Queen Cassie is almost always in a white dress of some sorts. For her day to day duties at the Palace, she can be found in a white dress with a light blue translucent robe on top. For more formal events, she has a sleek white dress with gold trimmings. For her outdoor work however, she instead opts out of a dress entirely and wears a practical outfit with a reinforced vest, shoulder plates, simple pants and a cloak.

Personality: Queen Cassie is refined and elegant. She chooses to display herself well to the people of her country and does not shy away from public presence. However, she makes it very clear that she is not to be stepped on and does not hesitate in her actions when the solution is clear, even if it does not look good on her. She has had her fair share of holding public executions for treason, or having to exile people from her Kingdom in front of others who may judge her, but if she believes that is what needs to be done, she will do it.


That does not mean she is not a fair Queen, for she instated a proper justice system of trials and hearings, and letting the public vote on matters that will affect them. She just knows when she needs to be firm and take action instead of lounging upon a golden throne, sipping wine and blinding herself to the things around her.

She is known to indulge the people that she likes and is often generous and hospitable. Whenever other officials from other kingdoms visit, she welcomes them openly and spares no effort in making them feel welcome.

Magical Power: Queen Cassie is half magical on her father's side. She is a mind reader, which makes her duty as Queen much easier because few dare to even think about stepping out of line in fear of her reading their minds. Those that do even think about treacherous actions against the Palace and the Kingdom never last more than a few hours in the Palace once found out, making Queen Cassie equally a feared and respected Queen.


Combat Ability: Queen Cassie is trained in both the pistol and the sword. She prefers a rapier primarily, and any sword over any gun.

History: Queen Cassie was once just a pretty girl born to a noble family. At least, that was what people thought of her. She was very studious and loved to study, read, and most of all, she loved the stars and the sky above. She charted stars for years from childhood and wrote many books on her studies of the cosmos. These books however, were stolen by a rival classmate without her knowing and he claimed the work as his own and presented it to the palace, and the King at the time.

When Cassie found out that her work was being presented to the King and claimed by someone else, she was furious. She stormed up to the palace herself with her drafts and scrolls of the exact work in the books and exposed her classmate in front of the King. While he initially did not believe her, she presented her scrolls and charts that were reflected in the book, and requested that the King test the both of them on knowledge from the book. When the King asked questions from her books, she was able to answer while her classmate was not, proving that he had never even read the books he stole.

As apology, the King offered Cassie the chance to be a scholar at the palace, to which she accepted. She continued her studies of the world and the sky above them for years, until she met the King's son, Walter, her would-be husband. The prince was fascinated by her studies and visited her often. Every time he visited her, he fell in love a little bit more. They married later, making her a princess, and she ascended to Queen after the King died, making the prince and herself King and Queen.

King Walter however, died on an excursion to another kingdom of sickness. Queen Cassie had loved him very much, and did not want to marry again, making her the sole ruler of Ateya.

Personality: Cain is a kind and quirky individual. Considered by most to be a bit of an eccentric. Sometimes he seems calm and focused, as befitting a Wizard. Other times he's outlandish and outright silly. There are times where people look at him making precise calculations without realizing he's trying to come up with the perfect heroic pose to display how cool he wants to be. When it comes to magic, Cain is a massive nerd. He wants to know and understand everything about the various ways in which one can manipulate the mystic energies which make up the world he inhabits. Cain's relationship with Thorn is described as "Close as kin". However it would be more accurate to say that the two are two halves of a whole. While individually they are strong, together they are a complete entity capable of great things. To his enemies, Cain is a thoroughly brutal person. If he has to, he will cover you in oil and scorch your body with magical flames to ensure you aren't a threat to anyone.


Magical Power: As the apprentice of the Great Sage Melissa, Cain is a skilled magic user. Proficient in the art of manipulating magical energy, Cain is considered a prodigy. Many site this as proof of his right to a Dragon. Cain can heal wounds, manipulate the elements, touch the minds of others and manipulate raw mana to enhance his or anothers physical abilities.

