Fairview Academy - Cafeteria

Three meals are served every day, free of charge; an assortment of dishes made by some of the most skilled chefs in the country. Snacks between meals are also available, but for a fee.

The silver-haired woman entered the Cafeteria for a snack between classes, humming idly with her binder in one arm. Constance bought herself a tea and a brownie before seating herself at a lone table. The professor quietly sipped her drink as she crossed her legs and opened her binder to a piece of paper where she was already grading homework from previous classes. She sipped her tea and hummed lowly at the taste as she glanced to it; The woman personally preferred the tea she made on her own, but that had to be the girl from the English countryside speaking within her. A gentle chuckle left her at the thought, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear with a soft smile as she read through paper after paper and graded them with her lucky red pen.

Why was the pen lucky? Because it was one of the few things she’d received from her daughter when she was still alive. Constance recalled the day Luna had given her the pen, and her smile turned to a morose one. She’d graduated from college and had her friends hold onto Luna during the ceremony, and the girl ran up to her afterwards and presented her with a silver, professional ball-point pen with her name engraved into the side. Constance remembered the surge of emotions that flooded her as she swept her child up in her arms, kissing her cheeks and crying.

The last time she recalled crying for her daughter, was at her funeral. She’s gone, Constance… She thought to herself, sighing and shaking her head as she continued grading papers, quietly humming the melody to the lullaby she’d used to sing as she continued grading the papers before her. Work would get her mind off of this; Work, and her good cup of tea…
