First Day on Earth (ft. Shua & Tonyo)

RubyRose

Ace Character - Final 4
Scenario: Shua and Tonyo's Arrival on Earth

Time: Quite a few years before Current Day IC

Location: In the Woods somewhere on Earth

Waking up with your face in the dirt is never a good thing, but it especially wasn't when you couldn't even remember how you got there at first. And lifting your head didn't answer any questions, either. This place wasn't familiar in the slightest; and Tonyo would know. She was a fairy; she understood plants like no one's business and could tell each tree in the forest apart from one another. She didn't know any of these trees or plants, and that was scary enough in itself. As her recollections of the events leading up to this point filtered back to Tonyo's mind, her face began to turn a very dangerous shade of orange. Tonyo wasn't certain whether to be angry or afraid at the situation that Shua had gotten them into. Speaking of the half giantess, Tonyo looked around for a minute before seeing the woman nearby.

Stomping over to the woman, Tonyo gave the woman's foot a kick. "Shua! What have you done this time!? Where are we! What have you gotten us into?!?" Tonyo demanded, voice full of distress and fury as she crossed her arms and craned her neck to look at the woman. Her wings fluttered, showcasing how upset she was though she remained on the ground.

@SirBlazeALot (Had a spare moment and thought I'd get this rolling. So... xD I just keep imagining them having landed in New York, or some other big city that has a park right near the buildings.)

"Not yet..." Shua whined, gently swatting away in Shua's general direction, too far for her to actually reach. That was her version of "five more minutes please" when she wanted more sleep. Like many giants, Shua was a deep sleeper. She was only half giant though, and her Marou blood kept her restless. Especially when she'd just been in the thick of battle. She startled upward, pawing for her sword and shouting a war cry. But upon looking around viciously for her enemy, she found that she and Tonyo were alone...in a forest. Still not catching on to what happened, she dropped her sword, stretched her arms toward the sky and yawned. "Tonyo..." she said through her yawn before laying back down with her hands behind her head, drowsiness apparent in her expression. "I had the strangest dream..."

Tonyo dodged the hand, shooting Shua a look of outrage. Crossing her arms, she tapped her foot angrily before beginning to move towards the woman's head. By the time she got there Shua had already startled upward and settled back down again. She began pacing near the woman's elbow while she waited for Shua to catch up to the situation, then she fluttered up onto her arm, using the woman's bicep as her new pacing ground. "It wasn't a dream, Shua, you great oaf." Tonyo complained, running her fingers through her autumn colored hair and then throwing her hands in the air. "It definitely was not a dream!" She complained, her wings still twitching behind her as she paced, lifting and falling, flapping but without the point to take off... "We're not where we should be, Shua! I don't know where in this great flapping universe we are but We are not where we should be! I don't know these trees! They don't feel right. AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!" She accused, poking Shua as hard as she could on her cheek,.

@SirBlazeALot

Shua yawned, looking up at the leaves overhead while the fairy ranted. She smiled when the fairy poked her in the cheek and responded, "What do you mean you don't know the trees? Perhaps you should introduce yourself." She sat up and looked around, slightly more awake than the last time she was upright. "Leave it to a witch to cheat her way out of a proper battle with foul magic." Shua cracked her neck and replied, "We shall simply walk back to Elvera, there is no need to throw a tantrum, Tonyo." She stood up and cracked her neck. "I wonder what beasts lurk in these woods. Or perhaps rogues?" Most people would have said that with a tiny bit of fear, but as always Shua sounded hopeful about running into danger.

"Shua, you're not listening to me. You're Not Listening!" Tonyo demanded, getting even more worked up. She was not at home. They were not at home. And Tonyo did not know where they were! All she knew was that they would not be able to walk home from here. Trying to think of a simple way of telling this to Shua, she fluttered so that she was hovering near Shua's shoulder... more like buzzing from the irritation. "SHUA!" Tonyo cried out in frustration, flying into the woman's face. "WE CAN'T WALK HOME! WE'RE NOT HOME!" Tonyo attempted to get across to Shua, her hands thrown in the air as she shrieked. "These are not our trees. This isn't where we belong!" Tonyo said, almost flickering here and there as she flew around in her panic.Even with knowing all of this, Tonyo didn't actually know where they were. Just that Elvera was very, very far away.

@SirBlazeALot

In times like these Shua was tempted to flick the little fairy away. She could be really quite irritating when she wanted to be. But even Shua was beginning to get slightly freaked out by how freaked out Tonyo was. "St-Stop it Tonyo. That doesn't make sense. Of course we can walk home. We can always walk home. Don't be mad. You're letting the witch get to you." Shua began walking off in a completely random direction. "Now come, help me find my way out of these woods."

