 Fenris was born a cripple, one of his hind legs malformed. This was as good as a death sentence in a hunting-oriented pack like the Northern Trappers. If not for his father Lyall's intervention, Fenris would have been killed at birth. As a pup, Fenris would sometimes entertain the thought of becoming a hunter. He knew it was a farfetched dream, but the idea of trailing a herd, of working together to take down their designated prey, made his skin tingle. He envied his brother Lykaios, who could hunt and fight with the rest of the pack. Most of the pack hated Fenris, as they held the belief that a malformed pup was an ill-omen. Fenris had resigned himself to being a shunned member of the Northern Trappers, but as fate would have it, that would not be the case. After a particularly unsuccessful hunt, Lykaios entered into an argument with their mother. As things became more heated, Lykaios lost control and struck their mother down. Blinded by grief, Fenris attacked his brother. At that moment, he could think of nothing more than revenge. But as soon as he tackled his his brother, Lykaios screamed for help. Fenris was pulled off of Lykaios, and from there, it wasn't hard for him to convince the pack that the already disliked cripple had gone mad and murdered their mother. With the odds stacked against him, Fenris knew there was nothing he could do. He fled from his home, from everything he had ever known. He spent some time alone, until he joined the pack of Borealis as an Epsilon.
