Story
SMNGMoon.png

It is many years into the future, the 30th century. Crystal Tokyo flourished under the reign of Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion. Life was good, fun, and free of youma.
A true utopia.
Both inner and outer senshi took up their respective titles as Queens of their planets, while remaining in Crystal Tokyo as Neo Queen Serenity's advisors and guardians. Only Setsuna Meioh, Sailor Pluto, took up her station at the Door of Space-Time again and remained in solitude.
Over time daughters were born to the inner, and outer senshi, and were raised all alongside each other together with the second child to Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion.
All the while Small Lady Serenity, with her court Sailor Ceres, Sailor Vesta, Sailor Juno, and Sailor Pallas, were being groomed to soon take up their next title as they came of age.

These were the good years.

It felt like yesterday when they were all together in the palace. It was as any other day, till a loud crash was heard. The Queens and their consorts together with Small Lady Serenity and her court rushed out, promising they would be back soon.

But soon never came.

The threat that raged against the Earth and it's beautiful capital city was too great for them to deal with.
They were not strong enough.
Sailor Juno, Ceres, Vesta, and Pallas were robbed of their Sailor Crystals before the Small Lady’s very eyes. As the darkness closed in on them, the remaining senshi all gave up their powers to prevent the darkness from taking those too. This sealed away the castle, leaving the princesses in ageless slumber inside the Crystal Palace.

Fifty years have passed since that fateful day. The world has been taken over by a new imperium, and the people slowly forgot about their perfect world and beautiful ruler. The only reminder being the large crystal structure in the center of the city.
Inside the Princesses are about to be awoken. To save, protect, and bring peace once more. It will become their destiny to become the new Sailor Senshi, to regain control over the city, and avenge their parents.
Luckily for them they will not be fighting this battle alone. On Earth seven boys have been born with powers. They will hold the key to defeating the threat that ravaged through their home planet, because without them, their fight will be futile.

Crystal Palace
SMNGMoon.png

The world had once been so beautiful. So perfect. But that was the past. That was 50 years ago.
Neo Queen Serenity, the world’s beautiful and graceful ruler was gone, as was her entire court. The Queen's eldest daughter and her four guardians had perished as well.
Many assumed that the youngest daughter of the Queen and the children of her court were dead too. 8 children in total.
However, they were mistaken.
Inside the Crystal Palace, in the center of the city, the heirs lie up in the highest chamber. Frozen in time as they were on the day they were trapped in crystal. Ever unaging, ever unchanging. Suspended in a dreamless slumber.

The halls of the majestic palace had long since not heard a single sound. A perfect serene silence that now was broken by the creaking of an opening door.
Down one of the halls stood a grand door. The Space-Time door that was guarded by the last Sailor Senshi alive. Sailor Pluto.
The gorgeous green haired woman stepped into the quiet palace, her heeled boots clicking softly on the crystalline floor. She had waited for this day to come, and there was no time to waste.

Sailor Pluto, who had also been graced with the title of Queen Pluto, head straight to the highest chamber in the building.
Up there in Serenity’s Palace, as it was called, stood seven stone structures in a circle, with an eighth stone in the middle. On top of each of them crystals protruded, with one of the princesses inside each of the crystal centers.
The last remaining Queen took the Garnet Orb off of her staff and held it in front of her. At first nothing seemed to be happening as the red stone in its center glowed.
After a few moments the crystal structures started to creak and crack.
Bit by bit the crystals turned into light as they broke away and formed an orb of light by each royal’s side.

The talisman of Queen Pluto stopped glowing, and so did the orbs of light.
Next to the seven in the circle a pen like shape appeared. Beside the girl in the center the light made way for a round brooch.
"Wake up Princesses." The warm soothing voice of Pluto called out. "The world needs you."
Life was breathed back into the still heirs. Stirring them to move again.
Beside the princess in the center another small figure started to wake. A young pink cat, named Selene, with a crescent symbol on her forehead. She was advisor to the youngest Moon princess, as her parents and sister Diana had been before her. Unaware of the urgency to wake up, the feline stretched again before curling up closer to her liege.

The order in which they lay goes clockwise: Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn. The order in which they appeared in the anime/manga. Heads towards the center of the circle, feet outward.

Catacombs
SMNGMoon.png

Why the Catacombs were built was unclear. They never had been used to bury the dead. Most people at that time didn't even know it existed. It puzzled the members of the Resistance. Why would the Queen create anything of this magnitude, only to never use it? Some, the former leader of the Resistance, Ryuu Tsukino, included, speculated that perhaps the Queen somewhere knew that one day they would need this place to defend the city. Perhaps she knew she wouldn’t be able to protect her beloved city one day, and made it for those that could. Answers, however, would never come.

Calm, tranquil moments were rare, and far and few between in the Resistance. Ever since they waged war on the Dark Empire it had been one thing after another.
Right now was no exception. There was a shipment coming in from the North. It carried many essentials for the wellbeing of the Resistance’s members, and components for their next step.

One of the five points was in the hands of the Resistance. It needed to be maintained, rebuilt, and protected. The four remaining points of the star shaped city were now more heavily guarded than ever before. With each day new tension at the borders to the free district.
Taking the first had been a major feat for all of them, and at that rate they would have been able to free the remaining points in another 3 or 4 years. However, the Dark Empire had struck back, heavily securing the remaining points, and poisoning them further.

Poison. It came in many shapes, through entertainment outlets, fogs that crept up and swallowed entire neighborhoods, and propaganda, to name a few. It clouded the minds of people. It even warped kind gentle souls into vicious fighters at times.
Shin Tsukino, the current leader of the Resistance, sighed heavily. Down here the poison could not reach them. Down here no one that was infected could enter. It gave some ease and peace of mind for the weary man.

The many years of fighting and battling it out both mentally and physically had left the 38 year old with more scars and a weathered, older appearance than was befitting of his age.
With a quick pace the leader walked down the corridors of the Catacombs. He never had time to stop. Never had time to take a breather. Right now the shipment was all that was on his mind.

Ryoko

Silence had surrounded the princess of Mars. For how long, she didn't know, it felt like just a moment. As if she had dozed off for just a few minutes.
Now there was the sound of cracking that alerted her ears. At first it was distant, till it finally rang closer and then suddenly stopped. Once the cracking had stopped Ryoko gasped for air. Life returning to her body once more. Her eyes snapped open as she lay on a cold bed. Her black orbs staring straight up to the crystal ceiling.

A familiar voice was calling from somewhere, bidding her to wake up. It didn't fully register. Her mind was preoccupied by questions that she could not answer.
What was she doing on here, lying on her back? How did she get here? What happened? Where was the Princess?

The thought of Princess Machi brought her to her senses and she shot straight up on the stone platform that she had been laying on.

To her left was Akemi, the princess of Mercury, to her right Sora, the princess of Jupiter. Both of them were in a similar state as she was, on stone blocks, in the process of waking. But where was the princess of the Moon? Ryoko turned around to look behind her.
All the others she had been raised with were there in a circle. All of them on those stones that almost looked like coffins. Finally her eyes rested upon the decorative stone with the familiar green and blue hair draped elegantly over it.

