Emily tends to seem apathetic to most situations, but that’s only partially true; When she sets herself a goal, she tends to focus on only that, not wanting anything to stop or distract her from completing whatever goal or objective she’s set for herself, so she does her best to block anything unrelated out. Emily also finds it hard to give up on a goal that she sets herself, normally doing whatever she can to finish it, even if it becomes even more difficult, refusing to fail.

Emily likes to consider herself loyal, keeping whatever promises she makes, treating them like whatever goals she sets herself. Because of this, Emily also takes promises seriously, even ones that are made by other people. Emily absolutely hates failing, more than anything else, and it’s the one thing that she can’t help but let affect her. She will also sometimes go out of her way to help people, always wanting to do something nice for people to brighten up their day, though that’s provided that she’s not already trying to complete a goal that she’s set herself

History:Emily was born into a family that was already struggling to make ends meet, both her mother and father working full time and barely scraping by. Emily, in fact, wasn’t even planned by her mother and father, she was a mistake, and her mother only ended up keeping her due to her family’s beliefs. Which only ended up putting more stress on her parents to make ends meet. And her parents, even though they’d like to say they didn’t, held it against Emily, constantly shouting at her for asking for small thing, like dolls and sweets when she went shopping with her father, which normally resulted in her crying, since she was only three and didn’t really understand why she was being yelled at for asking for something small.

Throughout the years, as she grew up, Emily’s parents tried to not shout at her as much, finding a different solution to stop her from asking for stuff, by promising each year, that if she was good, she’d get whatever she asked for, for christmas.. Which ended up not happening, which upset Emily, and caused her to get shouted at,, for asking where the thing she asked for was, with them saying she should be happy she got anything at all. Still, Emily stayed hopeful and believed her parents the next year, and the next, and the next, wanting to believe that they weren’t just lying to her.

Not long after she turned 14, her mother got made redundant, which put even more strain on her parents, her father ended up just to focusing on working and nothing else, while her mother turned to drinking to cope.. Which resulted in arguments between her father and her mother, almost all the time her father wasn’t at work. One night, Emily went downstairs to get a glass of water, after waking up in the middle of the night and feeling thirsty, when her mother came home, drunk. She started yelling at her, telling her that she didn’t deserve anything from her, When she tried to just walk past her mother and go to her room, her mother grabbed her by the wrists and got in her face and continued yelling at her. Emily continued trying to get away from her mother, not wanting to escalate the situation.. But she ended up accidentally pushing her mother, and her mother retaliated by slapping her, hard, before pushing her away and yelling at her to go to her room.

The next day, when she went to school, Emily’s teachers noticed the bruise on the side of her face, and asked her to stay behind after class that day, where she was asked by her teacher how she got the bruise, and if anyone was bullying her. Emily ended up breaking down crying in front of her teacher, who attempted to comfort her. When she had calmed down, she told her teacher what had happened, which lead to her teacher asking more questions, which Emily truthfully answered. Emily’s teacher promised her that she’d get her to a better place

A couple of days later, Emily and her parents got a visit from the child protective services, and her mother, even though it was the middle of the day, was drunk. After her mother being labeled unfit to look after her, and her father being unable to, with him working full time, Emily was put into care, where she was only slightly better off. Every so often, a couple of potential foster parents would come through, and whenever they did, Emily was promised that she’d get adopted and taken to a better family.. eventually Though that never happened, and with each visit, and each broken promise, she became less caring about the whole process. When she was sixteen, Emily got a basic job, and spent all the money she earned, on getting the things that she asked for, but never ended up getting.. Which helped her to feel slightly better, though it didn’t really make a huge difference to her. When she turned 18, she was sent out into the world, and luckily, her boss ended up hiring her full time, having a position open up. She made just enough to afford to rent a small apartment and food for the entire month, which she felt was all she needed.
