  Hundreds of thousands of years ago, the world looked a lot different. The human race was ruled over by a powerful and supernatural race known as The Fae. Of course they didn't look like the little winged sprites we imagine them to be today. They were tall and domineering with pale puckered skin and they possessed magical abilities beyond our very comprehension. Their average life span was nearly 400, 000 years though they lacked the ability to effectively reproduce. Thus eventually most of them died out and the ones who didn't were eventually all killed off by the human revolts. Before they went extinct though, a few of the last Fae infused a tiny bit of their blood into human DNA in an attempt to ensure the longevity of their species. This Fae blood now runs in the veins of all humans going undetected. However this change in human genetics results in a small number of people from around the world being born with supernatural powers. These human could either be a genetic accident born to normal parents, or genetically get their powers from one or both their parents having magical abilities.

  The School
  
  
  This is the reason Charlesmont Boarding School was built. A place for all the young people born with supernatural powers to learn to control them. The school is located in a very remote location, allowing the children to openly use and practice their abilities under guidance from a range of teaching staff. Children are scouted from all around for the boarding school, starting from any age (with childcare facilities, for any children too uncontrollable and dangerous to stay at home until they are school age) until students graduate. It is a rather small school with small class sizes. It is also separated into three houses, Andromeda, for the students with glamour abilities, Lyra, for the students with nature abilities, and Cyrus, for the students with elemental abilities. Although all students can mix freely in their spare time.

  The school is supposed to be a happy safe place for people with powers but it isn't always. With Fae powers comes Fae darkness. Most people with go through their life and not feel any dark pulls but every now and then a ‘trouble’ student pops up. An Elemental student with powers too strong to control, a bored Glamour student with powers that they mastered after only a few years at the academy, or a Nature student with an environmental grudge. The darkness feeds on these people, generally any students noted as ‘trouble’ students are just watched over carefully, and in extreme cases confined to the academy for all holidays. They generally don’t cause too much ruckus.
  
  
  Eleven years ago though, there was one student who made a big ruckus. Her name was Ayane, she was Glamour student with the ability of social magnetism, and everyone liked her so she flew under everyone’s radar. She was smart and dedicated, and after mastering her own powers she craved more. She built up a group of loyal followers using her powers to convince them to join her she was manipulative and convinced all who followed her to do whatever she said. In her second last year at the school she attacked. Her followers caused chaos all about the academy whilst she sneaked into the school vault to steal an enchanted manuscript said to bring ultimate Fae Power to who ever read from it.
  
  
  She was interrupted mid theft though and was forced to flee with only half the manuscript. Everyone knows she will return for the last half and the power she feels rightfully hers, and if the rumours circulating about are anything to go by, she will be coming back soon.