Combat Ability: Although trained as a Wizard. Melissa had Cain train physically to build up his muscle and strength. From there he was also taught the basics of combat. As Melissa stated "Once you run out of mana, best know how to hit someone with something hard". As a result Cain has basic knowledge of unarmed, knife and staff combat. However Cain did better in learning swordplay, showing talent similar but not as good as his mother. Cain formed his own style from observing different kinds of swordplay. Though currently his style is still lacking as it isn't very effective against multiple opponents. This necessitates him needing to get his enemies into positions for one on ones.

History: Cain Barzahd was born to a Knight named Elva. Elva never spoke of his father, leading Cain to assume he either died or abandoned them. Cain's early years were spent playing with his mother and her familiar, a Wolf named Silva. She taught him how to read, write and the names of the berries that made his tummy sore. Sometimes she had to go on missions for the Queen, which meant Cain had to stay with his Aunt Melissa. While not his blood relative, Melissa and Elva had known each other since childhood. She was the only person that Elva trusted with her son. It was on Cain's tenth birthday that Melissa found him set a tree on fire with magic. Panicked she put out the fire and explained the dangers of magic to Cain. When his mother returned, she reprimanded him for being so reckless and made him promise to be more careful. Taking him under her wing, Melissa instructed him in magic for the next five years. With each passing year he learned a different kind of magic. Finally on his fifteenth birthday, he was granted a Familiar of his own. Appearing before him with scales of black and eyes of blue was a Dragon. In his attempt to touch the beast, Cain pricked his finger on one of the spikes adorning its jaw. This is how Thorn and Cain met. Years have passed since then and the two have received their notice to become Warriors in service to the crown. Armed with his knowledge of magic, a uniform made by his mentor and a sword forged by his mother. Cain flies to the capital to pursue his destiny.

Personality: Thorn is a confidant and cool headed member of Dragonkind. He always encourages others to go after what they want and deplores those who chain themselves down. Unlike many of his kind, Thorn is not arrogant nor does he assume his power as a Dragon makes him right. While once he thought as such, living with Cain changed him into the strong yet mellow creature he is today. The only time his blood warms is when he eats or battles. In a fight, Thorn is just as calculative as his Rider. Analyzing his enemies behavioral and fighting patterns to devise a strategy to win. Thorn is not above making snide comments when he thinks people are acting stupidly. Cain is the person who means the most to him. Without Cain by his side, Thorn doesn't feel complete.

Personality: Emilia is a rash individual. She also tends to be cold and standoffish. Despite this she also has a mischevious side and can be quite playful and manipulative at times.

Magical Power: (If any) Pyromancy, Emilia can generate fire from her hands and shoot them as blasts of flame
Combat Ability: Due to being an assassin Emilia has learned to be proficient with knives, guns and other weapons aswell as being fast, nimble and stealthy and blending into her surrounding.

History: Emilia despite being an Assassin was born to a noble family house, the Stars, a prominent noble family in Ateya, who secretly works as employed Assassins. Being the heir of the house, Emilia works on overseeing contracts and investigations. Despite this, it is something she does not enjoy and would prefer anything over it but keeps that to herself due to not wanting to let her family down. Sometime later it was time for them to court her, another failed attempt at getting her to fall within the house ideals. That was deemed a failure and they let up and pursued not to continue the courtship after discovering she had a familiar, deciding that marrying her off to some idiot would be a waste of her potential. It is unknown how she obtained a familiar as she does not recall how it happened but she deems it "the best thing that's ever happened to me."

Personality: Owin is a strong-willed individual with a distinct sense of justice. He is a loyal and honorable man and usually falls into the role of protector in a group dynamic. He is completely blind and wears a blindfold at all times, causing many enemies to underestimate him. He has an amazing ability to keep calm even under the most dire of circumstances, but this sometimes makes him seem cold and detached. It would take a very close friend to be able to break the walls he has put up and have him reveal his true emotions.

