I would read this thread to make sure you understand everything before making a character/asking questions that are being answered here.

What is Equinox OnlineIn-character it is the first MMO to use a virtual reality technology similar to what is seen in Sword Art Online.

The premise of this MMO, inspired by Warframe and Jame Cameron's Avatar, is that in-game, the players are advanced military operatives on Earth in the Celestial Guard mentally linked with an artificial body made with their DNA known as a Caeles that is in space. Their goal is to fight off various forms of aliens, rouge Caeles, and various others that make up the game's missions and quests.

What is the Plot of the RPThe roleplay's plot is similar to SAO's in one aspect, but entirely different in everything else. The game has been out for a long while now, around a year, when this party of players find a glitch to farm experience and loot. Like most MMOs, the anti-cheat software quickly bans their accounts. Yet, while doing so it accidentally triggers some work-in-progress files the developers forgot to remove, causing the issues we have here.

All players logged in at the time momentarily blacked out as their consciousness was materialized in game aside their now lifeless character (meaning their body still exists in real life... if that wasn't obvious.) If not in a social hub or somewhere safe and with oxygen at the time of waking, the player quickly died. Before the developers could deactivate the hostile AIs, around 60% of players were killed in-game due to either suffocation or slaughtering, thus leading to their death in real life.

Being trapped in the game was an accident, not anything born of malicious intent.

Anyone who was able to remain alive now had the option of controlling their Caeles to keep fighting and finding a way out. This is where inspiration from Avatar comes into play. In order to withstand space, be able to respawn, and essentially not die horribly, the now stuck players can form a mental link with their character, their Caeles, to keep doing what they do and protect their human body.

It has been around three years since the initial accident happened, and after various legal battles the developers are still working on getting the players out, but also using this as a chance to develop new ideas for the game and technology as well.

What is a CaelesA Caeles (plural, Caeli) from a real-life perspective were just the player's character/avatar model that appear like the warframes in the game warframe. Nothing too special there until the players were materialized beside them, being able to then control them ala avatar.

From an in-game lore perspective, they are celestial beings charged with cosmic energy that were made from the genetic material of the "player" (the unseen military pilot only there for background info.) They are able to exist without oxygen and are only controlled by the neural link from the pilot (the player themselves after being shoved into the game) thus making them extremely valuable in terms of space combat.

Caeles have two types of polarity. One is light energy, the other is dark. Aside from giving them a fancy glow-y effect around them to be cool, they get minor electrical abilities pertaining to it as well as its their life source. A caeles has a limit to how long it can remain active without needing to recharge, which would take a few moments and replaces its need for eating and sleeping. Using their electrical ability also drains this faster so it needs to be used sparingly. They also can use a variety of weapons with almost innate talent, almost.

With the game now much more life-like, a pilot cannot remain in their Caeles forever. After around a full 24 hours, negative effects begin to arise such as migraines, trouble focusing, and so on to even losing fine motor skills, senses, or worse. If the pilot pushed it too far, the neural link is forcefully cut and they are pushed back into their rightful body to rest.

A caeles appears much different from a human in that they are technically made of alien material. They stand an average of 8 ft for females and 8.5 for males, being much larger and physically capable than a human. They heal much differently and can regenerate even lost limbs should they have the energy to do so.

FAQAre they trapped in the game?
Yes. Anyone who is currently in the game has no HUD to log out with, and anyone outside of the game is unable to log in.
What is Warframe?
An online MMO that is free-to-play. You don't need to know anything about this game, just use some of its images as it was a large inspiration for this roleplay.
Can my Caeles be a different gender than my character?
For simplicity's sake, no.
Is their body still in the real world?
Duh, that is answered above.
Whats happening with their body in real life?
Most likely in one of the many hospitals around the world that took in these people. Their connection to the real world is severed so they are unable to sense or move about there.
Can my character be a famous youtuber/streamer who got trapped?
No.
Can there be duplicates of frame-claims used?
With different color schemes, yes.
Do we get the frame's abilities?
No, only their look.
