To say Olivia was nervous was an understatement. What if no one showed? She was pacing her living room, looking out of the window with every pass, hoping to see someone pulling into her driveway. But it had been twenty minutes-- granted it wasn't quite noon yet, the 'meeting' time-- since she'd started pacing and there was no one there. No cars other than her own newer jeep, and the slightly less new yet still nice van that she'd rented for them to take.

Biting her lip, she considered putting on music. Music normally helped when she was anxious or upset, but she couldn't move away from the window. Everytime she heard the squeal of someones brakes or a horn honk, she was right back at the window, peering out. Heaving a sigh, she dropped her curtains and forced herself to go get a glass of water.

Clad in a comfy outfit for the road, she set her glass down after taking a big sip. Her hair was piled on top of her head in a messy bun, and she leaned against the counter, reaching for her phone. No missed messages. Groaning, she tossed the thing back on the counter, wincing as it clattered against the marble countertops. "Whoops." Wouldn't be the first phone she'd shattered.

Sighing again, she heard a car outside and practically ran back to the window. Was someone here?

Heaving a sigh, Audrey looked herself in the mirror again. Did she look okay? Was a summer dress adequate for a road trip? But she wanted to look her best, especially since she hadn’t seen those people in such a long time. And Liv would be there, and even if they had grown up and seeing her probably wouldn’t stir the same feeling inside of her, well, as the Spanish saying went: Where there was a flame, ashes remain.

She checked the message again, she feared it was was a joke, or worse, that she had been included in the group chat by mistake. She had been a cheerleader in high school, but her closed off nature hadn’t made her exactly popular. She brushed her hair with her fingers and took her purse. Biting her lip she opened the door and left the house.

The car trip took less time than she thought it would, and as she arrived she sat on her car, wondering if it was okay to ring the bell now or it was too soon. Maybe she would seem desperate. She doubted Liv knew anything about her old feelings for her, but everyone knew how much she craved attention. She rolled down the window and let some of the summer breeze cool her thoughts. What to do?

Kiana Lewis
An uneasy feeling had been haunting Kiana ever since she woke up to the messages on her phone a few weeks ago - a group chat that consisted of all the friends she promised to keep in touch with but never actually did. Would they be mad at her? Would they still be as close? What if, all this time, she had been trying to get as far away as she could from her past life while all her friends stayed in contact?

Kiana chewed on her bottom lip, smudging the red lipstick she had carefully put on earlier. She didn't typically like to wear makeup but she felt pressured to look her best after all these years, determined to let everyone know that, in her own way, she had become mildly successful. Sure, she wasn't rich but she had finally made something of herself.

So lost in her own thoughts, she almost missed her turn. Flicking her blinker on at the last second, Kiana then cranked the wheel and the car lurched dramatically to the left. She could hear the thud of her luggage as it slid off the seat and onto the floor. She eyed her rear view mirror momentarily to ensure she hadn't drawn any unwanted attention to herself, then pressed her foot on the gas once more. Her Lexus sped forward, completely oblivious to the posted speed limit, and a few moments later the GPS beeped to let her know she was nearing her destination.

Kiana pulled into the driveway, her tires stirring up dirt as she went. There were only three other vehicles in the parking lot - two cars and a van, which she assumed was for the trip. She caught a flash of brilliant red hair as she parked, immediately recognizing the individual as Audrey.

The two hadn't spoken much before. Audrey had always seemed a bit quiet, just like her, so conversation seemed unlikely. Not to mention she had never been a big fan of cheerleaders, although Audrey never seemed like the typical, bitchy "I'm better than you" type of girl.

She turned the car off and pocketed her keys. As she removed her luggage from the car and set it on the ground, she was careful not to turn towards Audrey's car out of fear she may be looking at her. Did she go inside and say hi to Olivia first? After all, the invitation had come directly from her and they had been much closer than she had been with Audrey - but Kiana couldn't bring herself to be so rude.

Audrey's car was only a few feet from her own. She hauled her luggage towards the girl's vehicle. The young redhead was sitting on top of her car outfitted in a pretty belted sundress. Her hair flowed down the length of her back and her brown eyes lifted to meet her own.

"Hey," she said as casually as she could, fidgeting with her suitcases. "Are you heading in?"

Riley Anne Clarke

Sitting in the back of the taxi, Riley looked at the group message one more time. It's funny how a group of friends can be so close and know every secret about each other and then turn into complete strangers. Of course, she been watching their lives unfold on social media and would send them 'happy birthday' texts at appropriate times, but she hadn't talked to this group for years now. They used to have carefree nights driving to an open field, putting on a bonfire, and dancing the night away to whatever music was on the radio. Time, change, and a little growing up has drifted their tight nit friend group apart. A smile grew on her face when she remembered all of their high school antics like it was yesterday. "God, those were the good old days." She thought in her head.

