After Great Conflict (1912-1919) - Winter of 1919
​

The war had effected what would become Aslein-Thurg... All of the landed noblemen with the exception of one have died leading troops during the war. The count of Niedergolsche, Daniel Wolfgang survived two artillery strikes but became crippled after losing his left leg and right arm thus making him more or less a retired man. Daniel however wasn't a man who'd be comfortable sitting behind a desk, oh no he was brought up to be a militant noble and his abilities as an administrator was average at best. Upon the counts return, the people saw his terrible state and looked at the over all affair of this war even harder.


Every family had lost at least one loved one. The land was in a fragile state now having lost their more capable nobles. Succession in the great seven settlements were underway but so were groups of critics, intellectuals and small spokes people. Three protest in particular had created the opportunity that would split the provinces from Arkavian rule. October 8 1919 The Massacre of Lindener Weg, Kalkstein, the angry mob had surrounded the villa of the noble family and began protesting and throwing insults at the family name. That hit a nerve on the two elder sons of the deceased nobleman and they ordered their guards and household troops to attack the mob. It resulted in 72 deaths and a left a bad impression for the city's inhabitants. October 10 Brawl of Oldenfeld was originally just a peaceful protest until a small group of law enforcers began to beat up the lead spokesman when he was giving his complaint - the crowd retaliated after seeing their spokesman getting pummeled by four officers for a minute. Lastly was an unfortunate accident, one that was caused by a misunderstanding rather than on malice... The Kalnessing Incident of November 3, What had happened was that a small child was playing around with a toy gun, running amok in one of the city parks with other children with similar toys. The heir in line for inheriting the city was walking there with his guards and the shot the children upon reflex.


In December 10 The great assembly happened in Kalnessing. Representatives from every village, town and city traveled to take part in the national assembly. Those of nobility were also present not all of them but around half of them including count Daniel Wolfgang. Civil rights leaders, court chancellors and Clergy were also present for the meeting of greats. The assembly lasted nine days and the result from this assembly was something unexpected. The major changes were first the abolition of nobility and then the introduction of a socialist republic. The duchies of Aslein and Thurg have announced to the world that they have declared themselves independence from the Arkavian Empire and came to form the Federal Republic of Alsein-Thurg. They had drafted a constitution, created and adopted a parliamentary system and pretty much threw out the imperial army out of the nation.

The reign of the First Chancellor - 1920-1930

Petra Nebel. This woman had been elected chancellor by the cabinet of ministers and had been giving the blessings of her colleagues to run the nation proper. When she took a look at the nation she immediately looked for a way to replenish the funds in the national treasury. Getting rid of the imperial military certainly helped lower the debt that the newly found country had been making but it's still racking up negative numbers for some reason. After a series of investigations in her first week of office she finally could crack down on the the reason for the crumbling economy. Not enough workers, abandoned settlements, not enough produce in the agricultural sector, Factories that produced the nations munitions, weapons and war vehicles are left rusting and the wealthy have left the nation with their money. 


Petra began to undertake a series of programs and reforms to fix these problems. The settlements that have been abandoned have been scrapped to improve upon what will be later called Petrashaven, women and child labor had been brought back to make up for the loss of workers, military spending had reduced along with the salaries of the both state run and federal politicians, the number of banks have been reduced and various industrial plants, factories and mills have been demolished. The wealthy citizens that have left the nation are forced to return and Petra orchestrated the wealth tax - oh she was getting that hate. What happened in the next course of her first term in developing the lands agriculture and logistics. She brought money to the treasury and on the final year of her term she implemented social security and focused on developing city of Petrashaven.


She was voted for a second term. On this term she continued to rebuild roads, expanded on agriculture and focused on the development of Petrashaven. Petrashaven was nothing more than a  construction yard with some groups of wooden country houses and half a dozen fishing wharfs when they started to develop it. The salvaged resources that had been taken from the abandoned settlements were first used to create the first solid roads of the cold marshland. Afterwards through the use of building permits and the money available at that time the city began to experience a massive housing project. The surrounding woodlands have been made into separate zones meant for wood cutting and the settlement's first industrial building was created - a wood mill for making planks. Land was bought around the settlement and they had been converted into cornfields. In her final year of her term she managed to finish the construction of the settlement's coal power plant and enabled the construction of the Drydock, a couple of canneries, the improvement of the existing lumber camps and electrification the residential areas.


Her office term ended and Instead of continuing politics she became a union leader.

Decade of Chancellor Gerd Schwarz - 1930-1940

After Petra had left the political scene there was a debate on who would be suited as chancellor, the one who opposed and critiqued Petra Nebel was Gerd Schwarz who would eventually be given the torch. Gerd and Petra were at odds on each other for a number of reasons. While Petra was good at fixing and solidifying the nation's economy, Gerd had noticed how completely ignorant she was towards the ethnic problems that the lands was still facing. The social reforms had brought her favor at first for minorities and the main ethnic groups alike but she didn't do it for the people. Gerd was the one in charge of quelling the mob voices and dangerous individuals. Racism and various forms of discrimination needed fixing and he was the only one who wanted to do something about it. Not an easy task.


He began to implement reforms that seem too radical at that time. He fought for the rights for those with mental disabilities and individuals suffering mental illnesses. He saw to that people with physical disabilities, (may they be people who've lost a limb, people who have a heart condition or simply those with a deformity or two) could still get employed and made it mandatory that workplaces should at least have 10% of such individuals within their workforce.  Schools and Programs have been made to acknowledge these people - the term 'inclusion' was the idea that took acceptance. Despite his reforms he lacked the specialists in his first term and treatment for these types of individuals would have to develop by itself.