"Princess!" Ryoko called out and slid off her stone bed, making haste to the heiress.

Hisako

A familiar voice beckoned. A soft groan was its reply. The small and frail teenager stirred. Each breath taken was deeper than the next. Slowly the sickly princess of Saturn opened her eyes. Had she fainted again? No, that didn't feel right.
Hisako shifted, moving her muscles slowly one by one to wake them gently.

As she did her hand nudged an object by her side. Pushing herself up a little Hisako took hold of the object. A pen of sorts, with the symbol of her planet at the top. It looked similar to how the pens looked of the Queens when they were younger. But how did it come to be by her side?

Rolling further on her left side in order to help herself up, Hisako looked up. Tsuya. A sigh of relief was halted midway.
Passing out, while it didn't happen much anymore, was something that Hisako could accept had happened. But if that were so, then why was Tsuya on a piece of stone that looked like an altar? For that matter, why was she on one too?
Curiously the youngster looked over to her other side.
Before she could see if there was a stone with someone on it on that side as well, her eyes stopped at a tall green haired woman. The uniform she wore was that of a Sailor Senshi, and a smile came to Hisako's face. "Sailor Pluto." She breathed, her voice still weak from having just woken up.

"What's going on?"

Behind her she heard the voices of the other royals waking up. They were all here, weren't they. Everyone that didn't go outside. Clutching the new found pen in her hand she turned around as best as she could, the smile fading from her face.

Sailor Pluto had taken place between the heirs of Mercury and Saturn, at the beginning and end of the circle.

The young one frowned. Whatever was happening, or whatever had happened, it wasn't good. The Queens and Small Lady Serenity had gone outside after a loud crash, telling the eight of them to stay inside. That's what they had done. But then her mind went blank. There was a gap in her memory.
Now Queen Pluto was here. This did not bode well.

Sailor Pluto gave a soft nod to Hisako before walking to the Moon Princess at the center.
Saturn's princess followed her with her eyes, and then turned back to the heir of Uranus, worry painted clearly across her delicate face.

Machi

A voice rang through the fog in Machi's mind, pulling her towards consciousness through the thick fog of sleep. Sleep… when had she… she couldn’t remember falling asleep, but clearly she must have, she could feel the weight of a long rest in her and beyond that she was resting on her back, laid out on… a slab of stone? Confusion clouded her thoughts as she came fully back in to herself, waking fully to find her back laid out against the cold flat of a marble slab, head pillowed on her soft curls and nothing else.

It could not have been a natural sleep, then, not if she didn't remember falling into it. Her brows furrowed at the thought, eyes still closed as she tried to process it, searching out her own senses, pushing sleep (magical sleep, she was sure of it, how else…?) from her limbs and finally letting her eyes open. The ceiling, at least, was familiar so at least she had not been taken from her home. The high arching ceiling of the highest chamber of her Queen Mother's palace was as familiar as most of the rooms roofing was, and that at least was a comfort.

She was just starting to push up into sitting when a familiar voice rang out - Ryoko, calling out to her. She wasn't alone then, and as she pushed herself up to sitting, blinking the sleep from her eyes and looking around she saw that at least one child from every planetary house was with her. More than that, those groomed to be the next senshi- the observation sent a chill through her, had her breath catching in her throat.

"I- I'm here," she answered the princess of Mars, one hand reaching towards her though the movement was dazed, almost vague in purpose "I'm fine. Where…" she trailed off, letting her hand drop instead of finishing it's motion. Her palm fell not onto stone but on a curved metal shape, rounded and slightly smaller than her palm. Frowning, she turned her attention down, lifting the object and finding an ornate broach that she had once dreamed of inheriting. Now, it only served to spread the coldness that had struck her when she noticed the rooms occupants. She swallowed down the feeling, forcing it low into her gut where it simmered with the rest of her worries, looking more slowly around the room. Yes, as she thought when she first looked all the heirs to the planetary senshi's queendoms were gathered around her- more, though, the tall figure of Queen Pluto.

If she was here rather than at the doors of time it couldn't mean anything good. A frown crossed her features, the hand with the brooch curled close around it, bringing it close to her chest, holding it against her heart, her other hand dropping down to stroke through the soft pink fur of her constant companion, trying to soak up some comfort from the gentle rise and fall of her cat's chest. Whatever terrible news Pluto brought with her, at least this much hadn't changed - she would still have the comfort and care of Selene, she would still have her friends and nearly-family within the court. It was a small comfort, but a comfort nonetheless.

"Queen Setsuna," she greeted, finally finding her voice again after having lost it before when she found the brooch. She dipped her head respectfully to the guardian of time, voice tight and a little higher in its register than normal as she worked to keep it steady. "I can't imagine you're here with good news - where is my mother? My sister?" Her fingers curled tighter over the brooch, her other hand sinking further into Selene's fur, drawing a mrrow of question from the cat - clearly just woken up as well, if she wasn't bothering to speak in a human tongue. If the decorative object in her hand was what she thought it was she doubted it meant anything good for her mother or sister.

As Sailor Pluto called to the princesses, Asami slowly began to stir. A soft moan escaped her list. Where was she? What had happened? When had she fallen asleep? Why was she laying on stone? She sat up and delicately wiped her eyes before she heard her best friend scream for their princess. Adrenaline shot through her waking her up instantly, she sat up and quickly looked around. She saw Ryoko moving towards the center of a circle made of the other planetary princesses. Sitting on an altar in the center was Machi. Asami set her hands down to move off of her stone when she found a golden stick the size of a pen laying beside her. Her heart dropped and fear shot through her as she recognized it as her mother's henshin wand. But that couldn't be her focus right now. Her princess needed her, and needed her to be strong. She slid off her slab, her silk skirts making a ghostly rustling sound as she did so. She quickly made her way to her princess's side. Once there she made a graceful curtsy towards Queen Pluto and waited for her to answer Machi's question. She had a feeling that the Queen's answer would also answer her questions about her mother and father.

Tsuya and Tamiko
Tsuya didn't remember a particularly rigorous day, before. Not physically, at least, though a sensation of mild panic still rested in the back of their mind in the haze of waking Tsuya couldn't quite place their finger on the source. There was something… they had been visiting the palace, dropping in with their parents and sister, and Tsuya had slipped off from the main hall to seek out Hisako to check on their younger friend when-

The room- Tamiko had been with her mother's meeting some actress or another, but there there had been some awful crashing, and she could recall being sent to a room, their sibling and Hisako in the same space. "Stay here!" their mothers had warned them, and before Tamiko had even had a moment to agree, they were gone, off to fight some threat they hadn't even seen. She had been so worried, waiting for word back from their mothers, she had turned to ask Tsuya if they had any idea what was going on, and then...

...and then nothing. No matter how hard Tsuya scanned back in their memory there was nothing they could recall beyond the leaving. Had they fallen at some point? Struck their head and fallen into a dead faint and missed the whole of the action? It would explain why they were laying on something that felt hard as stone. Groggy, still, from waking but with the haze starting to clear at the panic-struck memory Tsuya's eyes flew open, only to be faced with a room far different from their own or the one they often shared with Tamiko when they slipped into their sisters room.

