Dead Like Me

This tab will host the various factions, and common creatures that may be found in Aldurin

SILVER LEGION: A highly militaristic group of human elitists, most notable for being imperialistic and evil. The Silver Legion has earned its name by both its ideals, believing in maintaining purity and power among one mater race, and by their overwhelming numbers. Each member of this faction is trained in military fashion and given silver armor, sword and shield. Using uniformity and tactics they have become a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. The Silver Legion obeys a king, the king of the legion however is not born of nobility, but it is a rank that can be earned by any, but achieved by few. There is a short history of kings who have commanded the legion, but they are said to be like gods trapped in the body of a mortal, able to mow down small armies alone, and command their own as naturally as breathing. These kings are juggernauts not to be trifled with.

It is traditional for soldiers and commanders in the legion to make slaves of their enemies, and any one soldier has been seen in charge of as many as 30 different slaves at a time. Fifty years ago the Silver Legion had swept through the forests and mainlands of Landfall claiming territory, they had found many small colonies of a race of hybrid elves. These beast-kin had been slaughtered and enslaved in all but a year, and what remains of the species is usually found in shackles scrubbing the floors of legion officers. These soldiers commonly removed the ears from the beast-kin making them wear them as necklaces to symbolize the dominance the legion now holds over them, and as a mark of shame.

The Legion controls a large amount of territory to the east of Landfall, cities run entirely by humans, though widely populated with slaves. Their cities have heavy taxes, and higher security with strict laws. Most of these laws can be punishable with either life in prison or death, many laws revolving around aberration of freeing slaves, or hiding refugees. Though almost no one commits crimes in legion controlled cities, because of the heavy penalties that had been carried out on a daily basis in the past.

THE COVENANT: A group of rangers and forest dwellers turned rebel alliance. Many species being enslaved by the legion, and pushed out of cities based on race have had no choice but to dwell in the vast forested areas, but with no safe havens in the wilds they had to band together just to stand a chance. The Covenant is a spiritual group to say the least, they believe that the earth will always provide everything they need, but with city dwellers destroying many of the forests, and hunting animals to near extinction they work together as guardians of the wild. The Covenant consists largely of wood elves, human rangers and hunters, and what little remain of the beast-kin. After the Silver Legion hunted down and enslaved many of the beast-kin species the Covenant had become their sworn enemies.

The Covenant had formed a sacred unspoken bond with much of animal kind, and many wild animals serve under them. A few members of the Covenant even have the secret ability to commune with all animal species, and are usually part of scouting parties, and organizing raids against the Silver Legion and the Nightwalkers, as they can gather strategic information through animal companions. In any other faction these rare individuals would serve as high ranking officials, but the Covenant holds no ranks, and every member is an equal, risking life and limb for their cause. Each member of the Covenant uses their own hand crafted gear. Leather, bone and metals recovered from their foe's equipment are used and recycled by the Covenant leading to a disorganized, but resource efficient source of arming themselves. It also makes it harder for enemies to prepare for their attacks since there is no standard gear or strategy, they fight as the beasts do.

The Covenant controls no actual territory, but has a large scattering of villages, camps and dwellings where they live and prepare for their next battles. Money is useless to this faction as they rely on everything the land can provide for them, there are also now laws binding these men and elven kind, but instead a set of morals that all members follow.

THE NIGHTWALKERS: After the infinity wars from over two thousand years ago there were many demons left lost and without a home to call there own, now the most vilified and hated group by man and elven kind they were forced to co-operate with each other. Later on the sentient undead would eventually join their ranks, like liches, vampires and necromancers. The Nightwalkers have become sick with the way the world is run, and want to rebuild it by tearing it down. They'll be all too content to see the world burn so that from the ashes a new one may rise up where the strong will get to thrive.

There is no army, nor leaders, it is a hierarchy of power. The demons and undead value the strong, cunning, and clever, and as such many of the Nightwalkers behave independently from each other all trying to prove their worth to the cause. A group not bound by laws or restraints they do what they want when they want, and as such have earned the hatred of the other two warring factions. Many of the demons and undead will rely on foul magic, and abominations to fight their battles, when they march on the battlefield it is described as a walking nightmare.

The Nightwalkers are banished from nearly all civilized places on Landfall, and as such usually operate from hidden villages and the underground cave network known as the Core. As a stark opposite to many cities on Landfall, demon controlled ones will banish most human and elven kind, and on other occasions have been known to take slaves and prisoners either to preform rituals on them or auction them off as property as signs of friendship among each other. It's a ruthless world they live in, but one they feel they have been forced to live in from the oppression of the other species.
