General Info
Nonhumans tend to be victims of prejudice and used as sources of ingredients by quack alchemists. Many of them are confined to certain areas of cities or excluded from them entirely. Many are seen as unholy creatures, outside of the worship of the One God, Paragon. Fiends and humanoids were all created from standard animals and humans by the Old Kingdom and the Elves. 'Magick', i.e. sorcery, is universally banned outside of the imperial splinter states, though folk magic is still widely practiced despite being discouraged by the Holy Temple.

Arcanians
Elf
Elves are a long-extinct race from an age of bronze, for iron was disdained by them and their fae deities. The Old Kingdom is said to have gained their knowledge of sorcery from ancient elvic inscriptions. Elvic ruins, down to fragments of stones used in their construction, are considered holy relics to magick-worshipers. Baubles from the centuries-destroyed Old Kingdom are said to have similar properties, but are much more commonly found and lesser in value. Elf bones are extremely potent alchemical ingredients, but are likewise used by Sorcerai kingdoms as relics. Most 'elf bones' are fakes. They have been dead for millenia, but their magicks have done a great deal to shape the world and its sorcerous institutions. Elves were over seven feet tall, and had four glowing pink or purple eyes.

Sorcerai
Sorcerai are the race of humans that were kissed by elvic magicks, with bright, glowing blue eyes. These were the elvic favorites of the human species. Nowadays, the vast majority have no arcane powers, though they are united in their worship of elvic ways. Before the Schism of the Old Kingdom, they were the 'master race' of the post-elvic empire, and still make up the nobility and royalty of its remaining splinter states. Sorcerai do not actually have more magickal essence than others - their appearance is merely cosmetic and a sign of status from ancient times. Due to their position in society, they have access to more magickal texts, however.

Humanoids
Cyclops
One-eyed folk with poor vision and blunted minds were created as a servant caste by Sorcerai cults. Their singular eye would be put out as punishment if they ever disobeyed their masters. Other subspecies of humanoids with strange optical features include three-eyed men, four-eyed pseudoelves, and stalk-eyed people.

Dwarf
Stunted humans that were created to delve deep into confined mine shafts. They are usually depicted with beards in art, but do not always grow them in reality. Still used as slaves in the imperial splinter states, in other places they live in mountain and hillside villages, usually removed from the rest of human society. However, dwarves are tolerated more-so than other humanoids, and are sometimes even naturally occurring.

Gnome
Stunts that are even smaller than dwarves - widely considered to be failed versions of the latter that ended up becoming too small to be of much use. They live alongside dwarves, or in isolated communities of their own. Gnomes almost always have beards, not liking to be mistaken for children. They are the smallest and weakest of the humanoids in either case, but are afforded more toleration like the dwarves - the most successful gnomes tend to be entertainers and court fools.

Fiends
Glavelings
Glavelings, a race of cunning, insectoid monstrosities, are a lingering threat. Their fleshnests are ruled by incestuous, hermaphroditic queens that will turn anything with a heartbeat into their living eggsacks and grubfood. Their soldiers peer about with stalked eyes and dig and slice with their wicked, serrated arms.

Snargs
Violent pig creatures that eat human flesh, wield crude weapons and fashion primitive armours from hides. Most of them have been killed off.

Lizardmen
Lizard things that inhabit stinking swamps and also enjoy human flesh, but most of the time they just eat algae and frogs. Snakelings are a related subspecies.