Magical Power: Even though he is blind, he has the ability to sense the spiritual energy of living things. He is extremely good at predicting his opponents' moves because of this, as he can read an opponent's intended action through their spiritual energy before they do it. Sometimes he is able to catch glimpses of a person's past through this ability, reliving a memory of theirs in vivid detail.

In addition, he also has been shown to be capable of generating flames. The scale of these flames varies depending on how dire his situation is.

Combat Ability: Owin prefers to use a sword and a shield in combat, balancing both defense and offense. Due to training for most of his youth, he is extremely proficient with the weapons, even being able to throw his shield with great accuracy. He uses medium armor, trading some protection for speed and maneuverability.

Species: Lion1546721530832.pngMaximus is a vastly intelligent and attentive beast, and has been shown to have strange abilities of his own, able to manifest a pair of ethereal wings. He serves Owin with his life, as Owin serves his friends and the commonfolk. Owin and Maximus share a particularly strong bond, having been through many near-death experiences together.
History:
Owin comes from a long line of famous Paladins, healers, and royal guards. It is rumored that his bloodline even carries celestial and fey ancestry.

Encouraged from a young age by his parents to fight for what is true and just, he carried the burden through his childhood of walking a narrow path so he wouldn't tarnish the reputation of his noble house. Although at first it seemed forced, he came to find that perhaps serving as a paladin was his calling, as it was the many generations before him. After he officially became a Paladin he would take jobs from the job board, escorting caravans, patrolling the city by filling in for a guard, the usual. He was still a young man when he took a job that went south real fast; A bandit splashed poison into his eyes and he quickly fell into a critical condition. Maximus barely managed to save him by flying him back to town on his back, where the healers were able to save his life but unfortunately not his vision. A few weeks of adjusting to life as a blind man later and he noticed that he was more sensitive to the spiritual energy of others. He honed this skill for years until it was second nature; this was his new way of seeing, with its own advantages and disadvantages.​

Name: Einar Bjarkesson

Appearances:

To call Einar tall would be an understatement. The giant of a man reaches six foot six feet with broad shoulders and a glare that could move mountains if he wished. A thick beard envelopes his sturdy jaw, dirty-blonde hair often braided or drawn away from his face reaches below his shoulders, framing high cheekbones and blue irises, as if he managed to capture a glacier within them. Considering his active lifestyle which forced vigorous physical labour from his early youth to work at the forges, Einar has biceps which could crush a man's neck with ease. However, it's safe to say he's not one for philosophy beyond old proverbs passed down. Outside of combat, he can be found dressed plainly, hands calloused beyond repair, covered in wood-chippings from his whittling. Yet forever is he in favour of lighter armour, chainmail and helm that aid in protection and lessen the hindrance of movement. If you are to meet him waking up or washing down, one may note the various nicks and scars on his tan complexion or the inky swirls of tattoos garnered from his service in military.

Personality:

The Northerner is a contemplative man when he wishes, finding comfort in sitting alone and watching the world go by. This, being one of his reasons to vouch more often than not to watch the camp when others sleep. He is by no measure afraid of nature, only in awe of it. Einar is a cheerful, confident, and loyal member -- often he believes it to be his duty to support others and above all, protect his fellow man or woman when out in the field; a result of his experience of being a mercenary when the fighting bands were small and intimate. Otherwise, Einar believes that every person should try and be what others can be proud of, on the mortal plain or above in the spiritual. He seeks nothing strangely for his own gain, but adventure and the story it leaves, being charitable and comforting when those come to him in need. Whilst he appears and acts the part of the brute, Bjarkesson is a delicate fellow, clumsy perhaps in the presence of those above his status or in places he believes he shouldn't deserve to be. Raised more than respectful and religious, he finds solace in his beliefs which are not spoken of widely and nor is he comfortable being interrogated of them.