As for the bit in ethnic tensions he did simplistic things - walk around areas where majority of the minorities were located in a settlement, visit exotic stores, religious buildings and occasionally visit certain individuals or spoke people. Those bits had helped establish a correlation between the peoples and schools would later adopt his policy of tolerance or acceptance. After his term was over he became chairman of a liberal political party called the Free Democratic Party thus continuing his political career.

The Five Years of Chancellor Rübert Steinbrück - 1940-1945

This person didn't do much out of the ordinary, in fact he didn't do much at all accept keep the reforms that Ms. Nebel and Mr. Schwarz had implemented. His job was to keep things going until the cabinet could wait for a more potential candidate to take over like the last two. Indeed Rübert already knew that he was a buffer zone between greats but he still tried to improve on some things. For example the nation lacked intellectuals he had noticed and he knew why - most of the population was out farming or working ever since Petra's programs and reforms. Thanks to her the nation's industry is heavily focused on it's agriculture rather than it's industry and it could explain why most workers with high-school education lack certain things to enter a university. For one, money was a big issue for most people and they could only afford up to high school since uni demands more in expenses. Steinbrück thought that he could create a reform to remedy the problem but he realized that he'd have to undo Petra's reforms.

Gerd had stopped a number of Petra's reforms and put an end on all of her projects but the reforms that were left were there to stabilize the economy. Rübert would be pulling a very important cog from the machine and send everything to ruin.He hesitated on creating a reform or by stopping the current ones. The man really wanted more intellectuals to work on the nation's science and so he started his own small project. He was going to finance the construction of an institute somewhere in the nation for the benefit of progressing the nation's tech.


Before finishing his term he made a final donation to the project and returned to his position as a member of the cabinet. He continued the construction with his own salary and from his supporters.

Present Day
​

The Chancellor is Iris Schönwälder, before becoming a chancellor she was the head minister of defense and security - as one can guess she's trying to appease to the militarists. The economy is flowing, domestic matters seem to have quelled more so than in the thirties and  nothing has happened to tip the nation again - perfect time to raise the nation's military spending.

Geography

The land area is 260,300 km². (Small I know, shuttup >:/ )


 The northern portion of the country is complete dominated by the ancient wetlands. The threee rivers, Rean, Aimz and Venna connect to the Northern. Floodplains, marshy grasslands are a common feature the further we go south until we arrive to the Central Great Plains. The country's greatest lake, Queen Janna's Lake rests in the driest region of the northern Wetlands. The hilly terrain of the northern lands cease to exist and are completely flat lands.


The Central Plains is mixture between a wet savanna and a European bush land, dotted with some groups of small woodlands and having a couple of great lakes in it - King Lar's Lake and Illisia's Lake.


Somewhere where the Aimz river splits and branches into the Olmz river is where the Southern Great Plains begins. It's much the same as the central plains with the exception of it's two great forests, the fairy woods.The Aimz river draws the rest of the border of Aslein-Thurg and comes to and end at the tip of the border.

Bio diversity

[COLOR= rgb(37, 37, 37)]Beeches, oaks, and other deciduous trees constitute one-third of the forests; conifers are increasing as a result of reforestation. Spruce and fir trees predominate in the Southern Great Pains, while pine and larch are found in sandy soil in the coasts of the Northern Wetlands. There are many species of ferns, flowers, fungi, and mosses. Wild animals include roe deer[/COLOR][COLOR= rgb(37, 37, 37)], wild boar[/COLOR][COLOR= rgb(37, 37, 37)], mouflon[/COLOR][COLOR= rgb(37, 37, 37)] [/COLOR](a subspecies of wild sheep),fox[COLOR= rgb(37, 37, 37)], badger[/COLOR][COLOR= rgb(37, 37, 37)], hare[/COLOR][COLOR= rgb(37, 37, 37)], and small populations of beavers.[/COLOR]

Before the formation of the Armed Forces every state had kept troops and levies to themselves. Most of the equipment that these soldiers have have not changed much from the times of the Great conflict due to the negligence of supporting the military. The factors of the the revolution and the banishment of the Arkavian troops that have been stationed in there lands have made things unstable especially the economy. The three chancellors that have reigned the nation didn't pay much attention to their military advisers and only supplied the military with miniscule spending to at least say that they have one.


So, Most of the gear that they have is based from tech from the Great Conflict.

Modern weapons

The only thing that they've managed to develop was a new type of sub-machine gun and lastly a disposable rocket launcher. Of course they improved the weapons from the Great Conflict with some upgrades and all but it's pretty obvious that they need new stuff.


Vehicles used during the Great Conflict

Modern Vehicles

The Modern vehicles are the tank destroyer, multi-purposed transporter and two multi-purposed cars. Innovations of anti air vehicles and armored trains are in progress. Tanks are an idea that most engineers have given up on thanks to the poor performance of armored cars and land ships.


Marine and Küstenwache


In the Great Conflict the states have lost their fleets of wooden masted frigates due to the more advance ironclads and dreadnought vessels. So came the creation of sail powered ships built with steel or iron hulls and their own variations of ironclads. These vessels have survive the war long enough to see the present day and have been brought back into service or scrapped to later be reforged into bits and pieces for the new generation. The infantry that are housed or operating on these vessels are being specialized for naval combat.

Sadly the development of making more advanced aircraft receives the lowest amount of spending because of demoralization - to be more sepcific, they don't see a point in creating advanced aircraft because of the advanced aero-technology used by the Terevanyia Air Force. However a small group of intellectuals have manage to push one design through, finished it's prototype phase and produced two heavy fighter planes to join the ranks of the rest of the air force.