Riley grabbed her bag from the passenger seat and rummaged through it, feeling around for her senior yearbook. She brought it along figuring it would be fun to have at their little reunion. She fished it out of her bag and flipped through the pages. She remembers editing this whole yearbook in high school. It was stressful, but rewarding in the end because now she had a yearbook dedicated to her friendship and memories. She stopped at every page she found a picture of her or her friends remembering how close they were. Her favorite picture was the one from the championship football game at their high school against their rival school. Riley and her friends were dressed head to toe in school colors and body paint. The picture screamed freedom and friendship too tight to break. She laughed a little remembering their meetings to plan their crazy outfits for that day and how well they executed the look very well. Riley wondered for a moment if they remembered the day as well as she did.

"We're here." The taxi driver announced to Riley, pulling into a driveway. Riley's stomach was suddenly filled with butterflies. She closed her yearbook and looked out the window. A flutter of excitement washed across her when she saw Aubrey and Kiana. Her best friends from so long ago. Memories of their all girl sleepovers bombarded her mind. Talking about their crushes, their hopes for the future, and how they'd be best friends for the rest of their lives. So many promises broken. Her palms started the sweat and she just sat in the taxi for a moment, almost wanting to turn back. What if they hated her? What if it was her fault they drifted apart? She traveled to much that she didn't have time for lengthy facetime calls or meetups. She watched the driver get out of the car and open the trunk to get her bag out. "It's now or never." She said out loud followed by a deep breath.

Riley opened the door to the taxi with her a bag on her arm. She thanked and paid the taxi driver and watched him get back in the car and drive off. She closed her eyes and took another deep breath before turning on her heel and heading toward the two girls she used to know everything about.

"Aubrey! Kiana!" Riley shouted excitedly with a big smile. As nervous as she was, she was more excited to see her friends again. When she looked at them, for a moment, it felt like they were back in high school again and nothing had changed. Unfortunately, they wasn't true. She walked over to the car they were hovering around. "Oh my goodness, you guys look great." Riley ogled. They did, too. They didn't look like meek children anymore. They both had grown up so well and looked amazing. "I'm so happy to see you two." She said a little nervously, hoping they felt the same.

Ethan smiled and waved to his aunt before getting into the uber he had requested. He really enjoyed the last week he had spent with her and he wished he had more time with her, but he had to go meet his old friends. When he received the message from Liv in a group chat inviting him and all of their friends to go on a trip together a few weeks back, he had been unsure if he would go. His life had been a bit crazy as of late and he hadn't really kept in touch with his friends very much over the years. Initially after high school, he had done good with keeping in touch with everyone, but when Celeste got sick that was where all his focus went, and not long after he had almost completely stopped talking to them. In the years since he had only kept up with a few of them via their social media posts. The idea of seeing them all again after so long was exciting yet nerve wracking for Ethan. The nerves coming from not knowing how he would be received after not talking to them all for so long.

During the drive, Ethan sent an email to his agent. He had been avoiding telling her about the trip he was taking, he knew she wouldn't approve, so he only told her that he was visiting his aunt. As of late, he had started to grow tired of his career and living in Los Angeles, which he had deemed the "superficial" capital of the world. He liked modeling, it was fun for him and he loved the travel that came with the job, but it was a fickle industry and he never cared much for the politics of it. That was one of the reasons he had decided to go on the trip with his old friends, it had come along at the right time, he needed a break from his life at the moment. Almost as soon as he sent the email the car pulled to a stop and the driver put the car into park.

The ride to Liv's house was surprisingly short, and a feeling of guilt hit Ethan. He had no idea that his old friend lived so close to his aunt. He had visited home to see his aunt at least twice a year since moving away, and he hadn't reached out to Liv once. "Thanks man." he said nodding to the driver as he grabbed his bag and got out of the car. He got out and slung his bag over his shoulder, then turned and noticed a few of the girls in the driveway. And so it begins. he thought to himself. He scanned the group as he walked toward them immediately recognizing Audrey, Riley and Kiana. His nerves kicked into high gear not only seeing his old friends, but also seeing his ex. He had of course known that Kiana was invited on the trip, but he hadn't actually thought about what it would be like to see her again. They hadn't ended things the best way years ago.

As he approached the girls he ran a hand through his hair and put on his best smile. "Hey ladies. Long time no see." He looked at each girl, unable to read their expressions. It had been so long, he didn't know them like he used to. His kept his smile, hoping that the girls wouldn't notice just how uneasy he was feeling.

Marlui Morais
What? No way. Bullshit.