Magical Power:

- Can incite the woodland wights to aid him in direction and survival.
- Focuses heavily on the element of earth and stone, but its a low-level ability causing simple structures as he hasn't fully desired to see his potential.


Combat Ability:
With combat training ranging from gilma, a hand to hand style of wrestling and ten years out in the field with all sorts of nationalities and swordsmanship, he finds himself more than adequate at fighting and a hardened warrior with blood that runs hot.

Einar primarily uses a two-handed broadsword, yet secondarily is in favour of the axe - which is used to hook enemies shields and legs out from under them. The small knife he keeps on his belt is for woodwork, or emergency use if he loses both blades out on the battlefield.

Trained under various conditions he takes terrain into his decisions and utilises it whilst in combat, a trick he's picked up from hunting and the desert swordsmen of the far East. From the North he's been educated in his own brute strength, footwork, and the importance of a team -- besides the training he received to be a beserker and enter a state of mind which is ugly and a primal side of humanity many would prefer not to see.
Whilst lacking in being proficient at stealth due to his size, he's learnt the art of patience and laying in wait. His horse riding skills are borrowed from the steep grassy plains to the West, his fists are taught from the camps with foreigners and his heart is hardened to murder but kind to those who need it most.


One thing Einar can't quite ever get the hold on, is ranged weaponry. Even the use of spears is somewhat limited due to his other preference of the more up-close and personal armoury.

History:

Raised in the mountains where the snow fell and the wild wolves howled their lullabies to the sleeping bairns, Einar was born on a cold night where the frost nipped at his toes and pinched his rosy cheeks. The blue-eyed boy was blessed with a name and a warm place to slumber, kept safe by the fire whilst his mother lay sleeping for all her hard work had borne fruit in the end. He grew in a town of miners, farmers, lumberers, and smiths. His father a master of the forge after his leg was lost to war, his mother a sweet woman who had once wielded a sword in her youth, now plump with childbearing and laundry-work. Einar, like every child in that town, ran with the snow in his face, played in the blizzards and climbed atop crumbling ruins. They were wild and taught by the injuries of wooden swords and fists to faces. At the age of nine, he was apprenticed to his father, the local smith to begin working around the forge.

His father was a hard man, a veteran of war alike his mother, but hard in the way he wanted his sons and daughters to be strong. Know right from wrong and understand the consequences of their actions. He took them hunting, told them off in harsh words, and let them sit on his knee as he carved intricate knotwork into wood come late evenings when the fires of his workplace had cooled. It was their father who told them the best stories, of the hidden folk in the hills and the gods above. He'd teach them about trolls and ice giants, witches who ate insolent infants and the nymphs who sat by the riverside in vanity of themselves.

The locals would frequent the wise-women, healers and magic users, priestesses of the spirits above and those below. He was recognised from early on as a child to keep their eyes on and it proved correct. A magic user himself after he would frequently cause tremors when angered, something which only blossomed when he reached ten or so. The shamans requested his presence for two sessions a week to help restrain him and help his ability grow. Unfortunately, he was never one for sitting still and found it confusing enough he barely grasped the basics. He, being as stubborn as the element he represented. Still, seeing how far he'd come, upon his fifteenth birthday he was blessed with a familiar, as all shamans have. Then, given a choice to join them. Talle, a dire wolf cub, equally block-headed was his gift. He refused their offer and turned his sights afar.

He and his father would have a falling out for the decision he made, becoming a mercenary at only sixteen. In an effort to forbid his son, Einar's father only drove him further away. And as a mercenary, he worked from the snowy tundras to the hot deserts under a company named the Red Pavillion. Ten years he spent touring, Talle at his side having grown immeasurable in size until he returned home to find his parents haggard and siblings furious. How could he run from his duties? How could he think to make it up to them now?

