Abilities:
- Water Manipulation: Simple control over water. He's able to freely manipulate water from a distance of 10m and even pull water from clouds.
- Homing Arrows: A short range arrow that is soaked with water. Using Water Manipulation magic, Arco can make the arrow home into weak spots in armour or eyes of flying mounts.
- Hippogriff Flier: Skilled with his hippogriff as made obvious by his status as a Valkyrie Captain. His mount, Atlantes, is less of a mount and more of an extension of himself.
- Veteran Ace: Having fought in the 100 Year War by Patricia's side, he has seen his own fair share of combat. He even developed a sort of gut feeling that is usually correct.
- Marksman: Skilled with multiple forms of ranged weaponry. Arco personally taught Hamilton how to shoot and is leagues ahead of him. His best shot is blinding a wryvern from almost 600m away.
- Dual Swords trained: Despite being a flier and uses a lance and his bolter most of the time. He shows surprising skill with an old Merfolk weapon known as Riptide blades. Users of the blades are more like dancers than actual fighters.
Personality:
A seemingly happy go lucky and laid back person. Arco usually has a dour and almost bored expression on his face during most non-combat situations. He prefers going about his day to day life at his own pace and letting life take control. That is unless he''s dealing with the Royal Siblings. He's usually kind and supportive of their lives, willing to listen to their problems and would try to help out whenever he could.
That being said, he's actually full of self-doubt and lacks initiative. A meek person by nature, he tends to second guess when stressed or surprised. He's even prone to panicking but those few flaws were ironed out during the war but even so, he is still prone to panicking.
History/Bio:
Born as the only child of a human father and a siren mother, Arco has always felt like he doesn't belong despite the fact that halfbreeds are common in the Principality. This was mostly due to his meek and shy personality and his fear of being rejected. In fact, that was how he ended up meeting David Talver. The young Noble noticed how lonely Arco looked and quite literally dragged him along under his wing. After some protests, they became fast friends despite the differences of their station and Arco learned how to be a touch more assertive. Where David was, Arco was not very far behind. This friendship eventually led to them meeting Princess Alva Patricia Une when they both turned 16.
To say that he fell head over heels for the Royal was an understatement. His much meeker side would come out and he would nervously stammer out anything he wanted to say or outright run away in embarrassment with David giving chase and yelling for him to come back. The Princess was very much amused and curious about his behavior and after a few months of trying, they became close friends. An odd sight indeed, an Heir, a Noble, and the lowborn Squire or the inseparable trio as the castle staff called them. They studied together (Arco was allowed to learn after the Princess offered to pay for his tuition fees), trained together and if Arco was lucky, even ate together. Any protests of his presence was shot down by the Princess and his love for her grew. It was also thanks to her encouragement that he joined the Sky Knights as a Squire, finally finding a place that he belongs in. However, he felt that he wasn't worthy of the Princess's charity. That coupled with the revelation that David had also fallen for the Princess made Arco a very conflicted person. While he was happy that his two dearest friends got married, he felt envy. But he did earn a reward out of that. He was named as the Honorary Uncle of his friend's children. A gift that drove him to tears as he carried an infant Hamilton in his arms.
Fast forward to the most hectic part of the War. Arco was promoted to Squadron Lieutenant of the Principality's elite Valkyries and sent to fight the toughest air battles of the War. In the midst of this, he kept close contact with his friends and his 'niece' and 'nephew' via messenger crow. It was also through this channel of communication that he learned the death of his close friend. Grief stricken, he returned to the Capital only to find a revenge driven Patricia immediately ordering him to follow her every command in her quest for revenge. He was shocked and dismayed at how much his friend had changed, even going so far as to say to Patricia that "the real you died with him!".
He was somehow spared any punishment but he wished that Patricia would actually lash out or even kill him. In the end, he devoted himself to making sure the children were raised properly. While Jace went exploring with another family friend, he taught Hamilton the art of marksmanship and even some sword play. He never said it but he felt happy raising the children while feeling a pang of guilt at being the 'replacement'.
As of now, he is the Squadron Captain of the Valkyries while checking in on the Royal siblings once in awhile. He hated what Hamilton had become and felt that he had failed to raise him properly while he worries for Jace's reckless behavior. As for Patricia, the old flame he had for her still burns bright but he would never dare to propose. It would be a betrayal of his best and first friend's memory.
