Blacktyde (Smallest and Least powerful House sworn to the Greyjoys).
History:
Gareth is the nephew of Lord Baelor Blacktyde, the current Lord of Blacktyde Island and the erstwhile bannerman to Lord Balon Greyjoy of the Iron Islands. He was too young to participate in Robert’s Rebellion, but saw action during the Greyjoy Rebellion where he served under Lord Victarion Greyjoy. Following the capture of his uncle and the death of his Grandfather, the head of the household, he left his ancestral home and became a sellsword working on the mainland.
He spent a few years beyond the Wall, alternating between fighting the Wildlings and trading with them as his employment demanded. On his 20th nameday, he returned to the Iron Islands in time to be presented a bride from House Harlaw, one of the more prominent houses in the Iron Islands. He was pleased with the match and accepted. They were married a fortnight later.
Gareth remained with his wife for roughly two years until a lack of good coin demanded he go out and seek his services elsewhere. Before he departed, he was gifted with a longship from his Uncle, which he named Dreadhawk after the predatory birds that inhabited their solitary island. He set sail for Braavos on the tide, but was intercepted along the way by Salladhor Saan, a Lysene pirate under the employ of Stannis Baratheon.
After a few cups of wine and exchanged words, Gareth joined with the pirate and has since sworn his sword to Stannis Baratheon.
