races
Aesir & Vanir
Once two separate pantheons, the Aesir and Vanir fought a war. The latter lost and became a subgroup of the Aesir, thus being referred to as members of the Aesir on occasion. Notable differences do exist in that the Aesir were related to power and war, while the Vanir were connected with fertility, wisdom, nature, and magic. In general, one could call them deities or gods. Not many of them survived Ragnarok. The following list details who survived.

    • Aegir, Vidar, Vali, Hoenir, Vili, Magni, Modi, Hermóðr, Forseti and Ullr
    • Frigg, Freya, Sif, Thrud, Idun, Saga, Eir, Gefjun, Fulla, Sjofn, Lofn, Var, Vor, Syn and Hlin
Here is a list of deities.

Valkyrie
A valkyrie is a female warrior who chooses who may die and who may live in battle. After which, they select half of the slain and bring them to Valhalla. The other half go to Fólkvangr. It is not uncommon for them to be lovers of humans. They are sometimes accompanied by ravens, and are often connected to swans and horses. They serve Freya and Odin.

Jotun
Otherwise known as Giants, they were banished to Jotunheimr after being refused entry to Asgard. Though they usually oppose the gods, there are also some who hold neutral to good relations with them. Many of the giants married the gods. The appearances within this group vary widely. Some range from downright hideous to only having mild deformations, whereas others could be called beautiful and many of the jotun were of similar size to the Aesir and Vanir.

Elves
Split into two, elves comprise of the Dokkalfar and Ljosalfar. The former live in the earth and are swarthy, while the latter live in Alfheimr and are "fairer than the sun to look at". The Dokkalfar are synonymous with Svartalfar.

Other Races
A few more do exist like the voror who is a warden spirit. A voror follows a person's soul from birth to death with the potential to turn into a revenant upon their person's death. There are husvaettir (house spirits) who are keepers of a household. A nisse is a solitary vatte who can cause a lot of damage if unhappy but is otherwise helpful. There are the Dis as well. A ghost, spirit or deity associated with fate, they can either be benevolent or malicious towards humans. It is suggested they were once worshipped by way of a sacrificial festival. Disir sometimes included the norn (similar to the Fates) as well.

factions
Frigg's Faction
Getting into this faction requires taking a rigorous selection test. The faction as a whole isn't terribly big. Their role is to find and retrieve the godly reincarnations. For now, they still seem to be lawful good. A question that is constantly being asked in Freya's and Frigg's faction, however, is why did the gods not return by way of their creation legend?

Members of this faction bear the rune of Eihwaz on their left hand. It is a blessing of protection from Frigg. Eihwaz grants fearlessness and tenacity, protection from spiritual attacks, and slight divinity (able to see the future for up to three days, but unable to predict actions; can see the big picture but not the small one essentially). Additionally, members can also communicate telepathically but cannot read thoughts, and only with one another. They bear an affinity to cats, pigs, falcons, and cuckoos.

Freya's Faction
Likewise, a rigorous selection test must be taken to enter. Like Frigg's faction, the makeup of the members vary widely from demigods to monsters.Their purpose is different-- they are to hunt down sorcerers abusing their power. Worrying plans have been found of a plot to raise something. Some speculate the sorcerers want to merge Helheimr and Midgard together for whatever twisted ambition they have. On occasion, Freya's faction works with Frigg's to capture a reincarnated god (which also functions as their side mission).

Members of this faction has the runes of Fehu and Kenaz inscribed on each of their hands as a blessing of protection from their patron. Fehu grants slightly enhanced speed, an increase in luck, and a mild ability to take from or give energy to a person. Kenaz grants slightly enhanced senses and mild prediction (only about five seconds ahead). Members also have an affinity for cats, boars, falcons, horses, sows, and hares. Many are practitioners of seidr.

Advent:
A small selective group of sorcerers, spearheaded by an unknown leader, the people in here are able to utilise magic skilfully. They are the ones causing trouble on the streets, plaguing people with afflictions. Their intentions as of yet are still unclear. Furthermore, it appears that Advent is trying to recruit a god into their ranks...or already has. Perhaps, a god might be leading them.

Factionless:
Or, you know, it's called N/A on the character application. These are the people who have not joined a faction for any number of reasons, though they're typically uninvolved in the ongoing shenanigans or work alone. The reincarnated gods have proved a worry, however. Some who have regained their memories have gone rogue, deciding to use their powers at their whim, whereas others are trying to find their way back to Asgard. And then there are those who refuse to show themselves.

magic
Magic isn't too uncommon though one does need some degree of aptitude for it. There are the godly abilities that come naturally with what each god governs over, and then there is seidr. Seidr is a type of sorcery and it is believed Freya taught it to the Aesir. Before Ragnarok, there were far more female practitioners and men who practised it would have had committed a social taboo. In this day and age however, neither are discriminated against generally speaking. It really depends on which circle.

Seidr is used for seeing into the future and cursing and hexing others, typically, but involves other applications such as healing and protection. It was once a group effort but a grimoire written by an unknown author (who may still be alive) has shown different ways to conduct the rituals with just one person. As with anything of this nature, it is inherently neutral and the effects delivered forth depends on the user.

You cannot simply swish a staff or wand and have fireballs shoot forth. It requires a ritual which means time.

key locations
These are places which could serve as frequent hangouts or come in handy for certain things.

King's Row - [x] [x] It lies in one of the poorer districts and a motley of people frequent it. It is the place you want to go to for any information or shady dealings.
High Street - [x] It is near King's Row. Just past the row of candles, the street opens up into a mess of shops selling a variety of things. It is usually full of unsavoury people as the goods are...from the black market, typically. Getting in will be hard however, as the area is protected by a sorcerer who questions anyone who isn't a regular.
Covent Garden - [x] One could hardly call this a classier place for trade considering pockets of the former red light district still exist in some parts. But it is a place to go to for lawful goods.
Faction Mansion - [x][x] A mansion owned by a demigod in one of the factions (Freya's faction if no one makes this demigod). It is currently being used by both factions as housing while in Britain. It comes with a music room and a greenhouse. Feel free to add more specific rooms to it.
Advent's Hideout - [x][x] Owned by one of Advent's members, Advent often gathers here for meetings and rituals. It's treated as a chill hangout by some and at least two of them live here (including the owner).
