Rem and the Dreamers

Rem is a village hidden by magic, created once the Dreamers – those who follow the belief that Mundus is an echo of Lucidia, what they term the dreamscape, and also the so-called Perfect World. Those of Rem claim there was a time where they helped to bring all things of Lucidia, into Mundus, their dreams making it possible to see what could be. Those who couldn’t dream in such a fashion, however, grew envious, and even afraid. After all, if it was Dreamers who brought fire from Lucidia, then they not only brought it as something that could cook food, but something that could devastate lands.

There were also the Astrals, creatures that were unable to stay permanently on Mundus, and their power combined with the Dreamers in frightening ways.

Time, and beliefs, shifted. Dreamers who were once revered were feared, and they knew that fear would eventually manifest in action…so the Dreamers hid away.

Rem exists at the base of the mountain range Mermes, through a forest at the edge of the kingdom of Gairland; the mountain range serves as a boarder to the neighboring country. Yet, magic tends to misdirect and turn people about who attempt to locate Rem, making it difficult to be found by outsiders, although Dreamers do still leave and go to see the world – or they scry and astral project to do so.

Rem itself is less technology, more magic, and seems to have been taken from another time. The civilization is built into the trees and upon the river, and caves, around it. Crystals serve as lights, and most things are made of bone, stone, wood, or crystal – few are metal, except for weapons, which they have. They have not forgotten the potential threat that remains, not all Dreamers, do, in the end, Dream.

Dreamer Terminology

Dream: Dream with a capital ‘D’ is an art. It is a look into Lucidia through the Gate of Horn, not the Gate of Ivory, and it reveals truths. Anyone can dream, but to Dream is to be shown reality – whether it is a vision of the future, of the past, of an Astral, or even of the world at present.

Dreamer: Dreamer, with a capital D, is one who can Pull Dreams into reality. Most often, this comes in the form of bonding with and pulling an Astral, however some have been known to exhibit other talents that stem from true Dreams.

Astral: The term for Summon, creatures which (according to Dreamers) never existed in Lucidia until they were Born in a Dreamer’s imagination. Once Born, they are accessible to others who can bond with the Astral.

Echo: A term for one who can speak New Astrals or Newness into Mundus – though it is a point of contention in some circles, as it seems to imply that the Dreamer is Echoing what they see into Mundus from Lucidia, rather than Creating it anew. In either case, Echoes are considered a rare talent.

Lucidia: The Dreamscape, the “Perfect World” and also the “Worst World”. The duality is inherent in all teachings. One person’s dream is another person’s nightmare.

Gates of Ivory: Dreams that are seen through these are untrue. False.

Gates of Horn: Dreams that are seen through these are true. Lucidia Dreams.

Astrals

Shiva: Shiva appears as a woman of nearly translucent pale-blue, pearl-sheen skin. Her hair is a much darker blue, and dark blue veins can be seen running across her skin. She is garbed in blue and silver, what little of her is covered, and adorned in jewelry. She is known for her dominion over ice, and the first to dream her was Yue.

Ifrit: Ifrit appears as a broad, horned demon with brownish fur, and dark, spiky armor and chains. He is a physically imposing creature with long claws on hands and feet, and a powerful tail, yet he is known for his capabilities manipulating fire more than anything else. He was dreamt into existence by Agni.

Carbuncle: Carbuncle appears as a small, three-tailed canine-like creature of green fur and some white tufts. It is also known for a large red stone in the center of its forehead, from which magic seems to come from. Carbuncle is not known for their offensive strength, but for being able to erect shields and reflect magic back – though the creature has been known to bite ankles, and find ways to buff allies in other fashion beyond mere protection. Carbuncle was first dreamt by Jem.

Ixion: Ixion appears as a black unicorn with the golden horn bent in away that almost seems like a scimitar…or a lightning bolt. Its mane and tail are white, its eyes a pupilless white that glow. Armor is worn on its hide in gold. It is known for its power over lightning, capable of throwing it from its horn and causing terrible and disorienting thunderous vibrations with the stamp of its hooves. Ixion was first dreamt by Ramu.

Leviathan: As the name suggests, Leviathan is an immensely large Astral, with a serpentine blue body and scales all along it. It has two whiskers like a catfish, and horns upon its head, but it is known to levitate as well as swim. It has fins along its back, but it also has claws. It is known for its dominion over water. It was first summoned by Amos.

Valefor: Valefor is a multi-colored bird with a wingspan and strength capable of carrying two or three upon her back. The plumage of her torso is mostly red, but as it moves towards her wings which are more scaly than feathered, it becomes a mix of blue and cream hues. Valefor lacks hands, but has powerful talons on her feet. She is known for her dominion over the sky and air, picking up great gusts of wind with ease. She was first dreamt by Brasca.

Alexander: Alexander is a dream that is rarely seen, but when he manifests, it is as a fortress of power, a castle with its four towers as legs, and the capability to fire holy light from its many turrets. If it has a face, it has never been seen, nor has its castle been explored. Occasionally, a glowing light like a sword has been seen coming from the center, and one even said the castle could fly on feathered wings – but this Astral is still rarely seen. Alexander was first brought forth by Troy.

Fenris: Fenris appears as an Astral with glowing red eyes, and seems to glow from within – with fire, or what, no one is certain – no breath attack has ever been witnessed from the black, smokey, wolf – and he does seem more smoke at times than physical. Chains bind him, and though they seem to drag him to the ground, some Dreamers think they are drawing Fenris back to Lucidia. Some Dreamers think Fenris more nightmare than dream and worry of what was drawn forth. As Alexander, Fenris is rarely seen, but when he is seen, his power extends into the realm of darkness and shadows – a counter to Alexander’s light – and he seems influenced by the moon. He was first drawn forth by Midgard.
