Fantasy History of the Explorer's Guild

Rusty of Shackleford

Ten Thousand Club
So, this is the background of the Explorer's Guild that is central in my roleplay with the same name. The link to the CS is here:Explorer's Guild Character Sheets

Long ago, the tribes of the North fought each other for what little resources they had. Fed up with this in fighting, the Fletching clan (later renamed to Fletcher) decided to lead an expedition south. They found the south was much more habitable, and returned to the other clans with the news and some of the wildlife. Soon, one of the most important point in known history would occur, called the Grand Exodus, where all the Northern clans moved south, each carving out their territories.

Fletcher clan, however, was different. Instead of creating a kingdom, they dedicated themselves to discovering new places and technology to benefit everyone. They began recruiting adventurers from all races, which was unheard of at the time. Humans, elves, dwarves, drow, gnomes, halflings, , dragonborn, and various other races working together to benefit everyone.

The advances in technology and the discovery of more land caused a massive boom in the population, and kingdoms eventually formed from the old clans. The most prominent was the Empire of Bael Turath, which was created by the Tiefling clan. The nobles of the empire desired power, selling their souls and the souls of thousands of their people in exchange for power. They became the tieflings, named after the clan that formed the empire. Bael Turath declared war on the known world, only being stopped by the combined force of all the other nations. The Treaty of Bael Turath was signed once the empire collapsed, stating all contact with non-holy entities to be illegal, including fae.

A thousand years of peace passed, and the Explorer's Guild had grown lazy and complacent, eventually resulting in the members overthrowing the leader, Ander Fletcher, and reforming the guild into a group of cutthroat mercenaries, burning the old guild Hall in the process.

Twenty years passed, and the Explorer's Guild was just a distant memory, a myth of how they were where they were. That was until a twelve year old street urchin named Lukas Fletcher found the old guild Hall while running from guards. Rediscovering his lineage, Lukas vowed to reform the guild no matter the cost. He loaned from anyone he could, nobles, banks, businessmen, and he even stole a bit to pay for the rebuilding and recruitment. The guild is now still in it's infancy, but with monsters and other threats on the rise, the guild might be just what the world needs.