The actual beginnings of panic in Shua's voice helped take the edge of hysteria off of Tonyo. She flew over to Shua's shoulder and flopped onto it, sighing. "Of course the witch is getting to me. She was scary as flapping hurricane winds." Tonyo whined. "You should know better then getting mixed up with witches anyway. Flesh wounds I can heal... but witchery? We'd have to find a special healer for that." Tonyo lay draped over Shua's shoulder, facing the way they were walking. It was really nice having such a large friend sometimes... it meant that Tonyo could catch rides when she was tired... or panicking. All in all, things could be worse. At least she was here with Shua... which she'd rather over being anywhere else without her friend. Even knowing they weren't near their home didn't, she'd rather be in this place with strange trees then safely back with the other fairies. "So you get us into trouble and then you need my help. I see how it is, Shua." Tonyo said, pushing to her feet before fluttering over to a tree and touching the bark a moment. At least she could still communicate with the plant life here. "Your natural sense of direction has yet to fail you." Tonyo said with some weak version of a grin. Fluttering back over to sit on Shua's shoulder, she took a seat before continuing. "The trees end in any direction but closest in this one. It's a bit odd, though... they don't end naturally like in a desert or near the ocean, or rocky cliffs. There's... something weird about this place, Shua." Tonyo warned. Inwardly she was still freaking out but.. there really was no use getting both her and Shua worked up. That would cause a lot more problems without solving anything.

@SirBlazeALot (False alarm.... gotta love when parents say 'okay, we're heading out' and then you don't. XP )

"Someone had to stop her Tonyo," Shua lamented, sounding a bit depressed. Not because she was really concerned about the harm the witch could be doing though. She was really just upset they hadn't finished the battle. A tone of determination took her and she added, "But fear not. That someone still will be us. I will mount her head on my wall back in the mountains. The tribe will be proud of us."

As the fairy stood up to go ask the trees for directions, Shua retorted with a wide smile, "That is how it's always been, my friend!" She too was quite grateful to have Tonyo with her. If she'd woken up in that portal alone she would have been worried sick about the fairy's whereabouts. The witch would probably use her little friend's beautiful wings to make some kind of malevolent potion. And if there was truly something wrong with this strange forest, Shua never would have known.

"That is strange... we've never come across anything like that before have we?" She asked. "Perhaps it is like the capital of Stölenberg? A large city in the middle of a forest?" Shua strode along drawing her blade in case...well you know in case shit went down. "Fear not Tonyo... anyone or anything that crosses our path will wish they hadn't!" Shua was getting excited now, almost forgetting about the entire situation with the witch in favor of wondering what new adventures awaited them in this strange land.

As they came closer to the edge of the woods, the sound of cars on the road could be heard. As soon as Shua heard them, she readied her blade and looked around. In the distance, a big 18-wheeler honked loudly, causing Shua to look in every which way even faster. "Have you ever heard of a creature with such a roar?" she whispered quietly.

Leave it to Shua to actually pull Tonyo onto her side, even while the fairy was still less then pleased with the current situation. Shua was right, though; the witch was causing trouble and no one had been stopping her. That hero complex was going to get them both killed one of these days, but for now Tonyo supposed she should just try and take this odd world one step at a time with Shua. They were both still alive and in one piece and that was the important thing.

"No, not really." Tonyou agreed. Shua's optimistic nature was really hard to keep down and Tonyo was kind of glad for that. It wouldn't be any fun if they were both freaking out. Shua made even scary situations... fun. It was a word Tonyo hated using in that situation because she didn't really like dangerous situations but Shua had so much fun in them it was hard not to get caught up as well. "Perhaps. It is... similar to that. But it's still not right." Tonyo said, frowning as she thought about it. She was at least calm now. As long as she had Shua she knew no harm would befall her.

The buzzing in the air was making it hard for Tonyo to fly straight. There were so many vibrations from all the noise and Tonyo could feel it in every flutter of her wings. She was entirely sure she had never faced anything like that noise before. She froze when the honk went off, stunned, her entire body doing nothing more then shake from the sheer blast of sound... and began to fall while she was in shock. Catching herself before she actually hit the ground, Tonyo fluttered just enough so that she was resting on Shua's foot -undisturbed by the smell of feet- and shook her head. "No, that... I don't know what that is. Something from the great underworld, certainly." She said and then the shiny metallic moving things came into sight and Tonyo had no idea what to make of any of it. "Do you believe me yet? We aren't going to be able to walk home from here..." Tonyo said, leaning against Shua's shin to stay upright.

