the golden girl. the one that's got everything figured out. or so it seems. she's gorgeous, she's popular, and she can make people run circles around her, but it all just hides the fact that she comes from a broken home. her dad died a long time ago and she's been left with her sister, the nice girl, and perfectionist mother who constantly verbally abuses her if she doesn't do well in school or cheerleading. she's been forced her whole life to put on a perfect front, and it's turned her into a bit of a bitch. she and the rebel don't get along because she can't stand the idea that there's someone else who stands up to her -- and there may or may not be a long running grudge because of some incident or the other.

the boy next door. the athlete. another popular one in the group, and a major flirt. he comes from a rich household, run by only a father, since his mother died a long time ago. his younger sister is the rebel, and they grew close because their father was constantly on them, pressuring them into being the best. as a result, they both ended up choosing different paths than what their father intended. he worked hard to try and get a football scholarship, but he also kept secrets, like the fact that he stole money after his dad cut him and his sister off. he and the cheerleader used to date once upon a time and there may still be feelings left around to sort through.

she is the younger sister of the jock. like him, she grew under the pressure of her father who wanted them to join the family business and become lawyers. he's entirely money minded and a total crook who won't stop at anything to get what he wants. she is sure he's been up to some shady business as well, which led her further away from him. she rebelled in every possible way, staying out late, going to parties, drinking. she has her secrets too though -- like how she was dealing drugs for a short period of time in order to earn money when she got cut off from her father. she and the bad boy are best friends.

she's the quiet one. the one that prefers to just observe instead of passing commentary or bluntly giving her opinion and the only one she truly opened up to was the hacker. she's intelligent, always first in class, but she's been dealing with some demons of her own, like an eating disorder that stemmed from when she was in middle school and was bullied by some of the popular kids. she too, was pressured by her mother to become something great, but she was always more polite and more conservative than her older sister, the cheerleader. she loves to help people but holding her feelings in can only last so long and soon enough, she may just snap.

he's the total nerd. he can always be seen with his computer, and he does jobs for people, tracking things down or getting info for them -- all at a price of course. he started this out in order to help his mother. his dad was a deadbeat who never stuck around and his mother soon was diagnosed with cancer. they were struggling to make ends meet from the start and it got worse with medical bills, so he put his talent with computers to good use to make some money. he's the guy that knows pretty much everything about anyone, but keeps to himself most of the time. he usually responds with quips and sarcasm. he has harboured a major crush on the nice girl for a long time and oddly enough, his closest friend is the jock.

he's the guy from the wrong side of the tracks. trouble seems to find him wherever he goes. he's bounced around various different foster homes and has never truly known who his parents were. his current foster parents couldn't give a shit about him either, but he couldn't care less because he has a bed to sleep in at the end of the day. he hung around with some bad company for a short while and as a result, he has a secret that he's been struggling with. he has harboured feelings for the rebel for a while now but he and the jock don't get along.

↳ elaine dreschner | alive | zachary and his mother have always been close. not only does he consider her the best mother in the word, but his best friend. they have that loving relationship where his mother would always make sure he had enough to eat, and ensuring that he had packed everything he needed every time he left the house. additionally, zach and his mum always share their individual issues with other. whether it's personal, work or school, the two knew they had one another to lean on. ever since his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he has been trying to spend as much time with her as possible whilst working his various jobs to pay off her medical bills. once he became a successful app developer, getting her the best medical care was not so hard, and it was more or less where all of his money went.

↳ ross dreschner | whereabouts unknown | as a child, more specifically when his father was employed, the two had a tight relationship. they had the type of relationship where they would do all sorts of leisure activities together like sports, gaming and fishing. doing activities like these would allow them to bond. however, this all changed when his father lost his job. and then lost the next one. and the next one. zach's father had lost hope in finding another job, and worst of all, it didn't seem like he cared anymore. the only thing he would do was slouch on the couch with a cold beer in his hand. despite ross having lots of time on his hands, he had decided not to use this time on either of his sons and left the household without a trace when zach was ten.

↳ brayden dreschner | alive [18] | brayden is zach's younger brother, five years younger. the two had a playful yet protective relationship with each other. well, being the older sibling, it was mainly zach protecting brayden. although the brothers would have frequent disagreements, they would find a way to resolve it. more specifically, through making the other laugh or through delivering food to the other person's room. through emotional hardship caused by family issues and their mother's illness, the brothers found that the only people they could rely on were each other.