So he did what a son of an old bear does, put his head down and pummelled metal at that damn forge day and night until he could call himself a son again. This continued for two years until the message came. Conscription? Something of the sort. Yet the Queen requested him and it was no unfaithful cowardice this time. It was right and to turn it down would be more of an insult.

Species: Dire wolf

Appearances:

A shoulder height of four feet makes Talle an intimidating creature. Five feet long and snowy white fur for camouflage, her teeth aren't made for smiling. Light matured golden-brown eyes can be seen highlighted by darker markings around the sockets but otherwise is a healthy, albeit larger than usual canine.

Personality:
Talle is a wise wolf, having spent her time following Einar from place to place, yet be reminded that her wisdom is oft overshadowed for her vindictive nature. She loves her revenge and refuses to back down from a fight or what she perceives as correct. The only person who may dissuade her is Einar and even he, isn't willing to get between a wolf and it's prey. However, Talle is somewhat a maternal and caring character (no matter how she refutes this), who has a soft spot for children and other women in trouble or innocents. This is often shown when Einar is hurt. Talle, isn't afraid to speak her mind and hate but might be more scared of ever uttering an apology. Loyalty runs strong in her blood, constantly jumping to protect and keep watch of her master or his belongings. Talking back, however, is practically her hobby. She'll do what Einar asks, although it's guaranteed to get a sharp, sarcastic response one learns to ignore.

She has a rather womanly figure, even if she is tall. Her eyes are almond shaped, a tad bit slanted and very dark grey. Her straight black hair reaches her chest. She is as pale as the moon and her skin is adorned by multiple scars. Newton does not wear much more than her poor robes and a hat. Sometimes she is seen wearing a light chest plate and perhaps even some armor on her hands. No more.

Personality: She is an introverted person and keeping a conversation without screwing up at some point and using her poison tongue is hard. To say that Newton is ditzy and a lunatic is quite accurate. There is a hint of 'crazy cat ladiness' in her. She is often seen muttering to herself, humming and preoccupied with her plants. She does not socialize much with others than herself and has gotten to know herself quite well. Newton knows her limits and observes everything around her, noticing the little details. The young woman is a dreamer, her head is always in the clouds and she lives in her own bubble. She is creative and a great storyteller. Sometimes she behaves like an old hag, isolating herself and muttering something about the old days and how they were better. She often carries grudges around for a long time, that's for sure. Sometimes she behaves like a toddler, fawning over every creature, nook, and creek, talking about the greater meaning and beauty of the world. Some might see her as messy, airheaded and unorganized. Don't mistake her for stupid though. Newton knows her way around words and uses her aforementioned observational trait to analyze people and her surroundings. The crazy cat lady will make sure to land on her feet every single time.

Magical Power:
-Newton can solidify shadows and darkness and bend them to her will. Puppets, weapons, barriers- the list goes on. The biggest weakness is strong lights that can battle the darkness. She claims that these shadows talk to her and keep her company, sometimes giving wisdom and sometimes urging her to do unacceptable things.
-Newton can grow and control plants when she sings. It's not much of use when you try to battle someone with daisies and thorny vines if they're holding swords or are choking you, she mostly takes advantage of this power when she is doing her herbalist stuff.
Combat Ability: Newton's upper body has absolutely no strength. It's almost comical to see her try and open jars containing her herbs for example. She does have certain agility, stealth, flexibility, and precision to her though. Newton is quick on her feet and has fast reflexes. She prefers to keep a distance from her opponents and relies heavily on her magic, creating her own puppets to do the close proximity fighting for her. Her mana is quite impressive but once it runs out she tries to pin her opponents down with throwing knives. Her final, last resort is a silver dagger that she uses mostly for ritual purposes or collecting herbs. Once she's disarmed from her magic and weapons, Newton is helpless and her knuckles can't be trusted.



