This profile is not really complete and not representative of everything you should include. (See the profile skeleton.) This is to give you some ideas regarding a character. I intended to use this character, but i think I will just stick to using the NPCs and townspeople.

  • Azazel's father had always told him stories of his grandfather, Shen Grigor. Shen was a proud member of the Crentalene military, he marched along the skies with his dragon, and brought the Grigor name up from the depths. Prior to that Azazel's family were urchins, they slaved away day in and out within the cruel mines, barely getting by. Shen sought to change that fate, so he chased after the sky. He was scrutinized and laughed at along the way, until a dragon he had met took an interest in him. They formed a bond with one another, and together they served the proud country of Crentalene. Soon after Shen started a family with a beautiful woman he affectionately called Val, which was when Azazel's father was born. Azazel's father was an adventurous type, who also chased after the clouds. He climbed towers and mountains and anything he could find to achieve that goal. That was until fate deemed him incapable of following the same path. Azazel's father suffered traumatic injuries to his spine after falling several yards. He could still function normally, to some degree, but too much movement caused him a great deal of pain. Azazel's father purchased a small shop with the coin he received from his father's passing and spent most of his life there sulking. He was lucky enough to find companionship, which relieved a great deal of the sadness he felt. As soon as Azazel was born his career was decided, he would serve the military just as his ancestor did before him.
The idea was drilled in to his skull daily, his home was decorated with symbols of the military and paintings that his father had purchased from nameless artist. He was read stories of the countries bravery in the great dragon wars, and he had no reason to see his country as anything but great. When he grew older he started to handle a lot of the trade for the shop. This involved travelling large distances, typically on horseback. He was tasked to retrieve a, shield blastia, a rare relic from the dragon war era that his father has had his eye on for awhile. He took his father's sword and some additional supplies for the long journey. It was strangely peaceful, he passed a few small villages, but other than that he rarely encountered people and he never once felt threatened. He traveled until dusk, before setting up a small camp like his mother taught him. The night was quiet for some time, until a thunderstorm started without warning. A spark of electricity that came from the sky immediately awakened him. His horse whinnied and broke free of his leash at the terrible sound. Azazel's eyes stared upwards towards the twisting sky.
There was a ferocious battle between beasts, a feathered dragon was engaging a larger dark scaled dragon with had sharpened claws. Azazel prayed that he did not get caught in the crossfire between the monsters. It seemed the feathered dragon was holding his own until the larger one tore across its back and wings with its mighty claws. The feathered creature fell from the sky and landed less than a mile away from Azazel. He could not resist the urge to investigate the landing site. It was then, where he saw the same feathered dragon with snow colored scales. The poor beast suffered fresh wounds from the previous confrontation, it's left wing was torn with deep scratch marks decorating the same side.
The creature was completely motionless to his approach, and remained that way when Azazel sat by its side. The wounds were deep but the dragon was sturdy, Azazel doubted that it was dead. It would just need time to roost and regain its strength, a task that Azazel would aid it in. He spent the entirety of the next day hunting and gathering food for the feathered dragon. The dragon, called Nazeer ate every rabbit that Azazel had brought him, as they spent several days together as companions. Nazeer agreed to carry Azazel to accomplish his task as a display of gratitude. The seller of the shield blastia was upset by the delay, but he still ended up selling it to Azazel, thanks to the excitement he received from getting to meet Nazeer. The plan was for Nazeer to drop off Azazel some distance away from the Crentalene capital, before returning to his hunting ground to battle the invading dragon. Although, Nazeer's opponent had found him first. The feathered dragon could not find the time to land, so Azazel was forced to accompany him on this battle. The larger beast charged at them time and time again, barely missing his mark on several occasions. The battle seemed no different than the last time the two beast engaged, if Azazel didn't interfere in some way it was likely that they would both die. Nazeer's stamina was waning, so Azazel tried to test his luck, he held the ancient shield towards the dragon, in a desperate attempt to block its next strike. He was desperate, his only hope was that the shield still had some power fueling it. The opposing dragon aimed for Nazeer's wing but he met the shield instead. The blow was reflected, but Azazel was sent flying off Nazeer's back. The feathered dragon took full advantage of this by biting a chunk out of his enemies neck, before saving Azazel. Their debt to each other became quite apparent, which resulted in the pair forging a spirit pack, before returning home.
His father was upset because of his long absent, although when Azazel told him of his tale he seemed to light up for the first time in awhile. He made little delay with informing the government of his spiritual pact, keeping secrets would result in trouble. Nothing too bad came from it, although he did notice how closely he was being investigated. He had absolutely nothing to hide, so he felt relatively secure in his trust of the Crentalene empire. His career as a dragon rider didn't mean a whole lot at first, he was mainly used just to disperse groups of bandits. Lately however, things are becoming a lot more tense. There are rumors that the government of Crentalene have committed horrendous acts against their people as well as dragons. Azazel has dismissed these horrible rumors as lies. The rebellion is just a greedy group of outcasts that seek to gain power over the government, using any lies that they can fabricate. The disgusting group of bandits even went as far as kidnapping a royal member of Crentalene. He will proudly bare the emblem of Crentalene until the day that he dies.