↳ zach and joshua met in chemistry class, the two being paired as lab partners. joshua initially found out about zach more through the business he was running on the side, using his skills with technology to find things out about people for a price. joshua happened to be one of his customers and zach found out that the girl he was dating was cheating on him. zach felt bad for the guy and didn't charge him since joshua actually seemed messed up by it, and somehow he found himself opening up a bit more to him. they weren't the best of friends, but they were close, in their own way.

↳ ophelia beaumont | ophelia is probably the only person from high school he has stayed in contact with, and this may or may not have to do with the crush he had on her back then. of course, ophelia was one of his closest friends too. her relied on her during tough times when he found out his mother had cancer, and in turn, he was there for her during her troubled times with her own mother.
↳ luca mendes | zach initially met luca because the other boy needed his hacking services to get money from his father, and zach did it a couple times for him too, when he asked for help. normally, luca is the exact type of person that zach would stay away from but he learned a thing or two of him while helping him, and the guy, in return, often kept bullies away from him which he was always pretty grateful for.
↳ genevieve beaumont | zach and gen barely interacted throughout high school. of course, she was popular so he knew of her, and he also maybe spoke to her like once or twice because of either joshua or luca, but that's about it. there are no negative or positive feelings here. they know each other, which is about the extent of their relationship for now.
↳ oliver anderson | much like with gen, zach never really got too acquainted with oliver (ahem, levi). part of this had to do with the fact that zach rarely said the right things and he was also a little scared of the guy, so he more or less tried to keep his mouth shut whenever he was around.
↳ charlene mendes | zach and charlie were sort of acquaintances in high school. they weren't close or anything but zach did enjoy taking the mickey out of her during pointless lunch hour debates, and in turn, he usually found himself embarrassed each week with some new prank or the other. they had their fun but a lot of that just stayed in high school and after graduating, they hardly stayed in contact until now.

↳ back in the early years of high school, zachary didn't have many friends. it was mostly due to his introverted personality and the fact the mostly enjoyed staying in the background with his video games. life was monotonous. the only 'good' thing in life was his family. particularly his mother and brother. not so much his father, since the man wasn't even around. however, his world came crashing down when his mother, the most significant person in his life, was diagnosed with liver cancer. she was the only person who really took care of him. one of the only people he loved. whilst his mother had attempted to fight the tough battle in the hospital, zachary had found a way to gain money through not only a part time job, but also a seemingly illegal job considering his advanced computer skills. the job had mainly consisted of finding out info on people or other things, hacking sites, sending viruses to computers, all by request, and his largest customer base was students in the school he went to. he did get one or two teachers at one point too. although he knew it wasn't necessarily the right thing to do, it was the biggest thing he could do, especially without a head of household to look after him, his brother, and sick mother.

↳ at the moment, zach is doing pretty well for himself. after graduating high school, an app he'd been developing since the start of high school actually took off and he made much more money. he could attend college, but he chose not to, wanting to stick around town to help take care of his mother. he continues to do his other, illegal job on the side even though he doesn't have to, but now he's also working to help send his younger brother to college.

↳ diego mendes | alive | maybe there was a time, when her mother was alive, that her father was an actual father and not someone who only cared about money and perfection. but all charlie remembers is him putting pressure on his kids and trying to dictate their every move. she also knows that whatever he did to get to where he is now were achieved by a few shady tasks here and there, and he probably still dabbles in them. charlie despises her father, and makes her irritation with him quite clear to him too, but at the end of the day, he always knew that a day would come when she would need him, and the day certainly came, much to charlie's displeasure.

↳ isadora mendes | deceased | charlie doesn't remember much about her mother except her singing voice. she remembered her singing her to sleep most nights and she remembered loving the way it made her feel. all of that stopped when charlie was still very young, because her mother was in a fatal car accident. since then, it's just been her, luca and their father, but charlie misses her mother every day and singing is always something that she holds dear to her heart because of it.

↳ luca mendes | alive [22] | charlie's older brother was always someone she was close to, especially after their mother died and they had their overbearing father to deal with. the man was constantly pushing for his kids to be what he wanted them to be rather than who they wanted to be, and their distaste for the man was something the siblings bonded over. toward the end of high school, however, certain things tested that bond, like luca's relationship with a girl that charlie despised, and him giving in to their father pushing him to be 'perfect'. after graduation, luca went off to college and so did charlie, but they drifted apart a little, especially when charlie went to her dad for help and felt ashamed about it, and so kept it to herself.

