HISTORY

Harumi's fate was decided since she was very little, that she would become the village head. Her parents were on the low end of the Akiba clan, but as their daughter grew, many commented her likeness to the goddess from the stories. She had that helpful personality, wanting to be of service for nothing in return. She wasn't a pushover, and had her own way of handling trouble makers. Her beauty attracted the attention of many, and that isn't referring to her physical appearance.

Before she was recognized as next village head material, Harumi lived in a cottage within the Akiba lands of Uratochi with her parents. They had no say in family affairs, after her aunts and uncles left for the Kimura and Matsumoto clans. Though her parents stayed behind and remained loyal to protecting the sleeping gods and goddess, the shame their siblings brought was enough to have them cast out of the family. Still, they both did their best with what they had. She was a loved daughter, and she loved them in return. While they were very caring of her, they had the tendency to spoil her as a little girl. Luckily, it didn't catch on. She developed her own resilience against the world.

When her looks and behavior got her recognized, she and her parents were moved back into the main house. Unfortunately, while they lived there, she rarely saw them. Her days were filled with history and politics lessons, as well as helping out at the local branches of the other families. She met lots of different people, both Sorako and Umiko, but somewhere deep inside her heart ached for her family.

When she heard her father had passed away, it affected Harumi heavily. She stopped being able to focus, she just wanted to cry in her room all day. It was only a year away before she would be named head of the village, and due to her weakness, people began doubting her leadership. She wouldn't have cared if not for her mother, who came to tell her how proud her father and she was of Harumi. Her mother urged her to become stronger and be the leader their people needed, and reminded Harumi that family is found in everyone. They're all connected, and she cannot forget that.

So even when her mother passed away shortly after, Harumi stayed strong. She worked to lead the people with her mind and her heart. It was the path of the Tochiko to keep the peace, and for the Akiba to ensure peaceful ceremony.
