Elysia was the only daughter of the family of five, and she was also the youngest. Her Japanese mother was a doctor and her Australian father was a very successful businessman. She was born when her family went over to Japan for a holiday and visiting her mother's family, and was raised in Australia. Due to her parents' occupations, they were rarely home, so she was taken care by her brothers. They agreed that they each will take turn taking care of Elysia. When they first started, they stayed at home with her but as time goes by, they took her with them wherever they go. During this time, she was also tutored at home.
At the age of five, her parents sent her to a private school. One her first day, her brothers followed her all the way to her school and would glare at anyone who looks at her the wrong way. At the age of seven, her eldest brother and herself got into an accident. The crash should have killed them, but her brother saved her using magic. From then on, she was fascinated by magic and decided to learn magic. When she was able to learn magic, she begged her parents to send her to Horizon Academy and after weeks of asking, they let her. She was accepted into the Academy that year, at the age of fifteen.
