Concept:


Glory Of A New Dawn is a relatively new Green Sun Prince. He took the deal with the Yozis in order to help fix Creation. At the moment, he isn't sure if the Yozis will do a better job or not, but he does know that they've given him the power to help solve Creation's problems. He is forceful but wants to do what he thinks is best for Creation. He won't hesitate to subjugate people if he thinks it will help the greater good, but he also will go out of his way to help those suffering.
 
Glory of a New Dawn, Exaltation Fiction


A broken king-to-be crests the hill, a blood-red sun rising behind him. Upon his brow is a wreath of Emerald flame. His banner in one hand, and a spear shaft held aloft in the other. He raises his arms, his voice, his fury. "Yesterday I failed you! Creation failed you! NO LONGER!"


He slams the banner into the ground as he surveys the devastation of his village before him, he lifts his spear higher as his anima flares, a vibrant green flame wreathing a bronze spear piercing the heavens, a beacon to the gods and Exalted who had not come to their aid. "I shall make the world right! I shall reforge it with the power of the Creators themselves! I shall make them tremble with fear and reverence, and then I shall lead all to glory!" His voice roared with the echoes of Creation's forgotten King, he turns his back on his first failure: determined that it would be his last.


----- Five Days Earlier ----


Glory Of A New Dawn was born the day his village was destroyed. He was with the rest of the militia fighting against the raiders attacking his home. His prayers to the gods went unheard; he was knocked unconscious by a blow early on.


The houses were aflame by the time he came to while an uncaring sun dropped below the horizon, and a large emerald hawk stooped before the carnage, head tilted at an odd angle as it surveyed the devastation on brass talons. "The world is so imperfect...once, the world was art. A grand design built by the Primordials. Now look at it." The demon, for that is what it must have been, gestures at the ruins of the man's life. "If you had had the power to change this...would you have?" The bird's pitiless eyes burned into his with a red fire.


The man's response was quick. "Yes. I prayed for that power, and did not receive it. My body was too weak, had I been stronger..." He struggles to his feet, staring at what used to be his home.


"I can give you that power, the power to help the rightful Crafters of the world forge it anew. It shall be as a reforged sword, the raw paints to craft a masterpiece, the Yozis only have need of someone strong enough to wield the hammer, the brush."


The man nods slowly, and the hawk beckons to him. "Come then, if you would."


The man holds up one hand, and forces himself to stare at the wreckage, eyes fixing on each body in turn, on each street where he walked, in each home he knew.


Just before dawn, the man turned and embraced the change that the demon offered, the first of many sleepless nights having passed.
 
Manse:

The Brass Tactician's Retreat


This Retreat was originally created for The Brass Tactician, a former 2nd Circle Soul of Ligier. Who slew the demon is now lost to most, save the Yozi and Ligier, none of whom speak of the matter.


The general layout of the manse is of a brass tower, which looks fairly defensible. A portcullis protects the main gate, and murder holes and arrow slits dot the outside of the structure. Inside, many of the corridors are easily defensible by one or two guards, with the ability to fall back to the throne room (also the hearthstone room, forming a Sword and Fist Unity Stone) as a final option.


It is clear that the Tactician was worthy of the name. His manse is decorated with Tapestries of ancient battles, many of them from Malfeas, though some from Creation, and even one from the Underworld. These, along with the scrolls and training manuals, give the manse the Archive ability for War, with a specialty in Demonic Tactics.


For amenities, the Retreat has everything required for a siege, several comfortable bedrooms, a kitchen, storage, and other general rooms. Notable features include a training room which is designed to test tactics against a broad variety of opponents (as well as keep up a general training regimen), and a war room with a large table of brass in the center. Anyone attuned to the manse may control the table. It has the curious feature of being able to reproduce any map within the walls of the manse. Features rise out of the table, or dip below it, troops rise and fall and march in formation to re-enact battles or prepare for future skirmishes. The table can color various sections for ease of labeling. A Verdigris tablet to one side of the table allows for quick searching of accounts of battles, maps, and war manuals within the manse, it updates at any point material is added or removed from the manse.


Two last features of the manse seem to have been built with the aptly named 'Retreat' in mind. The first is the Well-Flavored Aspect of the manse. The manse itself assists the hearthstone bearer in repelling his enemies, researching tactics, and giving a heroic last stand. The second feature is a self-destruct command. Obviously a last resort, or a bluffing tactic, it is interesting that this was not used by the Tactician before his own demise...
