Dragons are mighty creatures that have existed since the days of yore.
In the past, dragons lived in mountains and lakes, but as civilizations grew, they turned on men, and hailed from their nests, attacking their kingdoms, burning their villages, devouring their people. They live for hundreds of thousands of years, some even believed to be ageless. Their magic is stronger than that found in the Physical Realm, and they fear none but Celestials themselves.
Each dragon is different, but they all share the same main and defining traits; they are all huge in comparison to men, the smallest of dragons known to be no smaller than a full grown elephant. Their bodies are covered in scales, be them rough or smooth, and that are hard to pierce, making them almost invulnerable to all weapons of man or beast. They all have long and sharp talons which they use to shred their enemies, and sharp teeth to tear their prey apart. Some have feathers or hair, others completely bald like a snake or a lizard, or covered in slime that protects their bodies. Most can fly, but many cannot. Some live on land; hidden in forests or caves, others underwater, or on mountains, or even the ruins of the greater kingdoms which they have ruined.
It also appears that dragons are quite diverse; there are many species, of all shapes and sizes, with all sorts of magic. Some can talk in the tongues of man, some can fly but with no need for wings, some can disappear. That makes them quite dangerous and unpredictable.