Tamiko lay against the slab with her eyes open, feeling the weight of the world come flowing back into her, feeling like a part of her was missing- what was it? It was so close but she couldn't feel it, as though some bit of her soul was just out of reach, she slowly sat up, her head spinning as she opened her mouth to call out for-

"Mom?" their voice was small, near shaking, not so much a cry for their mother as a confused whimper and then, quieter, barely above a whisper, "Mama?" as her eyes settled on the slab a few paces away, another pen, Neptune's-

Something was wrong- their mother's weren't here. Tamiko had always had this odd affection towards their family. They could always vaguely sense them, as though they were connected by something, but something didn't feel right. They could sense one thing, so close, that one connection that mattered more than any other on this earth.

"Tamiko?" Their eyes wide, voice high and cracking with worry until they saw her, a wave of relief crashing over them at the sight, the sudden worry that had been building clearing away like morning fog. Eyes only for their sister, they leaned forward toward the stone slab beside them.

"Tamiko! What-" "-Happened?" Tamiko finished, instinctively moving towards Tsuya, reaching over and grabbing her siblings hands, trying to feel them, as though unsure they were real. She locked eyes with Tsuya, trying to ground herself back in reality. It felt like mere seconds ago, she'd been with her mother, being introduced to some major actress they had invited to meet her. Then there had been...

"That crash! What was it? Why are we.." "here? I don't know- " Tsuya's voice came out strained, cracking over the last word and falling into silence as they grasped Tamiko's hands, her own wrapping tightly around them, knuckles bleaching white with the force of it. "I don't remember, we must have been put to sleep or- or something. I don't remember anything other than being told to stay inside, our moms- I don't know, Miko."

Clinging to that connection, Tsuya slipped off their stone slab, moving to close the distance between them, pressing their forehead to Tamkio's to bring them closer, eyes sliding shut for a moment as they tried to press off the feeling of something utterly wrong swirling around them, surrounding themself with the comfort of their sister's touch instead. "...are you alright? Are you hurt, did anything- You're okay?" "y-Yeah, Tsu. I'm ok." She said, feeling it just a bit as her own eyes closed, grounding herself into reality in the contact with her sibling, almost as it she and Tsuya could slip into one another and become one person who understood what was going on.

She heaved a heavy sigh, an indication that she was alright, or more accurately, that she would be alright soon. She backed away, for just a moment, to visually assess how alright her twin was. It was then that she spotted the dark teal pen. "Mother's pen-! Do you have-" "-Her pen. I don't- I don't want to know." They shook their head, letting out a shaky sigh and finally pulling back, though they refused to drop their clasped hands. "But you're okay. That's what matters. We'll figure the rest out."

Tamiko nodded silently. Tsuya was safe and that was the one thing that mattered most to her. She could lose everything she had ever valued, but as long as she had Tsuya, she would be fine. That was all she could ever ask, was to have Tsuya.

Well, no, actually, that wasn't all Tsuya would ask of life, just the primary need. There was another life which was nearly as important to them as Tamiko's and now that they had their sister safe before them a second bubble of panic started to rise under their skin. Tamiko was safe but what about Hisako-! With that panic they actually twisted away, pulling their gaze off of Tamiko long enough to search the room, finding the small form of their near-adoptive sister and letting out a sigh of relief. She was here as well, then- all of them, it would seem, though they noticed the rest in passing at best, even sliding over Setsuna, eyes seeking out only the two who mattered most.

"Whatever is going on here, if I have you" both of you "then we can make it through it, right?" "You have us. We're ok, and soon we'll figure out what's going on. And- and we'll give Mom and Mother back their pens. They must have left them here right before we woke up. I'm sure they were worried about us." She said this, but part of her knew something was wrong. Their mothers would never leave their pens like this, even if they were with their children in.. well, it looked kind of like the palace? She was't sure.

"We'll be ok." she assured them again, lying through her teeth. "Is Hisako-?" "She's here," they answered, nodding their head towards the princess of Saturn. "I'm gonna go check on her, okay?" From there they turned away, giving one last squeeze before letting go and crossing over to Hisako, reaching out for the small girl and settling a hand on her shoulder, concern clear over Tsuya's face. "Hey, Pip- you just wake up, too? Are you doing okay?"

Emi
Eyes closed Emi was sleeping peacefully in her crystal slumber. With the power of Pluto, Emi took a breath deep and warm as she slowly stirred. Something far off in the distance called to her a invisible string attached to her chest, pulling at her to wake up. Her body felt heavy as her mind stirred awake. Slowly she could feel parts of her body grow light and familiar once more. But slowly was too slow for her! Clenching her fist tightly waves of electricity seemed to shoot through her body and shock ever part of her body, willing herself to awaken faster. Opening her eyes she looked up at the cracking crystal around her. As the crystals vanished something caught her attention as it fell towards her. She caught it mid air and pulled it closer to her to inspect it, "Huh? What the-?" There in her hand she found her mother's henshin wand. Emi's heart sank as she wrapped her fingers tightly over the wand. Mom.... Something wasn't right, she knew that, but she couldn't let fear take hold of her.

Pushing off of the stone slab she sat up and shook her head, her long dirty blonde hair swaying to her sides. Running her hand over the top of her head, her green tinted cowlick popped up above her head like a bug's antenna. Stretching she gave a loud groan and scratched her neck and looking around at her surroundings she realized that they were un familiar to her. This isnt my room. Where am I? And what has happened to my mother? As she turned her head she noticed that the other princesses were around. Akemi was in some weird crystal pod, like she was once in, but Ryoko was out along with Machi in the center of the circle of Senshi. Taking a deep breath she let her anxiety wash away as quickly as it came. A smile grew on her face as she hopped off the stone table and raised a hand up. "Yo! I'm up! What is going on? Why are we in this place? Besides-" She paused as she saw Queen Setsuna standing there. Why is she here? This can't be good. With my mom's wand and th Queen here this isn't going to be a happy reunion.

Brushing her clothes she cleared her throat and gave a respectful bow. "Queen Setsuna it's a great honor to see you." Straightening up she moved over to Machi and slid her hands behind her back. Not sure if she should ask what's going on or not Emi decided on not. Both Machi and Ryoko looked as confused and worried as she was and Setsuna would know what's going on. Hearing the other's stir she she turned to see Asami waking up and could see the other beds beginning to crack as well. Hearing the twins talk she knew that the resy were found yo wake up soon. Clutching the wand she did her best not ro fidget. Looking back to Queen Setsuna she had to wonder, what is going on and what can I do?

AkemiThe cracks, the horror, the weight of it all seemed rather distant to Akemi. She could recall being shoved inside this room rather roughly, and told the "stay inside," but she'd always been horrible at listening- she'd barely been paying attention to the party that had been occurring in the Crystal Palace before she'd been cloistered in this room, a new song swimming in her head as she scrambled to find something to write the melody down on. When they told her to stay put, she had sworn loudly and violently, forcing her way to the door, trying her best to yank it open, but that was the last thing she could recall.

