The King of Egypt Herself
Official Name: The Drathian Fylkirate of Andromeda
Demonym: Drathian
Government Type: Constitutional Monarchy
Leader(s): Fylkja Taka 'Ghost-Eye', Council of Planets.
Galaxy: Andromeda Galaxy
Territory: The Drathian Fylkirate is situated within the outer rim of the 6 o'clock zone in the Andromeda galaxy. They have a single system within the Milky Way, within Colonial territory.
Number of Systems: 30,000 in total, 30 inhabited.
Influence Rank: 4, Galactic Power in the Andromeda Galaxy
Capital World: Drathia, a continental planet with nearly constantly dark skies on account of the black clouds within its atmosphere. The wildlife of the planet has adapted to these night time conditions, with most species sporting some semblance of luminescence, or night vision.
Population by Race: 150 Billion Drathians, 300 Billion Keltakens, 7 Billion Goblonians, 2 Billion Humans, 500 Million Other.
Technology Rank: 7.5
FTL Travel: Wormhole Travel, specially designed claws on Drathian ships tear temporary holes in space-time to jump from system to system.
Technological Development Focus: Drathian technological focuses are mainly in bio-engineering, genetics, and chemistry. This sees both military and civilian use.
Exceptional Technologies: The signature of the Drathians is their use of corrosive ammunition in their weaponry, and modified organisms meant for warfare.
Culture: Drathian culture places high importance on loyalty to the office of the Fylkir. However, the Mind Flower, a gigantic plantoid organism situated on Drathia, plays a key role in the religious lives of many citizens in the Fylkirate, who may worship it as a god or great advisor. Drathian culture also has strong traces of xenophilia, with an almost fetishistic desire for human artifacts and histories in particular. On the very opposite end of this spectrum is a hatred for the Keltaken people, who are regularly faced with discrimination both on a social, and official level.
Government: The head of state is the Fylkir, who has executive authority over the Fylkirate and may declare war, or represent the Fylkirate during diplomatic meetings. The Council of Planets is a legislative body which exercises only limited power, and is composed of the governors of each inhabited world within the Fylkirate. This comes at an exception for the position of the Keltaken Representative, who represents all Keltaken Worlds, which are limited to a specifically designated Keltaken Sector. The Mind Flower is both a religious, and political figure, and will designate the next Fylkir through means of telepathic communication. Thus, the church and state of the Drathian Fylkirate are one and the same.
Military: The Drathian military is designed mainly for defensive operations, and will rarely invade another state save for liberation purposes. There is a heavy focus on organic weaponry, and so genetically modified beasts are commonly seen alongside armoured vehicles and infantry troops. The Fylkirate also maintains a fully armed space navy, which it uses whenever possible. In recent years, the Fylkirate has increased its military budget dramatically.
History: Originally descended from the Invaders from between the galaxies, the Drathians began tribal over a long period of isolation from the rest of their people. This tribalism was suddenly ripped into the space age as Human Colonial forces and the Keltaken army began to strong arm for influence over Drathia. The result was a nearly dead planet, and millions of homeless Drathians. Spreading throughout the galaxy in fractured factions, the Drathians finally united (albeit shakily) under Zlasa 'God-Seer', who became the first Fylkja of the Drathians.
Multiple wars followed as the Drathians struggled to find their place among the diplomacy of the stars, constantly shifting favouritism between the Federated Colonies of Mankind, and the Keltaken Empire. This struggle was cut short by a Civil War within the Fylkirate. Long years of fighting ended with a loyalist victory, and the ascension of the second Fylkja of the Drathians, Taka. Since then, the Fylkirate was been working to prevent another civil war by encouraging the dissolution of now obsolete tribal identities, and building a powerful military.
Goals and Hooks: The goals of the Fylkirate are to form its own alliance of nations within Andromeda, separate from the Keltakens or Federated Colonies. Additionally, they wish to rebuild after the civil war, and explore previously uncharted planets within their territory.
Misc. Notes: Xenophilic as they are, Drathians love to meet new alien species. They are quick to befriend new contacts.