↳ it's complicated | on/off relationship with caleb hutcherson, a classmate from college. he often spends time at her place and vice versa, but they also fight a lot. It's more of a physical relationship than anything.

↳ charlie and joshua had a one night fling when she was in the tenth grade. it was a drunken mistake that they quickly looked past. if anything, it made them closer in a way. they ended up bonding the next morning by first sharing a couple of raspberries, and they were easily better off as friends. he also ended up helping her a year later when she was sexually assaulted at a party.

↳ genevieve beaumont | gen and charlie were, believe it or not, close friends once upon a time. the two had a lot of fun in each other's company, and charlie enjoyed hanging out with her a lot. all of it came crashing down after one fight in particular that charlie often questioned, even to this day. she always knew gen and her mother had problems, but it hurt her that gen believed charlie was the cause of something, so she masked her pain with anger. she grew further annoyed when gen started dating her own brother of all people, so needless to say, the girls have a very... complicated relationship, to say the least.
↳ oliver anderson | levi was easily one of the closest friends that charlie had in high school. they had a similar kind of energy, and a lot of similar interests. at one point, charlie was sure she harboured feelings for him, but her fear of losing him as a friend kept her from acting on them. that and she worried that he didn't feel the same. oh, and also the fact that he and her brother weren't on great terms anymore. they stayed in contact a bit after school, but not as much as she would have liked to, mainly because she herself pulled back from communication.
↳ ophelia beaumont | the nice girl | though they are polar opposites with ophelia being quiet and gentle and charlie being loud and reckless, the two are an odd pair of friends. charlie always admired ophelia's gentle, optimistic nature and her ability to be kind to people no matter what, and charlie in turn tried to open ophelia up to new experiences and encouraged her to be more out there. the two didn't stay in contact much after graduation, but there are no hard feelings there.
↳ zachary dreschner | the hacker | charlie and zach were somewhat acquaintances. the two would often partake in witty banter or pointless debates -- of which zach would always come out the winner -- or they would prank each other -- of which, charlie would end up the winner. they weren't super close or anything, but they had some good times. charlie didn't really keep in touch with him after leaving school though there is no bad blood between the two.

past
↳ charlie's past is extensive and not all happy. after their mother died, and with their father often away with business to do, she and her older brother were left under the care of nannies and as a result, she grew very close to her brother, to a point where they were inseparable. she gained more of a rebellious streak than him, while he went on to join sports and become more popular. being in the limelight was never her thing, and she was more of a troublemaker than anything else. charlie was always determined to get away from her hell of a father and since she wanted no money from him, she went into the business of dealing drugs -- nothing big, but certainly not legal either. she stopped very quickly though, when she realised it just wasn't for her. that, and the fact that she had actually tried one of these drugs at a party and it led to charlie being taken advantage of -- a memory she has long since repressed and hopes will never come up again. she tried to keep a low profile after that and it wasn't long after high school that she and her brother grew apart a little. along the way of course, she got into a bit too much trouble in college that led to her nearly being expelled, and she was forced to do the one thing she never wanted to do, which was call on her father for help. he quickly sorted it -- even if the legality of his actions were in question -- and though he said nothing about it at the time, charlie knows she is now in his debt and it won't be long till he asks her for something. this is the main reason she refrains from contacting her brother too much since she is ashamed of having contacted their father when she always besmirched his name.

↳ at the moment, charlie works as an assistant to a wedding photographer, while trying to build up her portfolio. she also does freelance. for the past eight months, she’s been in an on/off relationship with her former classmate, caleb mavericks. she stays in a small apartment alone.

one car drive and conversation later, joshua had saw beyond genevieve's aloof disposition. he made her smile; she hadn't done that truthfully in days. their friendship only continued to grow, although some people tended to question how joshua could even begin to stand genevieve. his answer: "I know a different gen."

