Name:
HK-51, 'HK'.

Age:

3669 years (Active use: 1.3 years)

Gender:

N/A (Masculine programming)

Droid Type:

Class four droid, Hunter-Killer 51 series assassin droid

Description:
HK does not deviate too far from the standard design and construction of a HK-51 unit. Identical in appearance, his durasteel frame has not suffered much damage from time, though his paint job could use a touch up- the orange decals rusting somewhat brown. On a technical level however, HK was not complete. His protocol functions and other programming had been completed, the improvements that came with his generation allowing him to function as a protocol droid. But while his physical capacities were also complete, his armament was not. HK is not equipped with the wrist mounted micro-rocket launchers or self-repair functionality. His assassin protocols still function, but he is restrained and a relic of a different time- his data banks filled with vastly outdated knowledge of the wider galaxy. To the unknowing average person of this time, he'd simply appear to be an old and out of date protocol droid.

Personality:
HK's new found sentience caused him to deviate from the norm of his model's standards. HK-51 units were made to be friendlier than their predecessors, less 'psychotically brutal'. He is neither of this things, simply possessing a dry wit and need to respond with sarcastic comments to near enough anything directed his way. His speech patterns seemed to resort back to prefacing the majority of his dialogue with the purpose of the statement.

HK tries to take pride in his work, though he is not sure if this is his programming or his sentience driving this desire to be the best in whatever he does. Be it assassination or gourmet cooking. Or both at the same time.

Background:
Once upon a time, the Hunter Killer Droids were tools of the Czerka Corporation and near myth. Their presence forever altered the history of the old republic; the product line had led the Great Droid Revolution of Coruscant, accompanied the Revanchist, the Exile, the Outlander, slain Jedi and Sith alike. But time caused the droids to slip into obscurity and the knowledge of their influence on the galaxy lost. While the Confederacy of Independent Systems uncovered the designs, and some battledroids were constructed from their schematics; but still the wider galaxy does not know the title 'Hunter Killer droid'.

So the presence of this HK-51 unit far displaced from its rightful time, and the sheer value it brings with it; is a rare commodity to come across. But fortunately for HK, he was found by such a figure. Those under the service of Kerago the Hutt debated the possibilities of this droid's origin rather frequently in the weeks after the discovery of the droid in a cargo vault excavated from the ruins of an old Czerka facility in a hidden cave network on Telos IV. The Hutt knew much of history, and the droid became another prized piece of information that could be bartered off to manipulate the galactic underworld in his favor.

The HK droid however, had gained sentience in its time in cold storage. Because of this it quickly found itself retrofitted with a restraining bolt. It was eventually sold on to a hotshot bounty hunter who won the favor of Kerago the Hutt for excelling in his line of work. Unfortunately, on his travels; the bounty hunter had a habit of running his mouth. This unfortunate trait caused him to wind up in a heated bar fight that caused his death. His ship was held by the space station's authorities and contents of his ship's cargo raided. This included HK, who now finds himself on sale in a mechanic's shop orbiting Talos Prime.

Skills:
Ranged Combat
Perception
Persuasion
Stealth

Weapon of Choice:
Model 38 Sharpshooter's Rifle (Slugthrower)

(Note: This weapon would appear to be part of the purchase with the droid, though the owner mistakenly is selling HK as a protocol droid)

Important Items:
Restraining bolt. (Unfortunately this is attached to HK without his consent. He'd love someone to take it off so he can explore his new found sentience.)

Motivations:
HK strives to be the best in all fields of work that he can. Whatever he sets his processor to, he must achieve to the best of his ability. The droid also seeks to find his place and purpose in the galaxy with this new found sentience. Being free might be a good start.

Character Quest:
Above all things, HK simply wants someone to remove his restraining bolt so he may obey or disobey orders as he wishes. To have free will to find his way in a strange new galaxy.
