If so, what for? I don't really much of a point to it, personally, I was just curious what it's applications could be used for beyond saving server space.

I think it adds more flavor to posts and writing when a reader looks at it. For example, the exciting boss fight would seem a lot more badass with some blood-pumping music while you're reading it!

I use it. I personally associate music to most things I do and roleplaying especially. A theme song or playlist is generally a key component to a lot of creative stuff I do, being able to link soundcloud (a source for much of my music) is very useful.
