[Dancers in Emerald Twilight] Takeru's First Mission

Under a Blazing Sun

Karal Takeru, Champion of the First Sun, stands in front of an army of mixed demons, all of a martial bent. A handsome and awe-inspiring being stands next to him, four arms folded across his chest, while a massive brass sword hovers behind his back, the Sword of the Yozi's. His emerald kilt and auburn hair stir slightly in the breeze as he stares at the army, then nods, and turns to look at you.

Ligier, the Green Sun, Fetich and Heart of Malfeas, speaks to you "They're yours Takeru, show me your command."

Exposition!

Ligier is the final Soul you have to impress with your abilities, and he has given you a mission.

The Green Sun of your namesake has been crafting new armor for his army, and wants a test run.

And you're just the Green Sun Prince to give him that opportunity.

He has chosen the dominion of a 2nd circle for your group to invade. The demon is one of Malfeas's, but he is not aware of the training going on here, in order to make it more authentic.

Your mission, which you are accepting, is this:

1) Breach the demon's defenses, by whatever means necessary.

2) Diminish the demon's army by at least half.

3) Find the demon, capture him, and bring him to Ligier, alive. Condition beyond that is not important.

4) Give an assessment on the battle itself, and more importantly, the new armor's worth in the field.

As for this new armor, it's rather simple. Each one has within it wrought into it a number of brass conch shells. Those conch shells are sorcerously linked to the one hanging around your neck. When you speak into yours and will it so, your words are carried out to all members of the army, ignoring the need for relays or other messengers.

You have 1000 troops, and the blessings of the Green Sun himself, go forth and claim glory!

----------------------------

Hopefully that was clear, but you do have the chance to address your troops, or Ligier. For some game traits on your army:

Takeru's Force

This is mostly an infantry force, but there are a couple of units of archers and cavalry as well as a unit of siege.

Magnitude: 6 (1000 troops)

Drill: 4 (Crack)

Endurance: 3

Might: 3 (5) (+2 from equipment, magical armament)

Close Combat Rating: 4 (5 with equipment)

Ranged Combat Rating: 4 (5 with equipment)

Close Combat Damage: 4

Ranged Combat Damage: 3 (5 against structures thanks to the siege unit)

Armor: 3

Morale: 4

Special Characters: None

Formation: Relaxed by default

Takeru, in command

Takeru looks over the troops gathered in front of him. My troops. At least they seem to be well trained. To be honest, they wouldn't look out of place back in Lookshy... at least, if not for the various horns, claws, and other, more exotic and/or dangerous-looking bits. Not exactly how I imagined my first command.

Still, the mission itself is straightforward enough. Assault and capture. Takeru mentally reviews the information he's been given and starts to put a plan together.

Int + War for whatever details I have about this demon, his forces, defenses, etc.:

Takeru rolled the following in his 6 dice:

3, 7, 8, 3, 2, 4

Using 7 as the target number, the roll resulted in 2 successes.

Analysis of Enemy Forces

Name: The Erlking, 2nd Circle Soul of Hrotsvitha, the Spawning Forest

Force Makeup: 5000 troops, most are infantry, but there is a unit of siege (10 troops), some ranged support (500 troops), and a cavalry division (100 troops).

Relative training level: You aren't 100% sure, but your guess from the reports is that they aren't as organized as your troops are.

Notable combatants: None that you are aware of, save their leader.

Special considerations: Their base of operations is on the outskirts of Hrotsvitha, it would be foolish to assume that they are not well-versed in small unit fighting and falling back into the treeline.

------------------------------------

Also, give me an Intelligence + Occult Roll, demonic or horticultural emphasis will apply, it involves Hrotsvitha (for help with stunting).

Takeru, plotting

Straightforward, but still plenty challenging. Takeru's forces would be outnumbered five to one. Let's hope their discipline holds once we're out in the field. That, along with the element of surprise, would have to give him enough of an advantage to pull this off. And, of course, the armor. If it worked as promised, Takeru's army would be far more nimble and responsive than the enemy's.

Since they're not expecting an attack, they shouldn't be dug in too heavily. Still, they'll be somewhat fortified, and we'll be dealing with this forest... Takeru recalls his crash-course in Malfean geography and remembers the stories he's heard about Hrotsvitha.

Int + Occult + 1-die stunt

Takeru rolled the following in his 5 dice:

7, 7, 5, 6, 4

Using 7 as the target number, the roll resulted in 2 successes.

Madness in the trees

You recall some demons go into that forest in order to mate or hunt, and thinking upon it further, you recall that the forest itself pushes feelings of lust and bloodlust onto those who enter it, though it's a slow process by being inside it, over the course of hours.

Just some more information. Feel free to devise a cunning battle plan, talk to the troops, etc.
