Skylar slowly opened her eyes as she let out a soft yawn, the sun peeking through her curtains. So far, so good. The brunette sat up in her bed, barely-familiar white walls surrounding her everywhere she looked. Sky was fairly new to the foster home - the newest of all the kids anyway - and so far, all she could say was that it was a place to stay. The sixteen-year-old had been jumping from foster home to foster home since she was only five, so at this point, everywhere was just somewhere to stay.


Up until she was first put into foster care, Skylar had been bright and bubbly and all-around happy, but ever since then, she has only withdrawn into herself more and more. Throwing the covers off her legs, she got up and found herself some clothes - a pair of shorts and a bright teal "I LOVE SHARK WEEK" tank top - and headed to a nearby bathroom to shower.


When she got out, she got dressed and walked back to her room, brushing and blow drying her long curls before doing her makeup and slipping on a pair of shark high tops. When she finished putting in her earrings and her shark tooth necklace, she walked downstairs, seeing a few other kids already up, and silently headed out back, sitting down at the edge of the pool in order to think.