But there was a point where all that stopped; soon after the death of her father. gen's mother was a perfectionist, but her father ensured she didn't push her children too hard. with him gone, and her consumed with grief, the pushing and moulding of genevieve's character hit her hard.

genevieve wasn't in control. she never was, she never has been.

she grew up, her mother berating her every movement, watching with an eagle-eyed glare. gen couldn't do anything without scrutiny, and soon she simply accepted that this was her reality. perform perfectly, or be nothing. at that point, gen was beginning to adopt the rude, popular persona she upheld throughout high school. gen's mother was so much worse in those few short years. it felt as though the world was on her shoulders, and at times, gen couldn't help but feel hatred towards her sister. why did she get to live so freely?

befriending joshua may have saved genevieve's sanity. she was brought down to earth, and taught that people could learn to love her, care for her, befriend her, as someone other than the picturesque female who could do no wrong.

↳ luca mendes : they were once childhood friends. long ago when levi was known as oliver, the two fostered a blooming friendship. however, with levi being stripped away and put into a different foster home a few towns away, the two lost contact. it was only when levi was settled with the andersons that the two met again, but they'd grown into different people. luca kept tripping up and calling him 'oliver' instead of 'levi' and the pair never really were able to reconnect. and with levi connecting better with his sister, and harboring some feelings, their rift simply grew.

↳ ophelia beaumont : levi didn't actively avoid phi, though they perhaps bumped into each other once. he does admire her though, being so nice must be tiring.
↳ zachary dreschner : again, levi isn't very close with zach. they're acquaintances, but levi got the feeling that zach avoided him. fair enough.
[div class=block]past[/div] oliver was born out of a teenage mistake, and both parents agreed to ditch the child at an orphanage. however, they did leave a little note on top of the swaddled baby in a basket, outlining who he was, including his ethnic background, and why he was there. the people running the orphanage told him of his supposed ancestry, but oliver was never told why his parents had abandoned him.

he was in and out of homes constantly, being a bit too troublesome or wild for most families, or not being wanted at all. most families didn't care for him, or grew to hate him, though oliver could never pinpoint why. notably, however, he was placed with the maddox family when he was twelve, and they were the most rigid, restricting and snobbish family he had spent time with. his name grew to be a burden, and it is during this time that oliver chose to go by levi instead - he felt it suited him more.

he was finally settled with the andersons, however he quickly realised they were only in it for the monetary gain available. at this point, levi knew he wasn't going to get a loving family, and was happy to settle with them so long as he had a roof and a bed (albeit a pretty shit one). levi continued to be reckless, and always find himself in trouble, whether it's with teachers, other students, his 'parents', or just about anybody.
[div class=block]present[/div] after graduating, levi picked up a second job as a tattoo artist, and continued to work and become a more valued member at the garage. although, he's also leaned further into the thrill of drag racing and gambling, and got involved with some dangerous groups of people. he's witnessed some crimes he shouldn't have, and owes some money to people of power.

past | for as long as ophelia can remember, there was always some kind of war between her, genevieve and their mother.

she had heard stories about the kind soul their father was, from close family friends to their distant relatives, it seemed like will beaumont would be remembered by everyone. ophelia, however, vividly remembers the tyrant that ruled her childhood. ophelia's mother had a strange way of showing affection towards her daughters; instead of kisses and warm cuddles, it was deathly glares and dictator-like commands. ophelia wan't under her mother's sharp gaze like her sister was. by the time she had started middle school, ophelia snuck around her own home like an unwanted mouse.

life at school wasn't easier, either. ophelia hid in her older sister's shadow, only being known as the "nice" girl or the "other beaumont sister". besides one or two friends, ophelia floated through high school alone, which wasn't such a terrible thing. the teen preferred her own company at times, and although it did feel quite lonely sitting in her room by herself, ophelia made the best of her situation. yet with the judgemental glares of the more popular students and her doubtful thoughts, ophelia found herself standing in the mirror and analysing herself.

her meals became smaller and she was never seen without a bottle of tea or water. her wrists became thinner and her collarbones began to show, ophelia was never happy with herself though. her newfound habits continued until her first year of being out of school. after moving as soon as she could, ophelia found work and a small apartment in the city at a flower shop. mr hardy, the owner, treated ophelia like a daughter. with one glance of her thin frame, mr hardy made sure ophelia fixed her habits for the better.

present | currently, ophelia resides in a tiny flat above the flower shop she works at. once she finishes work and closes up shop, she spends her nights either studying animation through online school or binge watching aladdin for the hundredth time. ophelia hasn't really made any friends since high school (not like she had many in the first) besides mr hardy who owns the floral business and the bookstore next door.