When they’d reached the road and saw what Shua could only describe as speedy metallic beasts, her entire face lit up. “What ARE those!?” she asked in awe, despite knowing that Tonyo didn’t have an answer for her. She still had her sword out and ready to go, and she very boldly approached the road.

“The way they move… there’s an entire herd of them!” Twirling her ridiculously large blade in the air, she grinned and looked down at Tonyo. “I wish to fight them.” Without waiting for Tonyo to complain about it, Shua began to make her way to the road toward the beasts she wanted nothing more than to conquer. But when they got closer to the edge of the freeway, Shua noticed something beyond her comprehension.

Her mouth gaped and she observed, “There are... people... inside of them…” Her mind was completely blown, and she had no idea what to make of any of this. How could people sit inside of the big metal beasts? Were the people and the beasts one in the same? Shua dropped her sword and held her head in frustration. When Shua became confused, she could become quite grumpy. “Where are we?” she groaned.

Tonyo was just as in awe as Shua, though there was way more horror then excitement. Giant, shiny beetle like creatures that rolled. What kind of nonsensical world had they ended up in? And the beetles emitted a nasty gray vapor that made Tonyo want to choke. She was really not liking this new world at all, it was already making her sick. And of course the first thing that came to Shua's mind was to fight them. Though Tonyo opened her mouth to protest, her giant friend decided not to wait for her opinion and began moving towards them regardless of the dangers. Tonyo could do little more then hang on and hope that they weren't about to die in this place.

"What?!" Tonyo screeched, fluttering up to stand on Shua's shoulder and peer in to see what Shua was seeing. It didn't make any sense at all. If the beetles were digesting the people, certainly they'd be screaming in agony wouldn't they? But everything seemed amicable. There didn't seem to be any pain. "A long way from home." Tonyo sighed, fluttering off of Shua's shoulder. The vibrations were still going through her and it was less then pleasant, but it was a little more manageable now.

"Shua... some of those people are giving us odd looks." Tonyo pointed out. "And some of them are eyeing you as one would a plump piece of fruit. Well, good to see that people are disgusting wherever you go." Tonyo said with a sigh before moving to pat Shua's head. "Come on; I am sure there are interesting monsters for you to slay on this planet too. Although you may want to leave the metal beetles and their insides alone." Tonyo said, her concern for her friend's mental being outweighing her concern for both of their well beings.

Dense as she was, Shua responded inquisitively, “Are they...are they cannibals?” That air of bloodthirsty excitement returned to her tone, though far more minute than before. She didn’t really think much of her appearance despite being -- for lack of a better term -- eye-fucked by a lot of people whenever she was outside of Marou territory. Her people dressed the way they dressed and she rarely ever considered how anyone else felt about it.

Shua nodded in agreement with the comforting pat from her tiny friend. For once she decided to take Tonyo’s advice and nodded under her little palm. “Agreed…” she sounded sort of disappointed, but the thought of other monsters in this strange world rejuvenated her enthusiasm. “YOU ARE SAFE FOR NOW, BEETLES!” Shua roared at traffic.

Without knowing or caring where she was going, Shua began following the beetles, curious to see where they were all heading. Perhaps there was a giant beetle king or queen that she and Tonyo could destroy. Or something even bigger and more terrifying and challenging. She looked longingly at the cars as they passed by. “Tonyo… I really want to kill one.”

The thought that the metal beetles were cannibals intrigued Tonyo because she was thinking more along the lines of the people inside being some sort of parasite that had a friendly relationship with the host. Because that was possible, right? They were on some alien planet where there were giant metal beetles so Tonyo was just going to assume anything was possible at this point. "They might be cannibals if the beetles were eating one another." Tonyo said. After everything they had already seen she wouldn't deny her friend's suggestion. It was possible they were only seeing the metal beetles following a colony line like ants do though the line was much more complex then any ant line. So back inside the colony for all they knew the beetles might eat one another.

Tonyo breathed a sigh of relief when Shua actually listened to her and left the strange, noisy beings alone. With these things existing, though, Tonyo was almost afraid of what other kind of monsters there might be on such a planet. She hoped whatever there were they were dangerous enough to keep Shua happy but not actually but her dear friend in danger. Or herself. And she hadn't come across any healing plants yet but Tonyo had faith that this planet's plant life were similar enough that Tonyo could figure something out. She would have to see if her abilities worked in this place as well.