The shattering of the crystal above her was her wake up call, however, after what seemed like a very long time trapped under a weight. Though, it also felt like only a few minutes. She could feel the weight of years, as though she had been a rock at the bottom of a river, time flowing over here, but she herself remaining unchanged, constantly stuck in a mere moment. The melody to her song was still there as she drifted upwards towards reality, perfectly preserved and playing in her skull as she began to feel the strength return to her body. As though it had been mere seconds, despite the horrid sinking feeling in her mind warning her that she was very, very wrong in that assumption.

She slowly opened her eyes, the world spinning before her, and sat bolt upright, her hand knocking the pen off the pedestal with a clatter. She stood from her position, not bothering to reorient herself to the world around her. She didn't take a moment to assess the health of the other scouts, or even her own- she had spotted her goal, and she had questions she wanted answered. Everyone else could bother themselves looking after Machi, she was going to get answers. She didn't care or even care to notice the spinning in her head or the jerky, obviously ill movements of her body. All she knew what that something was wrong, and she wanted to know why.

She leaned over and snatched the pen off the ground, ignoring the spots in her eyes and plainly told her she needed to stop moving. With slow steps and occasional stumbles, she made her way over to Queen Setsuna, to point at her with the pen. "Where's my mom? Why is her pen here? Why are you here?" She didn't care too much for the rules the senshi followed, but one stuck in her mind right now- Pluto didn't come to Earth unless there was a grave reason.

She paused, her eyes widening. She grabbed her ears, her pockets, even around her collar. "AND WHERE ARE MY EARBUDS?!" Dizzy, disoriented, and frustrated, she had latched on to her greatest anchor to her identity, and it was nowhere to be found.

Kel

Meanwhile north of the palace in the center of the garden district, a party was carrying on. Unaware of the activities in the giant crystal corpse of the palace or the plans of the rebellion. All the cities famous people were gathered in the most southern region of The Great Gardens, laughing and chatting. The tinkling of champagne fountains and china cutlery echoed among the plant life. Music played through Bluetooth speakers. Kel was proud of the music. It was a demo of his first CD. Well at least that was part of the party. The other reason for the party was some movie being released, but Kel didn't care. He had worked hard for this music and to see his friends and colleges enjoying it was amazing.

He stood with his producer in a white silk dress shirt and well tailored loose fit black slacks. The fabric was light enough that the smallest breeze made the outfit ripple and accentuate his hard body, the white of his shirt was a stark contrast and brought attention to his naturally tanned skin. The outfit worked as shown by all the compliments that people had been giving him all afternoon. He was in the middle of refusing a role for a new movie being shot in Crystal Tokyo, He had no desire to be an actor, when all of a sudden he thought he heard a cat's meow. Stray cats were pretty much never found in the North District, and no one had brought a cat to the party. Some of the women had brought purse dogs, yes, but no cats.

The meowing continued seeming to get more urgent the longer it went unheeded. So Kel politely excused himself from the conversation with the film recruiter to seek out the source of the noise. He found it at the edge of the party, a cat with a beautiful coat of blue fur and a golden crescent moon on it's forehead sat at the entrance to the deeper sections of the gardens staring right at Kel. "Hey there little guy." Kel said in a soft voice trying to get the cat to come to him so he can take care of it. He held out his hand and made a few soft clicking noises, a trick that had always worked back home. Instead of coming to him the cat turned and walked deeper into the gardens. Normally Kel would have let the cat leave and be done with it. However, something in his gut said he needed to follow the animal. So as was usual for Kel, he went with his gut. He caught up with the mysterious cat soon after he was a good distance away from the party, except noe the cat had a silver ring with a dime sized sapphire set in its mouth. He crouched down to again call the cat to him in the hopes of getting it back its owner. This time the cat walked up to him and placed the ring in his outstretched hand. "This is one weird cat." Kel thought to himself not noticing the two figures walking up behind him. He did noticed the cat look past him and bolt into a hedge and turned just in time to see that the figures were soldiers, swords drawn, and was able to dodge as the leader tried to stab him. "What the heck is going on?!" Kel screamed backing up, now clutching the ring in his fist. "What's wrong with you!?" His back finally hit the hedge and he was cornered. "All rebels trying to enter the North Point must be executed on sight." The younger of the soldiers said as they began to close in on the young model.

Julian

"I wouldn't call it exactly method acting, otherwise I would be holed up in my hotel room instead of here." The men and women by his side would chuckle at his supposed jest, but those who knew this rising star knew that there was probably more truth to it than the smile he adorned his lips at every waking second of being in the presence of these people. He would comply to their whims, partake in a conversation he could not help but find dullsome and remind him how much he dreaded these events. It was not as if he was the center of attention, despite playing the protagonist of the upcoming theatrical success, in the producer's words, that would be the one to open the doors of films shot in the heart of the Dark Empire's rule. An ambitious gamble, to be sure. It was also the debut of some model's demo CD, apparently. He hadn't had the opportunity to congratulate him on his endeavor, much less to meet him face to face, given how incessant the attention on them was. He was well-aware of how cutthroat the entertainment industry was, so his words would not be just lip-service, but rather genuine in its execution. Plus, while he's not exactly my taste, he does sound promising. He thought to himself, resisting to mess with his ivory white tie once more. Dressed in an impeccable dark blue suit, his blonde hair caught in a ponytail, Julian looked the part but did not felt the part in the slightest.

"Julian, here."

Ahh, he could almost hear a choir of angels singing in his ears at the sound of that voice and the scent that accompanied it. By his side stood now none other than his manager, Seoul, handing him a cocktail that he so desperately needed, as well as whisk him away from the group to beckon to the producer's call. A lie or not, he was quick to take it after a charming smile and an apology. "Thank you." He whispered to the older woman, taking a sip of his drink, reveling in it as he walked away with her arm around his. "You don't need to thank me for doing my job." She gave him a darling smile, being one of the few people who knew how much Julian felt out of pace here. Hell, if anything, she was the only one. "Did you make it up? I thought the producer was trying to convince the guest of honor to be part of the movie." "Oh, he is, but I'm afraid he might need you to close the deal. He knows how good you are at this sort of thing." "'This sort of thing'?" "Sweetening the deal, Julian. Having a fresh, handsome face does not hurt and you might just score a few points with him by helping him on that." "Seoul, did you happen to forget that this guy is not an actor...?" "Stop being such a purist, it is not as if he will have a role that calls for an audition or anything like that..." The conversation was lost on him, as they walked closer and closer to the pair and Julian was met with a sight that drove his momentum to a grinding halt.

