pretend santalune has a lab

  • A long journey, ain't it? From a small, recently discovered island only about the size of Oblivia to Kalos, a region inhabited exclusively by humans. A long enough journey that they put everyone on a plane- something that you had never seen before in your life. Guess there are a few things that humans have that Gijinkas don't. When you docked in Coumarine City, you were almost immediately flocked by people who had heard of your coming to Kalos. News reporters, curious citizens, people who happened to be in the right place at the right time, it all made getting to the Hotel you were going to stay in for the night rather difficult, but it happened. It's been a while since then, though.

You've been in Santalune city for a few days now, to allow you to get adjusted and allow time for all the humans you're supposed to be teaming up with to actually arrive. This morning, you were woken up at six am and informed that today was the day- you were going to pick out a starter pokemon, and then head out to meet the people you would be traveling around Kalos with. You don't have much more information on them, though. Sheesh, who's coordinating this? You're to go to the nearby Pokecenter to pick your pokemon.

Seven Lawless and North Lawless
Tired single brother having a quarter life crisis and a five year old

"Seven, Seven, time to get up, we gotta go!" Seven was woken up to the feeling of North hopping up on his shoulder and shaking his shoulder while yelling at him. Not the first time he'd been woken up like this, and he sincerely doubted that it would be the last. He groaned and cracked an eye open to look at the clock, way too used to his sister doing this to panic about it anymore. The blindingly red letters on the clock read 5:30 A.M. He had been told beforehand that he was supposed to be in the lab by 7 A.M., but he had still been planning to get up at about six. North seemed to have different plans, though, and it was just too close to the time he was actually supposed to be getting up for him to tell her that it was too early and tuck her under the blankets with him to go back to sleep.

"Alright, I'm awake, I'm awake," Seven grumbled sleepily, which was enough to get North to stop shaking him. Without getting off his chest, North grabbed his arm to try pulling him up, while continuing to yell, "C'mon, up, we gotta get dressed! Breakfast! Let's gooo!" Arceus knew how anybody could be energetic this early in the morning, but North was clearly 100% ready to go and willing to drag Seven out of bed to do exactly that.

Seven was pretty sure that they'd be lucky if they weren't kicked out of the hotel due to his little sister's incessant yelling.

Despite North's hyperactivity and Seven being 99% sure that his sister was gonna get them kicked out, the rest of the morning progressed relatively smoothly, and the two of them were out of the hotel well before they were supposed to be at the lab. To keep North from running off and getting hurt or something, Seven carried North on his shoulders, which gave her ample opportunity to start putting some of her flower and bow hairclips in his hair. He'd remove those later. When he had use of his hands again. Well, when she wasn't on his shoulders, at the very least. And he thought North wouldn't notice. If she really wanted them there, he was sure that she would go ahead and put them back in later, though. He had never been able to deter her from putting pretty accessories in his hair.

Even in the early morning, Seven could feel the heat difference between Santalune and Snowbelle. It was so damn much hotter than he was used to.

"I think we should get a Spinarak, Seven! They've got all those legs! And the smileys on their butts!" North said cheerfully as she put more of her hairclips in her older brother's hair. He said she looked pretty with the hairbows in, so that had to mean that he would look pretty, too, right? Seven looked and felt absolutely mortified at the idea of him having a bug type as his first pokemon, though he was sure that she wouldn't notice. She couldn't see his face from where she was and was as perceptive as any five year old. She wouldn't realize.

"... I don't think they have Spinaraks for somebody's first pokemon," He was pretty sure that they didn't have bug type starters in labs, at least, so he wouldn't need to worry about his little sister crying until he picked the spinarak. He shoved open the door to the lab with his foot- unsurprisingly, the room was completely empty, apart from the two of them. He knelt down to put North onto her own two feet. "I'm gonna put you down, but don't go running around. You put Mr. Legs in my bag earlier, right?" He sure hoped that North had put her toy in his bag, he didn't have time to run back to the hotel to grab things like that. He had managed to pack everything else, but she had been the one with her stuffed pokemon.

"Uh-huh!" Seven was relieved by North's energetic nodding, and reached into his messenger bag to fish out the stuffed Spinarak. It was cuter than a normal Spinarak, so he found it's presence more... Tolerable. How had North gotten him to buy this, and why did she like Spinaraks so much? He handed it to her. North, in all her five year old ingenious, promptly started making Mr. Legs crawl up Seven's leg. Well, it was better than her running around and possibly breaking something.

PersephonePersephone hadn't appreciated getting woken up at 6 am but considering she was to be at the pokemon center in an hour or so, she couldn't complain. She quickly preformed her daily morning ritual, which was getting dressed and eating breakfast at the same time. Checking herself over, she let out a sigh. It really was a shame she couldn't bring her sister along. It would have made this journey a whole lot more fun. But, as her mother pointed out, her sister wasn't old enough. And besides, she had made a promise to write the girl as often as possible and update her about her journey. If things went well, maybe Aurora could go on a journey herself, with sisterly supervision of course.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she grabbed her bag and headed out to the lobby of her hotel. She was hoping none of the nosy humans from the day she arrived were here to ask her more questions, or to simply gawk at her. In all honest, it made her a bit uncomfortable. Not seeing anyone, she grinned a little and slipped out before anyone could notice. "Great...I don't wanna answer anymore stupid questions. Maybe I'll get to this place without an incident..." She whispered to herself as she walked. Soon, she let her mind wander to who she'd be travelling with. Sure, she'd travel with others like her. But there'd also be humans there. Who knows what they'll be like?

