Superhuman senses
Though he's blind, his sense of sound, touch, taste, and smell are greatly enhanced. He's even used his heightened hearing as a polygraph, hearing the changes in a person's heartbeat. He's also been known to sense atmospheric disturbances, noticing when someone has teleported into the room. He can read faint impressions of ink on paper just by touching it, and he can sense minute changes in temperature, feeling a person's body heat as far as five feet away. He can sense whether a body is alive or deceased, and if deceased for how long.
Radar Sense
A lot like echo-location. It allows for an omnidirectional field of vision and has been known to work through walls and fabric.
Equipment
Matt uses a billy clubs that he disguises as a cane when he is in civilian garb. It contains thirty feet of aircraft control cable, which is connected to a case-hardened steel grappel that propels itself by an internal spring as well as a mechanism that neatly winds and unwinds the cable.

Backstory
Matt Murdock's life has never been what anyone would call easy. He was raised in the borough of Hell's Kitchen, brought up solely by his father "Battlin" Jack Murdock. His father was a boxer and worked for the mob. He put an emphasis on making sure that Matt studied hard and received a good education, so he wouldn't have to be a boxer like him. This was something that Matt really took to heart and studied, hoping to make his father proud. Then one day, Matt saw a truck barreling towards an old man that was crossing the street. Thinking quickly, he jumped in the road to push the man out of the way. Matt saved the old man, but radioactive waste spilled out of the truck, landing directly into his eyes, blinding him. Though he was unable to see, the waste had extraordinary effects on the boy. All of his senses and his intelligence was heightened. He also had a radar sense that he could use to identify objects and people around him, but he really couldn't understand it. It wasn't until an old, blind man named Stick came around that he learned how to use arguably his most powerful skill.
After Jack was murdered for winning a boxing match the mob told him to throw, Stick took Matt under his wing. He taught him how to hone and use his senses to his advantage. He helped Matt perfect his radar sense as well as taught him how to fight. He taught him everything he knew, training him to be a monster that could take down practically any mobster, gang member, or villain he was up against. It was Matt's decision to dress in all black and take on the crime in Hell's Kitchen. He wanted to get revenge for his father's death as well as just clean up crime in Hell's Kitchen. Of course, a masked vigilante beating crime-lords up would catch the press's and the police's attentions. Everyone was wondering who the man behind the mask was. He kept his identity well hidden, which is why it was such a surprise to him to have the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. come to talk to him.
When Nick Fury had first approached Matt to become part of Avengers Academy, he was hesitant. Though Stick had taught him all that he could about a half a year earlier and the academy would be a perfect place to hone his skills more, there was the issue of his secret identity. Many of the people who would be attending the school were well-known superheroes with very public identities, something that Matt wasn't a huge fan of. For the sake of his dream of becoming a lawyer, the public couldn't know that he was Daredevil. Fury assured him that the only person who would know his secret identity would be Fury himself. They worked out a plan together which would involve Matt posing as a student and an intern in the school's law department. He would keep his identity secret, get training to become a lawyer in the timeless archives, continue to build on his fighting skills, and be able leave campus to go to confession and patrol twice a week in Hell's Kitchen. In exchange for all of this, Daredevil would work alongside S.H.I.E.L.D., going on any missions for them when Fury wants it. Matt felt like it was a pretty alright deal, as long as he never has to kill anyone.