History: She doesn't remember her parents, nor does she know much about where she came from. She has called everything under the skies her home. She was taken care of by many people. Groups of travelers, merchants, monasteries. Maybe sailors that taught her how to fish, perhaps a group of healers showing her the beauty of the world. Maybe a bard that taught her how to properly use her sound. Newton lived a very happy and carefree, wild childhood. She might have been a bit of a silly kid, often talking to herself and talking about silly things but Newton felt very much loved by the community. Eventually, she settled down to live in the edge of Ateya, in a small village that was very much dependent on the river.

Newton soon found permanency in her shadows. They were friends, they talked to her. In the days, Newton would sing to her plants and helped the priestess aunties and sisters with their potions and broths. In the nights, Newton would talk to her newfound friends. Along came her familiar at some point. She doesn't remember much about that either. It was just like her familiar had always been there. She grew up to trust it and found a sense of familiarity in there too.

As the tension between kingdoms rose and the river was endangered, Newton was furious. She had lived such a stable life and someone was here to destroy it? Her skills and enthusiasm to protect everything dear to her soon got the attention of even the queen.

Personality: Basil is a witty, sarcastic and sardonic soul. He will often tease Newton and likes to play games. He might sometimes test the limits and likes to play around with the idea of being unloyal to Newton. But that is all fun and games and Basil has proved himself to be a worthy companion many times. Basil is wise and takes care of Newton, aiding her in every battle and would lay his life down for Newton.

Personality: Elva is direct and blunt with almost everyone she meets. Unless you rank higher than her or have a close relationship with her, she seems gruff. If that hat looks moronic she'll tell you it looks moronic. Elva has been shaped by her experiences. She refuses all romantic relations and looks upon Familiar-haters with displeasure. Elva respects Queen Cassie to a major extent. If Cassie willed it, she would take on an army of thousands with just Silva for company. However she also knows to call the Queen out when she makes a mistake, advising her when needed. Elva isn't too bothered by the awe and fear she inspires in those who have seen or heard of her prowess, finding them uninteresting. While she doesn't show it very often, Elva has a very caring side. She only shows this side to Silva, Melissa and especially Cain. Elva is an incredible worrier when it comes to her son. When it comes to fighting, Elva relishes a challenge. She shows no mercy to those who have earned her full attention and tries to end fights quickly. All in all, Elva is blunt as can be but sharper than the sword she carries.

Magical Power: Elva's magical ability is nowhere near her sons level. Although it is nothing to scoff at. Having been trained by Melissa's mother, Great Sage Emily, Elva focused on magic that would enhance her natural abilities. With her magic, Elva can reinforce and strengthen her body to be stronger and faster than the average human. She can also enchant her sword to increase its sharpness and strength to deal more damage than she could normally. While unable to read minds, Elva was given lessons by Melissa in resisting invasions by mind readers. Even her senses are routinely infused with magic so her awareness is almost on the level of Silva.
Combat Ability: Elva has been described as among the five greatest warriors in the Kingdom. Having studied under the former bodyguard to the last King, she has become incredibly formidable with the blade. Her style of swordplay combines the rigid form of the Ateyan style with the fluidity of the Eastern Style used by the swordmasters in the lands of Kamekura. Wielding a two handed blade, Elva pierces and slices her enemies with both force AND finesse. While specializing in the sword, Elva can also use the spear and the bow. Even if disarmed, Elva is both a skilled martial artist and a master of evasive movement.

