Magic is just Science unexplained
For 2 centuries humanity has thrived on science and on logical thought, leading us to today in 2016 where humanity now still thrives all on their own. We have cities, electrical power, cars, trains, we have technology, we can do anything if we put our mind to it.
But 2 centuries ago, we lived very different lives, where science was not sought or discovered, but instead, we used magic.
Or at least, we lived with people who could use magic.
We used to live with wizards, warlocks, witches, sharing meals and homes with them. We used to live with magically inclined creatures, imps, gremlins, goblins, trolls, and we would share the burden of labour with them. We used to live with dragons and earth snakes being close by, in their homes in the mountains not far.
We used to be with them, walking side by side with them, they were our brothers and sisters, and mothers and fathers.
We, us normal humans, who could use no magic, used to live in the magical world. We even established the city of Tenza together, the streets and some of the oldest buildings were built by both us and them. Though the city has grown and expanded.
We had lived forever with them, till they vanished.
In the early 1800's, when the city of Tenza had only just been established, those of magic suddenly vanished without a trace. It left many confused, sad, and hurt, as our friends and family had disappeared, but humanity strived on anyway without our companions.
Since then, we have lived without the influence of magic. Magic is considered fiction, used only to tell in stories, and nearly no one believes in it. We live with our cars and smartphones, our fast food and electric trains, we haven't encountered magic for over 2 centuries.
Until now.