Just at the edge, barely enough for one to lo and behold it, there it was. The feline creature that to this day would occupy his thoughts from time to time. Recognizing it was not a difficult feat, not when he stood out so much for those like him. But catching up to him, that was a different story altogether. Apologizing to Seoul and taking off in a brisk pace, Julian would follow after the cat into the gardens, if finding himself lost along the way. It took him a while to get to it, but eventually, there he was, although now in the company of whom appeared to be yet another guest taken by his uncanny presence at the party, it seemed. His pace would slow down as he approached the two, soon to be three, as the creature left and soldiers closed in on the stranger. Sensing danger ahead, he could not help but caress the ring he wore at all times in his left hand, as if unconsciously, before joining them. He spoke up in a confident, strong and clear voice. "Sir, I have to ask you to unhand my companion at once. I believe those part of the event taking place nearby were specifically reassured that no harm would come to them, regardless of the political situation here in Crystal Tokyo." He took the hand of the man who tried to stab Kel, skilfully restraining him. "You wouldn't want to answer to your superior for harming a guest in your city, now would you..? Or even worse, dealing with charges from a court of justice?" His stare was icy, intimidating, as a man bound to his word, only adding up to the authority that his words held. Letting go of him, he took the model away from the two men, pulling him by the arm back towards the event. "If they don't cooperate, run back to the party and let the director know of this. I'll handle them." He whispered to Kel in an urging whisper, looking back by the corner of his eye as he led the retreat. He felt his heart pounding. It was just like last time, it had to be...

Tsuya & Hisako

From her position on the intricately designed stone pedestal Hisako watched how the twins reached for each other. Even though three other princesses had siblings, none ever were as connected and close as those two were. At times it was quite mesmerizing to see how delicately those interactions took place. The subtle movements, the picking up right after the other without so much as a beat between them. Sometimes she longed to have someone like that, someone as perfectly sync as those two were.

No, she couldn't just sit here and watch those two, not now. Not with so many questions bubbling to the surface.
She had seen that they too had their mothers' pens. With that she could bet that the other princesses would have them too. To each the pen of their planet.

A sudden hand on her shoulder gave Hisako a jolt. She had lowered her gaze right when Tsuya turned and came towards her. With surprise the little one looked up till her eyes met with the gray of Tsuya's. A quick flash of a smile came onto Hisako's lips as she replied; "I'm okay."

A frown tugged at the edges of Tsuya's lips at that, the concern already evident on their face deepening slightly. She didn't sound okay, and Tsuya let the hand at Hisako's shoulder drop down and in slightly to rub lightly at her back. "Sure you are," they consented, making a mental note to pull the Hisako aside and really check in on her when they weren't surrounded by people. They hardly wanted to put Hisako through the discomfort of discussing it publicly, after all. Still, they kept up the small circling of their fingers in an attempt to alleviate what stress they could. "No dizziness, heart rate okay? Nothing beyond the usual stuff?" "Tsuya-" Hisako cut in, causing Tsuya to follow up with a quick, "just double checking."

They had managed to see right through her. As they so often did. Why did she even bother to put up a front? Maybe because she didn't want to cause unnecessary worry. "Really, I'm alright. I'm just..." Her eyes glanced towards Pluto's queen. "It's her I'm worried about. What is she doing here?" In an instant she turned her attention back to Tsuya when she realized how that might have sounded. With haste to correct herself present in her speech her words flowed quick. "I don't mean it that way. I just mean she's normally at her post and now we're here and everything..." She slowed down and trailed off.

"Whatever it means I'm sure it can't be that terrible," Tsuya tried to comfort, stepping in a little closer and taking up Hisako's hand in their own, "besides, we have ea-"

"AND WHERE ARE MY EARBUDS?!" cut loud and clear over Tsuya's comment, causing them to cut off and look up, brows knitting together at the interruption.

The loud shout out of Akemi startled the little one, making her almost jolt off her stone table. Her other hand instantly reaching for Tsuya for stability and safety - a hand that was qucikly acccepted by the princet of Uranus, their expression changing from one of consternation to a glare directed at Mercury's princess for startling Hisako. A glare that went unnoticed by the heir of Saturn.

Carefully she slid her legs over the edge of the stone. "Maybe we should go to them?" She asked, speaking about the group that was forming in the middle before returning her focus to Tsuya. With the pen in one hand the princess tried to scoot closer to the edge and get off, one hand still gripping onto Tsuya.

Pushing off the urge to glare straight through Akemi's head, Tsuya turned their attention back to Hisako, nodding. "Sure thing, Pip," they said, releasing Hisako's hand and shoulder to instead slip their arms around the much smaller senshi's waist, lifting her off the slab easily before setting her on her feet and offering their hand again. "Lets go see whats up, then?" they paused, turning to look over their shoulder and extending a hand to Tamiko as well, "You coming, Miko?"

With a smile Hisako nodded. A genuine smile. With Tsuya by her side she felt at least a little better. Safely with both feet on the ground they made their way towards the center.

NPC Setsuna

Slowly more gathered at the stone in the center. Although none could hide their worry, their questions, some held them back, while others bombarded her with demands of what was going on. Soon they'd all know. Soon they would be faced with the harshest reality of them all. Soon they would learn the true weight of the pens in their hands.

Once most had gathered close, some farther away than others, Setsuna spoke up.
"There is no easy way to say this." She began. Her eyes going by each of them, taking a moment to take them in, before they would learn everything.
"The world was thrown into chaos." Ignoring the shift in tension in the room she continued. "As you know there was a loud crash, to which the Queens, their consorts, and Small Lady Serenity with her court left the palace. This crash came from a threat that invaded the earth." Setsuna's eyes rested on the last heir to the Moon kingdom. "They fought valiantly." With a lump forming in her throat she slowed down, pausing. The glistening of the high noon sun through the crystal building was a stark contrast to the dark words she spoke.

"They never stood a chance."

The surge those words sent through the group was tangible.

"That was 50 years ago."

Ryoko

As Asami had walked up closer Ryoko had given her a brief smile. It was always wonderful to see her. They had been talking a little while ago, catching up on things, even though it wasn't all that long ago since they had last seen each other. Perhaps it really was true that the more you saw each other, the more you found to say to each other. Every day life topics, from the big to the small, all could be said.

Even though Ryoko would have loved to talk to her, check if everything was alright, and if she had any ideas what might be going on, the princess of mars decided to keep the questions to herself. Queen Setsuna was here, she would be able to tell them everything.
Of course before that could happen two things occurred that made Ryoko roll her eyes. First was Emi's boisterous not a care in the world comment. Was she really that dense? All of them seemed to realize something was off, and here she was, just happy go lucky.

The second time was when Akemi bounded in demanding answers with not a single sign of respect towards a queen. Only to drop everything and shout out a concern for those blasted headphones. Goodness, couldn't she have looked for them first, and then ask where they are without sounding like she's accusing all present of stealing them? She probably just left them on the buffet table, or over by the music setup or wherever.

Both times Ryoko took a deep breath and breathed out slowly. As obnoxious as it was, she had to keep her thoughts to herself, be the mature one and stay above it all. Maturity and perfection is what she strived for. Going out and saying something about those two's actions no doubt would end up in an explosive discussion. Or at the very least some sharp stabs and general back and forth of unpleasant words. Neither were to her liking, and both would derail her, and all of them, from learning the truth about their current situation.
She had quickly shot a glance at Asami, hoping to find a soul that would agree.

There however was no time for them to fully express themselves to each other. Sailor Pluto came with the explanation as to what had happened after the crash they had all heard.

