Realistic or Modern Cursed Village - CLOSED

GreatSaiyaman31

Arch-Angel
It was another day for Akuma. He tended to the small garden he kept inside of his house that he had started from seeds that he had smuggled when he had crossed over from the demon realm. After that he would eat some breakfast himself before taking a walk around the perimeter of the cursed village to ensure that no mortals had wandered into the area.

Most mortals seemed intelligent enough to avoid the area due to superstitions that had been passed down over the years about the place. Every once in a while however one or two would stumble upon the place or they were dared by supposed friends to enter like a test of bravery. Upon their arrival they would almost be immediately assaulted by the specters and spirits as well as a gate guardian to the village that was a lower level demon himself. The man looked like a zombified rat that could stand up on two legs. When enraged his eyes would glaze over to look like a cloudy white but when calm he had the usual glow-in-the-dark yellow eyes of a demon.

Greeting the rat he continued his stroll when the rat replied that there had been no activity today. Upon his return home he decided he would make some tea. No sooner had he put the water on however when he heard a female scream. Sighing, he turned down the heat to as low as it could go before running out to see what was happening. Upon arrival he saw the gate guardian and some specters chasing after a young female. Stepping in he scoops her up and spirits her away from the village back to the mortal town nearby. Leaving her carefully on the sidewalk he goes to disappear before he is seen.

Airi stared endlessly at the ceiling as she laid on the floor. With evident hesitation, she leaned up to take a look around the small shabby house. The girl sighed softly before standing to her feet to wander out of the house. Before leaving, she’d tell her grandma that she was going to pick herbs. That was only an excuse however. She was going to find something to kill her boredom.
With that, the girl wandered out of the village, carrying a bag and a fairly long pointy stick that resembled a spear. She did however pick herbs as she wandered about, but she also found flowers she adored where she’d slip them into her bag also. Airi knew the surroundings like the back of her hand. When her parents disappeared, she’d sneak out and search for them day and night in anguish. Sadly, they were never found.
Her mind wandered to the supposedly ‘cursed’ village that was nearby. She suddenly turned, in pursuit of that. Airi wasn’t sure about her beliefs in superstition, but her grandma on the other hand believed heavily, scolding the girl everyday to be careful when lurking outside village walls. Airi arrived in front of the village in no time, yet she stayed her distance, peeking at the sight from behind a tree. ‘Demons, ghosts, did those really exist?’, she questioned herself. There was only one way to find out. She snaked her way to the front of the village, ready for all of the stories and warnings she’s heard.

Arriving back to the village after saving the mortal, Akuma did his best to calm down the gate guardian of the village.

"I understand what your job is and why you feel the need to still do it. I think it a noble cause but that doesn't mean that you have to try and kill everything and everyone that wanders too close. Give them some kind of warning at least first. Look scary all you like but warn them to flee before they become part of the curse. I think that for the most part the mortals would rather flee and do as you say than try and confront you."

Looking around outside of the entrance and seeing nothing out of the ordinary he sighs before turning back to the rat man.

"I've completed my patrol for now. I'm heading back to the house. Try to relax a little, alright? That's all I ask."

The girl had stepped away from her hiding spot only to retreat back in the protection of the tree. A frown covered her brow as she was obviously conflicted in decisions. Holding off for a bit, she slipped her herb bag off, peeking from behind the tree again, only to see the demon, Akuma, talk to the rat man. However, she was kn a position where she couldn’t see just who the man was speaking with. She only had a good view of Akuma. Her head slightly tilted as she took interest in the man, wondering what he was doing around the village. Of course, he has had to have heads the suspicions and stories. Airi did nothing, other than watch, waiting to see what he’d do after. Sadly, she wouldn’t be able to decipher what he was speaking about either.

Patting the rat on the shoulder Akuma turned to head back to his house. He sensed an odd presence nearby but it didn't seem powerful enough to be of any concern. Besides if he started another round it might make the guardian suspicious that something was off. Instead of bringing attention to it Akuma simply made his way back to his house where he would sit down with his books and do his best to find ways in the ancient tomes to lift the curse of the village.

The girl watched Akuma wander off, Airi’s brows scrunched up in more curiosity. She wanted to go after him, but that was easier than said. Airi just decided to head back home for now; she didn’t want her grandmother sending a search party out for her. With that, the girl turned and left the vicinity of the ‘cursed’ village, moving back home. After a while, she’d return home, throwing her herb bag to the side almost instantly when she realized her grandmother was finished with dinner. As Airi ate her pieces of chicken she liked so much, she asked her grandma through bites, “Since when did the village become cursed again? What exactly lives inside?”

After spending two hours looking through his tomes Akuma decided to take a break. Rubbing the back of his neck he stood and stretched.

"Time to relax a bit," he muttered to himself before shifting from his human form to his demonic one. He still looked fairly human but had a furry tail portruding from his hind quarters and fox ears coming out of his head. His hair changed from its human shade to silvery white.

Shaking his head lightly from side to side to shift his hair he sighed a sigh of relief.

"That's better. Let's see if I have anything to eat left in the fridge."