No, but really, Marlui had been... beyond apprehensive about this road trip. It'd been like, 500 years since he saw any of these people. What if they were homophobic? Or hated cheese sandwiches? Or worst of all... what if they were bigoted towards gay cheese sandwiches?! It all just seemed too... coincidental, maybe. Too sudden. But eventually, they decided to chill their shit, what was the worst that could happen. If it sucked, they would bring some cash. Maybe hitchhike.

As for now, they hopped on their Harley-Davidson and began driving where the sun was shining. Mostly because that was where Google Maps told them to go. It wasn't a super long drive. Good. Marlui didn't like waiting.

The address... the house number was there. That'd make this easier. Then again, Marlui had a penchant for not being able to find shit. Would they even recognize them? They were... not the person they'd been in high school. A lot had changed, a lot had changed them, et cetera et cetera. They weren't sure if people were ready... ah, shit, they probably were ready. It wasn't like they'd been to prison or anything, just a little more confident. They laid eyes on the street signs... ah shit, there's the house! Taking a sudden left, they bumped through the grass, just barely avoiding a crash.

And there was everyone.

"Mornin' mornin' mornin'." It wasn't even the morning. But the word 'morning' is more fun than 'afternoon' or 'evening'. "You're all lookin' fine as hell, I don't even recognize you people. Did we really go to school together?"

BLAKE ELLIOTT

Sitting outside on a Harley Sportster wasn't exactly how Blake intended to get anything done. The cigarette in his hand burned slowly, for he hadn't lit up due to any craving. He just wanted something to do other than walk into the fray before him. He'd thought he was ready to just go in and be as breezy and charming as he could be in any other situation. Any kind that wasn't him interacting with people he hadn't seen in eight years. He watched as Marlui entered Liv's house, just as he had watched everyone else do the same. He wondered if they would recognize him now. He did look a hell of a lot different without the hair that reached the middle of his back and the wiry limbs of being a teenager. He wouldn't mind the comments. He promised himself that he wouldn't hold anything against anyone here--including the past. So, why was he wussing out and sitting on his bike as if he was anywhere near deathy afraid of these people? It wasn't like they did anything to him directly. Except the car thing--Liv and Luke were the only two people in the school who weren't a part of the uproar of laughter.

"Wait, no," Blake steadied his resolve before he even had a chance to remember that incident. "Not again. I'm better than that now," he added, flicking his cigarette to the ground and stomping it out on the heel of his Adidas. Instead of feeling like a loser he kicked the engine of his bike to life and pulled around the block, into Liv's driveway. Cutting the engine, he got off the vehicle and jogged across the lawn and up the front porch. Before knocking on the front door, he noted the fact that this porch almost exactly looked like that one that was across from his house. He'd know something like that almost immediately--it was his only refuge sometimes. And then, as if a light bulb was being turned on, he realized what was the staple for him to feel like this place was home. He leaned back and saw the red mountain bike leaning on the right side of the porch. Luke's bike. They had sold so much lemonade that summer to get their bikes. The bikes were all full size, and even though Liv and Blake stopped riding theirs after a few years, Luke kept going. Blake exhaled solemnly at the thought, but the memory gave him just a bit more courage than he previously had. He left his helmet on the stoop, not wanting anything else to be in his way.

Twisting the door-handle, Blake entered the house. "Um...Hi guys." he said shyly, a red surge of color spreading on his face. He spotted Olivia and walked over to her, arms spread in a wide bear hug.

"Hey, you!" he said a little more excitedly, wrapping his arms around her gently with the most genuine smile smacked on his face.

Olivia made about five more trips to the window before actually seeing someone pull up. Butterflies exploded in her stomach as she waited with bated breath to see who would get out of the car. She recognized Audrey's red hair almost immediately, and she couldn't stop the grin from spreading on her face. "Oh, my god. This is really happening." She spoke, not caring that no one was in the room to hear her.

She practically fled to the front door, yanking it open, realizing as she did so that others had arrived in that short time. Kiana and Riley. "All the girls!" Liv clapped her hands together, stepping out onto the front porch. "Hey!" She yelled, waving her hand frantically. Ethan pulled up next, and then finally-- someone she wasn't sure she recognized. Tilting her head to the side, she took a few more steps out onto her porch. "Marlui?" She gasped, watching as everyone came closer. "Come in, come in!" She ushered everyone inside, shutting the door behind them. "That's what, two we're waiting on?"

She moved around and hugged everyone, taking a few extra seconds with Marlui. "You guys all look so great."

She didn't hear someone approaching her door, but she did hear it open. Only one person came into her house unannounced, at least, back in high school. She whirled around, grinning when she saw Blake. "Blake!" She shrieked, meeting him halfway as he swept her up in a bear hug. "Oh, my god... you fucking loser, text a bitch sometime." Burying her face in his neck, she squeezed him tight and then released him, stumbling backwards in her excitement.

"I can't believe you're all here."
