March 6th, 1945. Operation Frühlingserwachen, launched in Hungary to re-take Budapest. The German Sixth SS Panzer Army, with assistance from the Hungarian Third Army, were to attack North of Lake Balaton. They were also protecting some of the last Petroleum reserves available to the Germans. They would push east through the Soviet 27th Army and then advance to the Danube River. After re-grouping, one part of the Army would create a northern spearhead and another part would create a Southern spearhead. Southern units would re-group with Army Center E, which was to thrust north through to Mohacs. The plan was ambitious, and the last of the reserves of the German Military were being used.