A crack.
Even though there was no more crystal around them, to Ryoko it sounded like something broke. The perfect, composed, mature armor she held showed a massive tear from top to bottom.
Without warning her knees gave way. One hand still searching for grip on the side of the stone that Machi had been placed on.
Everything she once held dear. Her mother, her father, her life. It died that very instant. She wanted to scream. She wanted to shout. She wanted to punch her way out of this place. She...
She wanted to die. Right there, on that spot.

Asami

Asami caught the glance of happiness and relief that Ryoko had given her when she walked up and returned it. After all Ryoko had been the last person she had seen before the explosion. She was about to say something when the others woke up and Akemi began shouting Demands at Queen Pluto. Asami rolled her eyes at the younger princess's improper demeanor. She had had conversations with Akemi before about behaviors like this and they had all been blown off. She shared a quick glance with Ryoko, knowing her Best friend was having similar thoughts about Mercury. And then Queen Pluto gave them the news. Asami's knees shook. She wanted to feint, her whole family was gone. Even her brothers. She would have had more time to grieve except something she never thought would happen happened. Ryoko's famous unbreakable composure cracked. Her best friend fell to her knees. Without thinking, Asami ran around Machi and knelt beside her friend, holding her in an embrace. She was pretty sure that no matter the situation, if anyone else had done this they would have been punched instead she quietly, gently held her friend until Ryoko would give her the signal that she was ready to move again.

Kel

The soldiers had been stunned by Julian's appearance and quick whisking away of Kel. As the two made their way back to the party Kel looked back to see the cat had reappeared and was following them. "Thanks for the save cuz." he said as they walked arm in arm back to the party. "I'm Kel, by the way. Nice to meet you." he said flashing his trademark smile that helped make him famous as a model. Then Kel's producer came waddling towards the two closely followed by the director for the movie. His producer was waving a cell phone. "Kel! Kel!" he shouted as he got closer. "I got your parents on the phone. They love the songs and they can't wait to see your new movie."

A smile grew on the director's face as he recognized Julian standing next to Kel. "Glad to see you're helping raise the movie cast up a notch, Jules." he said with a smirk as he stared with a predatory hunger at Kel. Kel's smile slipped into a frown. "I told you, I'm not an actor. I want to focus on my singing career right now." he said sternly and coldly.

Julian

It seems they were not hell-bent on causing a disturbance in the event tonight, or just have their superiors involved in this misunderstanding. Good. If anything, Julian would prefer to keep the shooting of the movie to minor clashes of ideas and alike when it come to production issues. He found himself sighing, relief driving the tension his body had caught on to at the prospect of using the bizarre ability he had uncovered a few months back. Somehow...he felt as if his control over it was still too raw, unstable. It was good to know his authoritative, intimidating approach had yet to let him down on the uptake.

He promptly let go of the model whose arm he was holding until now, nodding his head softly as if to apologize politely for dragging him along like that, so caught he was on all this. He found himself indulging in a faint smile of his own, finding Kel's somewhat infectious. It was part of his talent as a guy easy on the eyes for fashion and advertisement, he supposed. "You're welcome. Please take caution not to reach too close to what these men called the Points in the future." He spoke with no hint of superiority in his advice, as it was more of a sensible warning than anything else. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Kel, I am Julian. Congratulations on your debut in the music industry, I can tell you have a promising future in it."

Noticing the mysterious feline's presence close by, the actor could not help but draw this exchange to a close so soon, not when what had led to it was something as uncanny as this. "Kel, about the cat—" Unfortunately, it seemed luck was not on Julian's side this time around, as both the other guardian's producer and the director closed in on their arrival at the party. Summoning his restraint to not click his tongue in frustration, he crossed his arms and bowed his head ever so slightly at the director as he appraised him. It was not the case in the slightest but if the man wished to think of it that way, so be it.

Julian found Kel's response to be commendable on its own, having no qualms stating his desire to pursue his own wishes rather than just give in to fame and popular demand. Perhaps it was what drove the actor to part his lips to speak up to the director. "May I ask what did you have in mind for Kel's role in the movie? I must say I am rather curious as to why we would just give away anything in such a high demand production which took months on end just to get a fitting supporting cast." Of course, Julian was not looking down on Kel's professional background, not in the slightest. But the cinema industry was not as easy to make through as the director was painting it to be. And if his use of a nickname and his friendly disposition towards him so far was any indication, the director would not dare to look down on this prodigy he fought so hard to be part of his creation. If anything, he could at least have Kel take in a small role that would not hinder his singing career during his stay in Crystal Tokyo. Perhaps even contribute to the movie's soundtrack instead, rather than just to look pretty for the camera for once.

  • Tamiko
Tamiko stood off a little to the side as Tsuya and Hisako exchanged words. Those two often seemed to drift off into their little world, and Tamiko was occasionally jealous that she couldn't be a part of it. Another part of her didn't want to be so close to Hisako. She ought to be a regular girl, playing and finding new hobbies and perhaps screaming about her earbuds as Akemi was doing. Instead, she always seemed distant, and a little forlorn. Tamiko pitied her, but she always tried her best not to showcase it- not to let Hisako know she Tamiko's greatest fear personified.

She turned on her heel as Akemi screamed, but wasn't surprised when the girl ignored the instant attention she drew. Always wrapped up in her own little world, that kid. She seemed focused, but Tamiko wondered if now was the best time to panic over a pair of headphones? She could just get new ones if they were really lost.

She turned back to Tsuya as she heard them say "Coming, Miko?" She smiled delicately, following her sibling and Hisako to gather in front of Queen Setsuna, preparing for what Tamiko knew would be grim news.

"50 years..." Tamiko whispered as the Queen finished her speech, one Tamiko knew she had spent many ages carefull practicing so as to not be overcome with emotion. She knew a prepared monologue when she saw one. "So long... and you've been alone? Why were we frozen like this?" She paused. "I have so many questions." But then again, perhaps she didn't have any at all. It was pretty easy to see what had happened, and why it had come to this.

Emi
Emi listened to Setsuna intently she knew nothing good could come from her presence, but this was a lot to take in. The world thrown into chaos? The crash? Yes she remembered it. Everyone was rushed and afraid, her mother was running off somewhere to join with the other Queens. She wanted to go with her mother, help in some way or another, but her mother told Emi to go back and stay with the others. Protect them she said to her, looking down she moved her hands in front of her. Was that the last thing her mother ever told her? She faltered ever so slightly. In here hands was her mother's wand, maybe the last thing she'd ever have from her. Closing her eyes she held it tightly and looked down. Her bangs covering her face as she stood there expressions hidden and let the news sink in.

She saw Ryoko fall to the floor from the news. Standing behind her Emi couldn't see her face, but Asami had gone to the woman's side. This was hard on everyone. Tamiko, unusually calm, spoke clearly wanting to understand why we were frozen. Hearing Akemi slam her fist against something and shout Emi knew that she was stunned by the news as well. As for the others she slowly tuned them out, focusing on her own thoughts and feelings.

