Prologue: MAPS

Since the beginning of cartography every map created where an area remains unexplored they have marked those areas with monsters; sometimes they included the phrase, "here be monsters." Of course we all know there are no such things as monsters in this world, but in the old days myth and legend ruled.

In our modern age you will no longer find a monster or that phrase marked out on any maps. However that isn't entirely true. In the middle of the great American continent lies a lake. On maps this lake is surrounded by mountains and has no roads leading to it.

This lake is not named on any map, and on all maps in the middle of the lake is a symbol not found on any legend. It appears to be a great horse headed beast with sharp teeth and a snake like body twirled up in to the form of a question mark.

Although the words "here be monsters" will not be found on any map on this lake, it is known that the area is filled with legends and myths of dark creatures crawling out of the lake. It is why no roads lead to it, and why the lake is called "Dark Water Lake".

It's most distinguishing feature is the large city fitted right on the edge, to which you can only reach by way of train. Dark Water City is a sprawling city that, although is well known by others around it, and has a large population, it cannot be found on maps.

There are only three ways to reach the city: To know of it's existence, to be completely lost, or to be directed by fate itself...
