Attire: Decimus can usually be seen wearing a dark leather jerkin over a black mithril laced doublet left open at the neck. On his right shoulder is a hardened leather pauldron and draped around his waist a belt with 8 pouches and holsters for his dagger, sword, and pistol. His pants have additional pockets and are black. His boots are make of hide, leather, and iron. He is usually wearing a hood over his head, and he wears gloves of reinforced leather with iron bolts on the knuckles. Over this he wears a long, dark coat with three straps to secure the front, but it is left open.
Without his clothes on, Decimus is covered in tattoos of warding sigils and protective spells. His teeth are not pointed, but they are sharp.
- Personality
While Decimus is quite cordial, gregarious, and generous to those he has found amiable enough to not have been killed immediately, he prefers to live a solitary life-style. He is content to keep his circle of companions to a small Will o' the Whisp that contains the soul of his eldest brother. Decimus is a hedonist, through and through. While he has a strong sense of responsibility, he excessively gorges on food, wine, company, and warping poultices or mixes. He has an eye for detail, and almost nothing escapes his notice. He longs for intelligent and meaningful companionship, but he finds it difficult to see anyone who hasn't lived as long as him as an equal or worth spending his time with. However, more often than not, his loneliness wins out and he surrounds himself with those he can find. While an amiable fellow, he can be prone to dark and gloomy moods when things get tense or rough.
- History
Decimus Aneas Faustus was born into an order of Esotericists the Kings of the Lion Star. The organization had a dual purpose; to protect the world from occult, eldrich, magical, or un-natural threats, and to gather, organize, and protect esoteric knowledge. His father, Primus Gaius Faustus, was a prominent leader of the organization. Decimus was the youngest of ten children. When they were born, the Elder looks to the stars to tell what path the child would take. The are Primo the Victorious, Secundus the Wise, Tertius the Swift, Quarta the Brave, Quintus the Alchemist, Sexta and Septimus the Twins, Octavius the Spellweaver, Nona the Wildheart, and Decimus. When Decimus was born, the Elder could not see his fate, and said that the child would not become anything, since he had no future. Because of this, Decimus was always disregarded by his father. His childhood was not without hope, though. His elder siblings felt comradery with their youngest brother, and took it upon themselves to become his teachers and parents.
Under their tutelage, Decimus became one of the greatest operatives within the order. He claimed over 1000 pieces of esoteric knowledge for the order, developed several new martial styles for dealing with trolls, and conceived of three alternative methods of executing spells. Even through all of this, his father still did not give him any recognition. The disappointment and shame pushed Decimus to dig deeper and deeper into knowledge that no mortal should ever know of. Using this, he summoned a demon name Zofael. He made a deal with this demon for specific knowledge in exchange for teaching Primus a lesson. While his father was addressing the operatives, Decimus stepped out of the crowd and challenged him. Before his father could react, the ground began to quake. A gaping pit opened in the floor and hoards of demons and hellspawn began to poor out. They dragged Primus into the pit and began to assault the operatives. Decimus was so distraught that all he could manage to do was run. His eldest brother found him hiding in the armory, and brought him to his other siblings who rallied him to fight with them. They all fought valiantly, but ultimatly, they failed. One by one they fell, until only Decimus remained. The demon Zofael appeared before him and thanked him for the opportunity to further his own agenda. He left Decimus with the knowledge that his father will be kept alive to be taught the lesson he wanted and disappeared. Beside him, his eldest brother lay dying. With his last breath, he bade Decimus do whatever was necessary to free their father and repair what had been done. As he held his dead brother's body in his arms, he panicked and wove together a spell that he hoped would revive his brother, but it was only able to return his soul and contain it within a whisp.
Thus begins his journey. He began searching for the demon and gaining new skills along the way. Through this use of alchemy, magic, and artifacts, Decimus has essentially been made immortal. Because of this he indulges in a hedonistic lifestyle in an attempt to find meaning. After obtaining the artifact, the Ring of Solomon (which allows him to imprison demons with in the ring and summon them to do his bidding or imbue him with abilities), the multitude of demons within the ring began influence his mood and personality, turning him from a stalwart warrior of purpose to a brooding vigilante. He spent much time wandering the world and training for his eventual goal of killing Zofael. He spent time meditating with the monks of Tibet, and sparred with ronin in Japan. Though who he was has deviated greatly since the beginning of his journey, he still follows the two main purposes of the order.