Solomon"Ergh... So tired..." "Oh quit your whining, let's get a move on already." "We didn't get nearly enough sleep last night and you know it, why are you trying to rush me right now?" "Because otherwise we'll be late knowing us." "Hmm... Fair point, fair point. Punctuality is quite important." Solomon probably looked rather like an insane person, standing in the lobby talking to himself, every once in a while stepping to the left or right and turning as if talking to someone else, something which he failed to realize as he exited the hotel, still continuing his conversation and ignoring everything around him.

"Ah, this is so exciting! I'm finally going to take the first step towards securing my name as one of fame!" "Well, technically second step." "Hmm?" "We're already... how do I put it... a Magikarp out of water here, and as such we're quite likely to draw some attention upon ourselves just by being around." "Fair point, fair point, but this is the first real official step in my eyes."
Solomon stopped right in front of the Pokemon Center. "...So do I go in or..." "I'm fairly sure they didn't specify, then again I wasn't listening too intently. We should probably go in... but wouldn't it be better to see if anyone else goes in first? That way we wouldn't look foolish." "Yes yes, good point!"

Achille Dubois

Waking up early in the morning is the worst way ever to start a day. At least according to Achille it is. He felt the urge to smash the blaring alarm clock on the table next to the hotel bed when it roused him from his slumber. Was it too much to ask to just sleep in and not get up early? Apparently so with how the meeting to choose a starter Pokémon is at 7 fucking am. And the fact that he'll be seeing others just worsened his foul mood. He didn't care about making nice with people, especially before the sun was up. No sane person would ever be cheery this early in the day.

Reluctantly, Achille rolled out of bed and staggered about getting dressed. He didn't give a damn if he ended up late to the meeting and therefore took his time pulling on his favored outfit. He ran a now gloved hand through his ink colored hair as he looked himself over. He adjusted his attached scarf accessory lightly before nodding in satisfaction. His mood slightly improved now that he has been awake for a few minutes and is now dressed. Slightly. Still pretty upset at the ungodly -to him at least- hour he's up, but no longer upset enough to deck the one who decided the meeting time. Okay, maybe that was a bit of a stretch.

The young man quietly slipped out of his hotel room, clicks of his red heels comforting him, and out of the hotel. He spotted some humans lingering about the hotel's entrance with hopeful eyes and immediately snuck off to the side before they could spot him. Arriving yesterday had been a passive pain with how the humans here practically mobbed him with questions about Gijinkas and his birth island. Fortunately, Achille had been able to use his stealth and melt away into the crowd as soon as the questioning humans became distracted. He never did like being crowded and never will. If this journey his excited parents signed him up for included being mobbed every fucking day then he's getting back on that weird metal bird thing to go back home.

He followed the directions he was given to find the Pokémon Center in this human city. Which its name he has currently forgotten and frankly did not care to remember. As he walked down the streets of the city he could see the similarities between this place and an island city. It surprised Achille to see that Gijinkas and humans are apparently quite similar with each other, but not counting the physical aspects between them. His parents would've been so happy with this sight so he better commit it to memory for retelling. Or, better yet, get them over here to see the sight for themselves. After all, they had been the ones excited about this opportunity. Not him.

Achille stopped walking and focused his smoke grey gaze on the assumed Pokémon Center right in front of him.
"Is this it?" He muttered as he eyed the pristine building in front of him. Well, there is only one way to find out. He didn't want to be standing around all day. Fuck that. And so Achille braced himself and strolled right on in through the automatic doors.

Ashe
This post isn't really relevant to anybody except entarriance

Ashe actually getting up on time was almost something to hold a celebration over. Not even her family could get her out of bed if she didn't want to get up, much less an alarm clock that she could easily turn off and prevent from bothering her further. She'd have been lying if she said she hadn't considered sleeping through her alarm so that she wouldn't have to go on the adventure that her dad had sent her on- she didn't very well want to do this, she would've preferred to stay at home and play video games. There was no guarantee that they would send her home instead of hunting her down to give her a pokemon, though, so she decided to roll out of bed when her alarm went off. She guessed a pokemon would be nice, anyway. If only to give her company whenever she got back home.

... Wait, would her father let her keep whatever she got? She'd looked up the choices starter pokemon that the regions gave out, and her favourites had been Totodile and Turtwig... Would dad let her keep either of those in the house? They both got kind of big at their final evolution... There were always pokeballs, though, so she was pretty sure it would be okay. Maybe her pokemon would have trouble getting through doors, but that was okay.

Ashe decided that perhaps she should've roomed with her friends instead of insisting on being in a room on her own when it came time to actually start cooking breakfast. She was pretty sure that Chase would have been far more capable of cooking than she ever would be. Well... She ate most of her food raw, anyway, considering most of what she ate were vegetables. They tasted better raw, and no amount of cooked carrots would convince her otherwise.

Instead of sitting down at a table, she decided to make her way down the hall and up to the hotel's entrance, a Styrofoam cup filled with broccoli in one hand and everything else she had with her in a bag that was slung over her shoulder. No need to stay in her room if she could just as easily wait at the front of the hotel and definitely not miss Mariko, Chase, and Quin coming out of their shared room. She had promised to wait for them, so she would definitely sit down and-

Oh, she could see some human girls looking at her, gossiping between themselves. Occasionally, she could hear one giggle. Must've thought that she was attractive... One day, a guy who could tell that she wasn't a boy and instantly fall in love would come along, she was sure. That happened with plenty traps and reverse traps in animes. She just hadn't gotten that far along yet.

Then again, if she was remembering this correctly, she was pretty sure that Chase had immediately noticed that she was a girl... Or did he? She couldn't remember, but she was relatively certain that he wasn't interested in her. Quin already interested in him, though, despite the fact that the Honedge seemed completely oblivious to his crush on him... So Chase couldn't be her love interest anyway....

She shrugged. Chase wasn't her type anyway. She'd rather date someone who didn't have a type advantage against her.