History: Elva Barzahd was born into a soldiers life. Her father was a an ace bowman with a falcon for a Familiar while her mother served as a cavalrywoman with her stallion Familiar. Elva knew that she wanted to take up a sword in service to her Kingdom too. From the ages of one to fifteen, her days consisted of training and helping out her friend Melissa. Melissa was the only person who made an effort to befriend Elva, who shunned everything but her sword. It took time, effort and a lot of patience. Though soon Elva returned the companionship. Elva's fifteenth birthday brought both joy and tragedy. As with all youths of the time, Elva received a Familiar. Appearing before her was a beautiful wolf with silver fur and blue eyes. The normally stoic Elva opened up to him for comfort. Earlier that day, she received word that both of her parents had been eaten alive by a Red Dragon. Melissa could do nothing to comfort her friend in her time of loss. The wolf, now named Silva became both Elva's closet confidant and her reason to go on. Taken in by Melissa's family. The two of them entered military service the week after. Life for Elva hinged on the strength of her arm from then on. Elva even began taking lessons in body enhancing magic from Great Sage Emily, Melissa's mother. She fought, killed and battled her way to a position as a Captain in the Royal Army at the age of eighteen. There her talents were noticed by Kanata Whitetrail, bodyguard to His Majesty. Taking her under his wing, Whitetrail trained her in the Eight Moons Style of swordsmanship. Blossoming into both a beautiful woman and talented warrior, Elva Barzahd became known as "Silverblade". Named as such because her magic would give her sword a gorgeous silver glow.

Accompanying her mentor on an excursion, they came across a young man covered in Dragons blood. Raising his blade at them, the mysterious stranger tried to kill them. Whitetrail easily defeated him, though the stranger managed to damage one of his eyes. It was then they discovered, to their horror, that this man had killed a mage and her Dragon Familiar in cold blood. Brought back to their headquarters, the youth was interrogated for days on end. However he remained deathly silent, regardless of what they did to him. It was thanks to Great Sage Emily's mental probing that they learned his name, Yagami. Looking at his memories, all Emily saw was death and destruction. Yagami wasn't a man, he was a weapon made to kill Familiars. Killing the young Dragon was simply so he could cut out its heart for whoever sent him. For some reason, the hearts of Familiars seemed to be his targets. Any attempts to delve deeper yielded nothing substantial, suppressed by years of mental conditioning. Bringing him before King Ateya, Whitetrail made a plea to bring the young killer under his guidance. While King Ateya objected to this, Whitetrail's arguments convinced him. For the next year, Yagami was retrained as a Knight of Ateya. Undoing his mental conditioning took almost six months, from there trying to turn him into a person took another six months. During the Winter season, Whitetrail brought Yagami on a hunt with he and Elva. Elva still cared nothing for Yagami and warned him not to betray them. While soft spoken and hollow inside, he followed and obeyed with question. While attempting to chop firewood, Whitetrail was attacked by a man and his Griffin Familiar. In trying to hold off the assailant, Whitetrail was knocked unconscious by a surprise attack by a Bear Familiar hiding away, its partner having subdued Elva. Seeing the person who gave him a second chance be attacked by these rogues triggered something in Yagami. Picking up the axe, he hacked the Bear to death and stuck the head inside the skull of its Human. Picking up Elva's sword, Yagami threw it into the wing of the Griffin and watched it crash. Gripping the neck of the rider and interrogating him, Yagami learned they were part of the same organization he had belonged to, here to kill him. Saving Whitetrail and Elva, he earned the approval of almost everyone that day.

Elva still didn't trust Yagami, but she started threatening him a bit less. It was in the Summer of the following year when everything would change. At this point, Yagami and Elva had become the strongest in the order, second only to Whitetrail. The amount of times they were sent together on pair missions together had earned them a reputation as "Lovers". However Elva had better things to do than LOVE. The battle of Galinstrad proved to them how much they would need each other. A group known as "The Cagemasters" had enslaved powerful familiars as weapons to wage war on Ateya. They had been sponsored by Ouroboros, the group who had Yagami under their thrall not so long ago. The battle was muggy, bloody and brutal. Both sides suffered heavy casualties, yet it seemed as if Ateya would still win. Then the Dragon came... a Dragon with blood red scales and fiery eyes descended from the clouds and killed many soldiers with its firebreath. This Dragon swept aside the Ateyan forces like it was nothing. Elva knew only one Dragon capable of such devastation, Grigorius. The Dragon who killed her parents would now kill her. Lost in her fear for the moment, Elva failed to notice a flintlock pellet coming at her uncovered face. Silva jumped in the way and was injured. Nursing her closest companion back to health on an active battle field was not optimal. With no hope of winning, Whitetrail ordered a full retreat while he stayed with his men to distract the Dragon. Kanata Whitetrail battled Grigorius alongside three hundred men of his, yet the sea of steel could not overcome it. All fell victim to the fires of the Red Dragon.

