Wild Souls is a roleplay with the combination of both Dice and writing skills, just as it is a mix of pure creation and constructed Quests. All different scenarios will be explained in order below.

ENCOUNTERS (Dice) - Recommended DICE link here.

The dice roleplay consists of three kinds of Encounters:

Prey Encounter (PE): Occurs when the player spots prey.

Player uses Stalk, Pounce, Kill dices. Emphasizes CHANCE.

Combat Encounter (CE): Occurs when the player joins a fight.

Player uses Attack (ATK) and Evade (EVA) dices. Emphasizes QUANTITY.

Spirit Encounter (SE): Occurs when the player experiences soul.

Player uses ONE Vision, Hearing, Belief dice eachEmphasizes QUALITY.

PREY ENCOUNTER EXAMPLE

Situation: A light brown hare has appeared in the grass before you, obliviously unaware of its surroundings.

(Now you need to roll your first dice, Stalk (STK). It is a two-faced dice, with 1 equal to success and 2 equal to fail.

If you roll a 2 then you would write:

You crouch down, pushing yourself against the ground, slinking towards the hare. But your tail, unable to contain your excitement, thrashes suddenly and scares the prey away! You straighten up in disappointment.

If you roll a 1, you can continue to roll your next dice, Pounce (PCE). This time, 2 equals to success and 1 equals to fail.

So if you roll a this time you would write:

You crouch down, pushing yourself against the ground, slinking towards the hare. As you draw close, the muscles in your hind legs tense, ready to spring. But just as you hop towards your prey, it notices your presence and darts into the nearest bushes! You sigh, and head back towards where you were before.

If you roll a 2, you go on to roll your final dice, Kill (KIL). Same as last time, 2 equals to success and 1 equals to fail.

If you roll a 1 again:

You crouch down, pushing yourself against the ground, slinking towards the hare. As you draw close, the muscles in your hind legs tense, ready to spring. You pounce towards the prey, claws outstretched, and soon the hare is under your eager paws. But just as you lower your head to deliver the final bite, it wriggles out of your grasp and vanishes into the grass! So close… you think in disappointment, staring at your empty paws.

And if you sucessfully roll 1, 2, 2:

You crouch down, pushing yourself against the ground, slinking towards the hare. As you draw close, the muscles in your hind legs tense, ready to spring. You pounce towards the prey, claws outstreched, and soon the hare is struggling futilely beneath your paws. You kill it with a swift, precise bite.

(Prey can be eaten or brought to the food pile.)

Phew, there's your first kill! Well done. (That wasn't so complicated, right?)

COMBAT ENCOUNTER EXAMPLE

Here I'll make sure that you can understand this fight system before you head into the roleplay!

Basically, there are 2 types of dices - Attack (ATK) and Evade (EVA). That's all your character can do in terms of rolling the dice, but with your writing you can make them both sound all kinds of cool!

Since this encounter emphasizes amount, the more dices you have the better. The more ATK dices you have, the more damage you can deal to your opponent; the more EVA dices you have, the less damage you'll take. The typical six-sided dice will be used:

ATK 1, 2, 3 = Fail ~ 4, 5, 6 = Success

EVA 1, 2, 3 = Success ~ 4, 5, 6 = Fail

And then you roll the number of dice you have. All clear?

Next you have a limited amount of health points (the good ol' HP)

One attack depletes one HP, and fights continue until either one opponent surrenders or has 1 HP left. (That is, unless you're questing, in which you may die.) If one surrenders, the other can choose to continue attacking, but that is considered immoral.

**Play fights can be picked for fun, though HP will still be depleted**

All clear? Just to be safe, let me add a simple example here.

Meet Tim and Kara, who have respective HP and dices. Today this fight happens because Kara wants to overtake Tim's position.

TIM has: 3 ATK dice, 1 EVA dice, 5 HP

KARA has: 2 ATK dice, 1 EVA dice, 3 HP

Kara picks the fight rolling her two ATK dice, and gets her result - 2, 5 (Fail, Success)

Kara seizes the oppurtunity as Tim's back is turned and pounces onto him, trying to rake her paws across his back.

(Here we see how the first attack does not need to be written as it is a fail, the other attack is an attempt because we do not know if Tim can counter it.)

Tim rolls his own dice, first the EVA - 1 (Success) , then the ATK - 5, 2, 6 (S F S)

Tim senses that something is wrong just a second before Kara latches onto his back, and he spins around with a force that throws Kara back onto the ground. Baring his teeth in anger, he swipes at Kara with his claws unsheathed, slicing the air with deadly speed.

(Tim's successful evasion is seen as no damage is dealt to him from Kara's attack. He then combines the two of his rolled attacks into the next sentence.)

Kara rolls her 1 EVA dice - 3 (S) and she can roll her 2 ATK dice - 6, 1 (S F)

Pain shot through Kara's muzzle, which suffered the brunt of Tim's onslaught, even though she dodged a few of his lunges. Beginning to regret her brashness, Kara rolled over into a position of surrender, her tail flat against the ground.

Kara's HP: 2/3

(Kara is raising a white flag, should Tim choose to accept it or not.)

Tim continues to roll his 3 ATK dices - 3, 4, 5 (F S S)

Pulling his lips back into a snarl, Tim darts forward and bites Kara's ear, just enough to draw blood and to show that it wasn't friendly at all. Then he turns away, finished with the quick fight.

(Although Kara surrenders, Tim chooses to use one of his successful dices to attack her once more before ending the fight.)

Kara's HP: 1/3

(Here the fight would instantly end as Kara's HP has reached 1.)

SPIRIT ENCOUNTER EXAMPLE

I won't be adding a detailed example here, mostly because I'm lazy. This will be short:

There are three dices required in an SE - Vision (VSN), Hearing (HRG) and Belief (BLF).

The quality of your spirit encounter depends on how much you rolled for each dice. If a Level 3 SE occurred, then you would need to roll amounts higher than 3 in order to have a good encounter.

If you roll 1 2 4 then you wouldn't see anything, have fuzzy hearing but be clear about the encounter.

To have better spirit levels, you can upgrade your dice's maximum level. When you roll your dice, your highest level is the number of faces your dice has.

Too confusing? Don't worry, all will be clear once you start roleplaying. If you have more complex questions that you want to ask, feel free to add it in the Q&A Forum!

---------------------------

*These are also applied in quests unless stated otherwise.*