"I know, Shua, but they outnumber us greatly." Tonyo said, trying to ignore the longing look Shua was giving the cars because Tonyo had given into that look before. She refused to today, though. "If we see the metal beetles eating the people then we'll jump right in and save the human, alright? But until then... for all we know those creatures are peaceful." Difficult to say when a loud sound shook the air as a horn blasted. But noisy and evil were two different things. "Lets just keep exploring. A real dangerous monster may be closer then we see."

Shua twitched and snarled at the bellowing metal creature as it passed. Other than being loud, they didn’t seem aggressive, and they didn’t seem to be devouring the people inside of them. But ignoring them wasn’t doing anything for her increasing curiosity. “Fine,” she begrudgingly agreed with Tonyo, pouting slightly like a child denied candy at a grocery store checkout.

Despite her tough talk earlier about beheading the witch and mounting her head somewhere, Shua was thinking about her a lot less and this unfamiliar world a lot more. She wasn’t as well tuned to nature as Tonyo is, but even she was beginning to notice how the air in this world felt filthy and heavy. It’s as if it were constricting her lungs bit by bit with every breath.

There were strange temple shaped constructs connected at their peaks by long wires. There were almost no signs of any of the dangerous wildlife she was used to, and the road traveled by the metal creatures stretched on for what seemed like infinity. Normally Shua liked a good long walk from A to B so long as there was glory to be found along the way but there was no glory here. There was only the roar of the metal beasts and the sky above them. And Shua isn’t known for her patience.

“I have an idea,” Shua notified Tonyo, and without properly consulting the fairy, she stepped onto the highway in the middle of traffic. A smaller oncoming beetle (literally one of these lmfao) honked loudly and began to screech to a halt, but of course it couldn’t stop fast enough. The vehicle crashed into Shua, who was crouched and ready to catch it with a smile. The pathetic little squeal it made in comparison to the mighty bellow of its larger counterparts was amusing to her. She caught the hood and stopped the car, crunching the metal in her palms and skidding back a few feet before the vehicle came to a complete stop.

The other cars behind the yellow beetle began to wail, but Shua could give less of a shit. She climbed on to the roof of the car and slapped the window. “Onward!” She shouted, expecting the beetle to just sort of accept that it was being ridden now and continue wherever it was going if it was peaceful ass Tonyo said they are. If not, then that would be even better, because then they’d be in for a fight. And that’s always great.

Tonyo patted Shua's shoulder in as comforting a gesture as the little fairy could muster. The pouting tugged at Tonyo's tiny heartstrings but she stayed strong because letting Shua go could have been a serious death sentence. There might have been something more to these beetles and if they were in danger or attacked, Tonyo and Shua might be killed on the spot. Or at least I will. It'll take a great amount of ruthless power to ever destroy Shua. Tonyo thought to herself, mental tone a bit snide but also proud of her friend. Shua was always so strong in both the physical and mental sense. It was a trait Tonyo admired and envy since she could only ever have one of the two, thanks to her size and her naturally fragile body.

Okay, so Tonyo has been friends for a long long time. A very, very long time. And in that time, never has it turned out well when Shua would state she 'had an idea' and immediately went after it. Concern flitted through Tonyo as she fluttered off of Shua to stand on the sidewalk- assuming that whatever Shua was about to do would be dangerous. She watched as her friend walked neatly in front of a metal beetle and the screeching sound that rent the air as it attempted to stop, and on top of that when the metal came into contact with Shua brought Tonyo to her knees, her hands covering her ears. The sounds were so awful that she shook Tonyo's very being. This whole new world was just wrong and Tonyo curled in on herself as she waited for it to stop.

When the sounds did stop it felt like some kind of blessed miracle. Tonyo glanced up, her head feeling like it was splitting down the middle as she got weakly back to her feet. She fluttered tiredly over to Shua, landing on her thigh and just collapsing there, draping herself over the expanse of muscle. "I hope we don't die because of this." Tonyo complained just as a voice began shouting angrily up at them. "Oh look, Shua. The humans can leave the metal beetles." Tonyo said, pointing to the woman who had gotten out of the vehicle. The lady might as well have just been standing there for all the response she was getting from Tonyo for shouting. Though Tonyo did eventually groan and cover her ears. "I think you killed the beetle, Shua." Tonyo complained. And then another shrill sound started up that was soon accompanied by flashing lights and even more metal beetles. He whole being was beginning to ache at this point, and Tonyo just wanted to go to sleep and not have to deal with the cloying air and the fracturing noise anymore. "And I think you just got us into trouble. Again." The fairy somehow managed to grumble, punching at Shua's thigh in a very tantrum like manner, though it probably barely registered as even a poke.
