Doctor Calgori

Minister of Science, Shhh.....
Name: Doctor Scope - Argus Sckope

Age: Late 30's

Gender: Male

Posting Color: Maybe Later

Appearance: Takes the appearance of a stout man of German descent. Usually wrapped in a doctor's coat, prone to archaic dress clothes when out and about. Thick spectacles wrapped perpetually around face. Slight German accent. Slight tendency to burst into a mass of wriggling endoscopes.

Species: Spirit

Spirit of medicine, specifically endoscopic surgery. Sustenance is hidden mending and the work of doctors unseen.

Pact of the Endoscope

The doctor may not harm his patients

The patient must be willing

The doctor must be able

The doctor must work unseen

The stitches must be hidden

The work must be the doctor's will

The doctor must hate those instruments that rend the flesh

Character Skills:

Wit beyond Measure: Scope, like his peers, is lively and deadly with the scalpel. In particular, his emphasis on seeing through to what lies beneath lets him cut tissue, extract bullets, mend scars, and change faces with more precision than would otherwise be possible. He specializes in non-invasive surgeries, and particularly odd surgeries such as sewing hidden weapon compartments through people's flesh, or cutting out faces to replace with new ones.

Man's Greatest Treasure: Scope knows. With the unerring edge of a scalpel the doctor reads into subtle cues and hidden language to crack lies which would leave most hard boiled detectives spinning.

Trust me, I'm a Doctor: Scope may not be the nicest of men, or for that matter, the most...natural, but what he lacks in tact, he makes up for with professional air. Even tough gangsters and crooked cops can trust the doctor with their secrets, and his professional face will keep them locked away and secret for all of time.

Credible: One of Scope's best faces sits on the Board of Health of both the city and the nearby regional hospital. Within the spirit community, he is well regarded, even for his youth.

Disadvantages:

Spirit Flaws: Each one has its own, and while I usually don't like stacking race/personality disadvantages along with true ones, I'll put it here.

Hold the Sauerkraut: Scope is built, looks, speaks, and eats like a German. In light of the Great War and subsequent explosion of nationalism (MURRICAN-ism), this is turning out to be farm more of a problem that it should be. He may be respected for his intellect, but he's hated for his lineage by the more common folk; more than often he's had racial slurs thrown at him by his own patients, even during surgeries.

Come out, come out...: Scope is incredibly nearsighted, and requires thick glasses in order to see anything at all. His grasp of the world ends at about ten feet from his face, and from there on out, it's a blur.

When in Doubt, Pinky Out: Scope is a doctor, above all else. The trappings of the world are as disdainful as they are foreign, and he prefers not to associated with the struggles on the street. As a result, don't ask him for directions. Or to do anything helpful outside of building built without mahogany.

Turn your Head and Cough: Scope is not as good as some of his spirit peers at blending in with people, and a lot of folks know there's something not right with the good Argus Sckope. Thankfully for him most people just write it off as a combination of Kraut and doctor mannerisms.

Motivation: Prosper within Chicago

Profession: Serves as a consultant on the city Board of Health. Surgeon at the University of Chicago Medical. Black surgeon for a few mob bosses.

Interests and Hobbies: Scope's work is his hobby: in his spare time, he does what is closest to face craft, by sculpting false faces out of clay and wood. He's taken rather fondly to theatre, although not the new stuff that the kids listen to.

Personality: Scope does care about his patients, yes. But what could be better for the patient than a groundbreaking discovery in the field of medicine? How about some fresh organs? A few more eyes? Better flesh? Scope looks at the city as a whole, and people are more marvelous machines than they are actual individuals. Something to be sculpted to the doctor's desire.

Opinions: Scope considers all things with equal patience. Nevertheless, he is an active member in the political community, and does what he can to sway the way of mortal lives. He is neither opposed nor a fan of crime itself, but appreciates the business it brings.

Scope enjoys the company of other, more refined spirits. The brutish fighters and troublesome ones all too common in the city are met with as much disdain as the doctor can force from his essence. Other creatures, however, are fine in his book - Doctor Scope is not picky with his patients.

History: Scope was created after a biannual joint meeting between American and European spirits, and a careful collaboration between Medical and Scientific spirits. Imaging, they had decided, was the future of both disciplines, and in a careful rite of splitting, the respective parties split themselves into a number of new spirits, Scope being among them. He was made in the image of the Endoscope, a particular new design in which the American committee saw a great deal of advantage.

Since then, the Endoscope hasn't payed off, and Scope's been placed on reserve, delegated to a respectable, but rather lackluster, position at the head of an spirits stronghold in Chicago. In other words, a polite indication of disappointment in his achievement. Scope has taken this personally, and seeks the day when he ascends to the top of the medical spirit hirearchy.