Elva mourned for her mentor as she cared for an ailing Silva. Yagami, not giving up hope of killing Grigorius, adopted the name of his mentor. Kanata Yagami sought to make a pact with another Dragon so he could kill Grigorius. Venturing forth to the peak of Mount Ateya, Kanata pleaded with Michael of Mount Ateya to help him in his quest. The White Dragon scoffed at the concept of becoming the partner of a Human like Kanata. However Kanata kept coming for the next two weeks to make the same request. Finally Michael relented and issued Kanata a trial, overcome the Phoenix at the base of he mountain and he would help him. Elva arrived at the mountain on her own hunt for the Phoenix. Securing its tears could save Silva. Both warriors met at the entrance to its lair but refused to give their reasons for coming. Elva didn't trust him and Kanata didn't want her to worry. Inside they found a bird that had no feathers, cowering in fear of anything that approached it. It told its story of how it gave everything to the needy, yet now it had nothing. The phoenix asked them why it should help anyone ever again. Elva performed a seiza and asked for its tears. She explained how Silva had been hurt because of her and how much he meant to her. When the Phoenix repeated its question to Kanata, he shook his head. Gesturing to Elva, he asked it to help her instead. While he wanted revenge, he didn't want it at the expense of an innocent life. Pleased with his answer, the bird dropped its illusion to reveal a perfectly healthy Phoenix. Giving Elva a bottle of tears and Kanata a single feather, the Phoenix sent them off. Parting ways, Kanata returned to Michael. Forging a temporary bond, Michael agreed to help Kanata. The matter with the Phoenix showed Elva just how much Kanata had changed. She began to reconsider her opinion on him.

In training with Michael in preparation for his upcoming battle with Grigorius, Kanata also began to grow closer to Elva. They trained together, ate together and even cared for Silva together. From Michaels back, both of them saw the world in a new light. Elva and Kanata fell in love, marrying in a secret ceremony overseen by Michael and Melissa. Now fearful of losing Kanata, Elva tried to fight Grigorius alone. She was overpowered and left to die. Taken to safety by Kanata, he had Melissa heal her. Confiding in each other their fear of losing one another, the two consummated their love. This was how Cain was conceived. The next morning, while Elva slept; Kanata left to fight the Red Dragon. Both Dragons were powerful, their clashes made craters and holes in the ground that scarred the land. The air tasted of fire, ash, dust and metal. Although equally matched, Grigorius managed to deal a fatal blow to Michael. As he crashed then as he lay dying, Michael gave the last of his power to a wounded Kanata. Taking up his sword, Kanata killed Grigorius by piercing through his heart with his Tachi. Too wounded to carry on, Kanata Yagami, a former murderer turned knight succumbed to his injuries. When Elva arrived it was too late, her husband had died. Shedding tears for the first time since her parents death, Elva wept for a day. Burying him next to Whitetrail, Elva returned to active service to get her mind off of Kanata. It was then she discovered her pregnancy. From the moment Cain was born, Elva did all she could to be a good mother to him. She even took a job as an aide and bodyguard to the Queen to ensure she could keep the land safe for him. When it was discovered he had talent in magic, she let Melissa train him. Even though Dragons had caused her trouble in the past, she welcomed Thorn with open arms... and maybe blades. Nowadays she works as both Sword and Shield for Queen Cassie, both respecting her position and advising her when needed.
