Olivine, 4th Soul of Adorjan, The Wind Chime Of Silence

The Silence Wind Chime represents Adorjan's urge to reduce all things that pass through her silent. The silence Wind Chime, like all other 3rd Circle demons, can exist simultaneously in multiple levels of Malfeas, and indeed, tends to exist in a great number of places.

She is the soul who makes way for Adorjan, and lets her mistress know when an area is suitable for her august presence.

Olivine generally appears as a glass wind-chime made of the same material as her namesake (though this is perhaps inaccurate, she created the substance after her own being, ages ago). The specifics of the wind-chime differ, as she sometimes appears as large as a human head, and other times the size of a house.

When she deigns to take a humanoid form, she appears as a tall, willowy nude woman in her 20s-30s made of the same substance as her wind-chime form. In place of hair, a wind-chime, inverted, floats on her head. When she moves, she glides down the street as though blown by an unseen wind.

Of course, in all of these forms, she venerates the silent wind. All sound which passes through either form ceases, though her chimes move as though to the newly silenced rhythm.

Summoning: (Obscurity 2/5) Sorcerers typically call upon Olivine to take advantage of her ability to craft beautiful and hardy crystalline structures, as well as to learn the secrets that she keeps within her chimes. When the green portion of the light of a rainbow strikes a moving but silent wind-chime, Olivine may appear in Creation. Sometimes she kisses the chime, other times she admires the rainbow, but she has only until the chime rings or the rainbow fades to complete any tasks she wishes.

Motivation: To capture all sound within her chimes, and create wonders with them. Her intimacies include Adorjan, Olivine (the mineral), silence, wind-chimes, and rainbows.

Virtues: Compassion 1, Conviction 4, Temperance 3, Valor 2

Traits: 22 dice for all rolls involving crafting from glass, crystal, or other transparent/translucent materials. 18 dice for all other rolls (See The Books of Sorcery, Vol. V - The Roll of Glorious Divinity II, p. 46.)

Sample Powers:

What the Wind Hears - Olivine has captured many sounds within her chimes, and can release any of them to share their secrets and knowledge. While bound, she may be commanded to release any of these, but has the right to demand any other noise in exchange from the summoner. The secrets given up can even be used to learn certain new traits, charms, or spells (at the discretion of the Storyteller), as a training effect requiring only the time needed to hear them. When using this ability, keep in mind that Olivine has not been to Creation for any long period of time since the 1st Age, so her knowledge of anything outside of the demon realm will almost certainly be dated.

Panes of Laughter - Olivine knows that the Primordials crafted all things from Essence, long ago, and with but the barest glimmer of this knowledge, she may transform sound to glass or crystal. With the expenditure of a temporary willpower, she crafts a sound into an appropriate item. A battle cry becomes a sword or a piece of armor. Laughter of a family becomes a cheery home. The cries of the damned become a prison. The item or building appears to spin itself out from the chimes as they move and tap into one another, silently.

Arms and armor created in this matter have the same statistics as perfect weapons made of Chiaroscuroan Glass (See the sidebar on pg. 24 of The Compass of Terrestrial Directions, Vol. 4 - The South), which leads some scholars to wonder if the great city is not somehow related to Olivine.

If used to craft architecture, treat this as Amalion's Her Neighbor's House ability (pg. 117 from The Compass of Celestial Directions, Vol. 5 - Malfeas) save that it may only create structures of glass, crystal, or olivine, supernaturally hardened, and manses must be aspected to Adorjan or Air.

Willpower: 9 Essence: 9

Other Notes: Olivine considers other wind-chimes to be misguided cousins, and becomes furious with anyone who would break one in her presence. All of her attacks do aggravated damage to such a being. Conversely, she will not harm someone in a home with a wind-chime at all of its entrances and balconies. Many homes in the North carry on the tradition of keeping wind-chimes at these places, though only the most erudite know why the tradition started.