Fifty years had passed. In those fifty years her mother and the other queens had lost against whatever or whoever had done this. Fifty years? What about her brothers? Her father? Her friends? Had they forgotten her? Had they died? She couldn't avoid the pain. All she could do was embrace the worst, hope for the best and find strength in herself. The strength her mother had instilled in her, what her family had shown and what her friends depend on. Protect them. I will mother. I swear. Balling her hands into tight fists she clenched the wand so tightly if it were anything else it may have cracked. The pain of loss hurt, but she couldn't wallow in it, not for her family's memory or for all of her friend's sake.

Her chest rose and fell slowly as she took deep breaths, slowly letting it all come down over her. Then she spoke, softly at first, "there's no way." Then she looked up at Queen Setsuna her eyes focused as she spoke up louder. "There's no way that whoever did this is getting away with what they did!" Her eyes burned with determination, she looked over to Machi and took her free hand. Squeezing it gently she gave her a soft smile, hopefully letting her know that it's alright, it's painful but not the end. Taking a deep breath she then turned back to the Queen. "There's a reason we're here and why we're awake. I'm not giving in! There's gotta be something we can do! Please Queen Setsuna, I implore you, tell us! Why did you wake us up?! What can we do to protect what our mothers before us protected?!"

Matthias

“Wake up princess.”

Matt barely heard the man's voice in his sleep, but he definitely felt the punch to his jaw. He was no longer sleeping.

He was now lying in the tipped over chair, back against the floor, guitar case still in his arms. Music poured out of his earbuds, now only in one ear. Still groggy from last night, Matt could only blurt out, “Hell of a way to wake someone up...” There wasn’t a reply, just a kick Matt blocked with the guitar case. He rolled away from another kick and got up.

Three men stood between him and the door. The guy up front was the one gracious enough to wake Matt up, and the guys on the right and left weren’t much to talk about. The three goons and Matthias stood still, each expecting the others to say something. Taking advantage of a break in the fight, Matt lobbed his heavy guitar case above their heads and towards the door. Matt, who began sprinting forward, clocked the left goon as he watched the guitar case. Dodging a grapple from the middle goon, he grabbed his case and quickly went through the door and down the stairs. The goons gave chase.

Outside, the bar music was already starting and the sun was high in the sky. The goons were still hot on his heels. Matt turned down an alley attempting to shake them, but the alley, unfortunately, was a dead end. Matt turned on his heels and tried to talk the goons down.

Hey guys, I don’t know what you’re, uh, after, but I don’t think this is a very smart way to get it.

“We don’t want anything of yours, just want to send a message,” said the shorter left goon. A bruise was now clearly developing over his eye. “We want people to know some punk’s not going to just appear and upstage us at our own show.”

Ah shi… I’m super sorry then. I’ve been drinking and figured a show was a show. Why don’t we just go on our separate ways then. I got your message loud and clear.

“We’re not done transmitting it yet,” said the goon on the right, smiling smugly.

Seeing they weren’t backing down, Matt opened his case, grabbed the guitar, and dropped the case on the ground. Since his rowdy shows had a habit of breaking guitars, he’s been building sturdier and sturdier guitars. He figured this one would work in a pinch as a club, with its full wood body and metal spine.

Last chance,” he said, raising the guitar like a bat. The goons just laughed, but they stopped as the rosewood body crashed into the right goon. The fight left the other goons as their friend hit the floor. This guitar made for both a mean bass and a mean club. The two remaining goons started running for the street, and the disappeared down the road.

Matthias packed up his guitar and booked it in the opposite direction. He wanted to avoid any sort of authorities who might follow a report about a foreign punk beating up a citizen.

He was flying.
Flying over a barren, snowy landscape. He could practically feel the cold wind against his feathered face... Wait feathers? He looked down at himself and found that yes indeed, he was a bird. A Snowy owl from the looks of it. He would have questioned it, but for some reason he didn't think to ask. He just accepted that he was suddenly a bird native to the North Americas and just moved on. Whatever. Nothing strange here.
His powerful wings beat against the raging winds, slicing through them like knives, the plummels of his wings aiding in his almost silent flight. He didn't think anything of the endless snow and ice below him, only that he had to keep flying. To what end? He wasn't sure.
He kept flying.
Suddenly, things took a turn for the worse. Below him, the snow began to swirl and spiral up towards him. Ice and snow clogged his feathers as he tried to fly away. Soon he was plummeting, screeching in a panic as the ground seemed to rush up at him. Then just as suddenly it stopped, but he still felt the sensation of falling. The sleet and slush danced and twisted till it seemed to be making a shape: a... Cat? It was just a profile cat shape, but suddenly the slush cat turned its head to look at him and- opened its mouth and it said, in a rather gruff and disinterested tone, "Wake up, kid. You got a date with destiny."
His eyes opened. Not a scared awake sort of opened, more of a calm, sudden realization kind of open. Reo looked up at the ceiling of his room, blinking against the sunlight that filtered in through his open window, a slight breeze coming through the open window, tickling his nose- wait. Open window?! Oh nonononono! He sat upright very suddenly, looking at the window right beside his bed. Sure enough, his window was wide open, just begging for a burglar to come climbing through! His brain switched into panic mode as he slammed the window shut, then scrambled out of bed to check that all his things were where he left them last night and nothing was missing.
Of course nothing is missing. Reo thought to himself as he slumped to the floor, sighing out in relief after having thoroughly inspected every inch of the room. Why would anything be missing? I live in a pretty secure part of town. Besides, any burglar would have had to climb over me in order to get into my room to take anything! He sighed heavily as he rubbed his eyes. That's another one to add to the list.
Before long, Reo had gotten relatively dressed and was walking downstairs with his eyes adjusting to his glasses. His vision faded in and out for a few seconds before settling to relative clarity. He needed new glasses.
When he turned the corner into the small kitchen, the smell of toast greeted him, a plate with the aforementioned toast sitting on the small kitchen table. Along with a jar of Reo's favorite strawberry jam and a note in his father's handwriting. Reo yawned wide as he picked up a piece of toast, spread some jam over the buttery side and took a bite as he read the note.

Reo,

Well I'm glad to see the monster has finally emerged from his cave! Now hopefully he'll partake of some toast, as usual. Then maybe he'll be a dear and go out and get some groceries? I've left some money in a baggie for him and a shopping list. Maybe, just maybe, he'll even put on some pants? And won't lock himself outside of the apartment in his underwear this time?
All joking aside, I need you to go get groceries. So go put on some decent clothes and hop to it short stuff.

Love, your dad.

"... He knows me too well." Reo remarked rather plainly as he stuffed the remainder of the toast into his gob before going to put on some pants.

So here he was, the local recluse of the Education district, walking home with bags of groceries two hours later. It's a pretty long walk to the Shopping district and back, okay?
His headphones blasted music from fifty years ago, sung by some guy named... Dustin Timberstake or something. He didn't know the name. Knew the song though. As he wandered down the street, he mumbled the lyrics under his breath and bobbed his head up and down. He was perfectly content, but then...
"Hey!" Someone shouted, appearing beside him very suddenly, making him jump and exclaim. It was a rosy cheeked girl about his age, in a very modest, light yellow sweater and burgundy skirt. She had a brown, frizzy braid. "Reo, is that you? Oh my GOSH! I never see you outside of your apartment! How are you?"
He blinked. Then blinked again. Then one more time before he began to try to formulate words, but it only came out as, "Uhhhhh.... Who are you?"
"Oh puh-lease,"
She said, rather boisterously. "Don't act like you don't know me! ... We go to school together?" He stared. "...We have the same home room?"
"Oh! Uhhh, of course, uhhhh... I know you, uhh..." He stared at her face, narrowing his eyes at her. She got a very disbelieving look on face, which morphed into disappointment. "...Saaaamanthera?" He said, pulling a name out of thin air. Her raised eyebrow was the only response he got, before he quickly excused himself and rushed off. The girl was left standing by herself in shock and mild disappointment.

Machi

As Queen Pluto began to speak Machi couldn't help but clutch more tightly at the brooch in her hands, her face paling when the guardian of time's gaze settled on her. A cold knot of worry was already forming in her stomach, it's icy tendrils creeping through her by the time Setsuna paused - she couldn’t help but notice the past tense, and even as she tried to push off the sense of foreboding that came with it (of course it was past tense, if they had won it would be just as much as if they hadn't) the hope was dashed in the same breath. She nearly missed the last part of Setsuna's statement, that fifty years had passed, barely grasping the meaning of all that time passing when she was still struggling to come to terms with what had come before it.

They never stood a chance

Did that mean that- that her mother, her sister, her father- the whole court-!

Dead. At least it sounded like it, she couldn't think that Setsuna would mean anything else with such a final tone. A sob tried to rise in her throat, a sound she only barely caught, lips pressing into a tight line to force it down, swallowing back tears and refusing to let them fall even as they pricked sharp and hot in the corners of her eyes. Her hand flew up from Selene's back to cover her mouth as she forced back the sound, clutching tight over her chin to try and disguise the grief that was trying to bubble up. The hand around the brooch - her mothers, hers now it seemed - was clutched so tightly that the metal edges bit in to her skin painfully, and she tried to focus on the sensation rather than let herself spiral. How long had she yearned for just such a talisman? To be gifted with the same power and responsibility as her mother and sister, to be able to transform and fight alongside them? The bitterness that she would have it now, at such a cost… it burned in her throat like bile, stomach churning at the thought.

Worse, still, she doubted she would be able to transform even with her mother's brooch in her possession. It hadn't worked for her when she had snuck it out from under her mother's nose and tried to call out when she was little, why should it answer her now? She couldn't help but feel that it was mocking her - there in her palm, as she'd always wished for it. If she couldn't use it then she had a morbid reminder of everything she'd lost. If she could… would it mean that she got her wish at the cost of her family's life? She wasn't sure she could bear the guilt of that, if it was true.

Swallowing again over the now successfully subdued sob she tried to force her attention back to the world around her, lowering her hand from her face as Ryoko's drop and Akemi's sudden slamming of her fist jolting her back into the present effectively enough, causing her to jump slightly. She twisted slightly to look first at Ryoko and then quickly away to the rest of the room - if even the princess of Mars, a woman she'd seen as a pillar of strength and poise her whole life, could be felled by such news Machi did not want to think of what it meant for the rest of them. Asami was far closer to Ryoko both in age and as friends, and for the moment Machi would rather not dwell on the miko's fall. It tempted far too much weakness in herself, and she would rather cry in private, when she could have a moment alone to grieve. Focusing on Akemi's questions was far easier, even with the painful ending.

"They must be, what else-" she started, voice still small from the shock, before fading out as Emi started to speak. She tried to push her lips into a similar smile as Emi tried to offer her a comforting one, though the expression fell short of her normal more genuine gestures. Still, she was grateful for the hand, clinging to it like a lifeline and trying to draw from the determination that he friend expressed. Waiting until her friend finished her proclamation, Machi turned her attention back to Setsuna, clearing her throat once to make sure her voice would remain stable. "Whatever did this - took them from us… you said they didn’t stand a chance. Did you wake us up because you think we do? It's- if it's been so long are they weaker now, or…? There has to be a reason that you chose now to wake us." Unless it hadn't been a choice, of course. Perhaps their mother's magic protection was simply no longer able to sustain them in a stasis, their last gift before their defeats faded and gone from all of them, leaving them completely alone in a world fifty years beyond their previous understanding with an unnamed enemy waiting, their mother's blood on its hands.

…somehow she preferred the first option.

Tsuya

Tsuya had never been dumb - at least they didn't think they were, their grades may not have been perfect but they were never abysmal - and yet they couldn’t help but feel utterly stupefied at Setsuna's announcement. Individually the words all made sense, all had meaning and were understood, but collectively… they couldn't parse them. They didn't stand a chance? Against what? What did that mean they didn't - where were they, then?

The whole world felt as if it was moving too fast around Tsuya, almost dizzyingly so, as they tried to find the full meaning of the statement. The intention seemed clear enough, but that couldn't be right. Their parents couldn't be dead. Not really, truly dead with no hope of returning. That wasn't something that just happened, not with - not to them not when mother… when mama… when they had been so strong. Sailor Senshi didn't just die it didn't happen like that! They were too strong, too bright, had been around for what felt like forever, should continue to go on for just as long-!

No, no there was no way they could actually be dead. Gone, maybe, but not dead. Missing, vanished from the earth due to some great and terrible darkness but not dead. Nothing so permanent. They refused to believe it, to even entertain the idea, so strongly set against it that when Akemi pushed out a faltered, "A-Are they dead?" Tsuya couldn't help but respond, sharp and loud with a harsh denial.

"Of course they're not dead!" they nearly shouted out the response, hands clenching, one tightening it's hold around Hisako's, though minimally, the other fisting far tighter over their mother's transformation pen. "They can't be-! Mother- Mama- all of our moms they're too strong to be dead! There's no way something could have taken them all from us they're not- they can't be. They can't. And if you-" their attention swung to Setsuna, tone bordering on accusatory as if it was somehow her fault, "-say that they are you're wrong. I don't care how sure you are, there's no way they're really gone forever. I don't believe it - I won't believe it- they can't be!"

They cut themselves off after that, breathing a little faster than normal, body tensed like a spring. Their skin felt too small and far too large all to once, a maelstrom of emotion surging through their veins, each passing too quickly and too violently to really be caught upon for more than a moment, leaving them feeling entirely too chaotic in their own bones. The world around them had grown far wider, older, and darker than they had ever known it to be in the space of three sentences. Suddenly empty of all the comforts they had once taken for granted, leaving them feeling small and almost infantile in the face of the loss, at stark contrast to the storm raging in their blood that Tsuya felt fill them near to bursting. They needed to move, to run, to do something to let out the mess of emotions they couldn't quite tame, but there was no space here, no openness to lose themselves to, the walls - which a moment ago had been nothing but the outline of a room - pressing in entirely too close for comfort. Even the sound of Tamiko's voice, carefully calm and questioning, couldn't calm the raging of their inner tempest, even as Tsuya tried to cling to the sound of a voice that had always comforted them when they couldn't contain themselves before.

Rynnosuke & Soheil

It was easy to get lost in the code. Not in a literal sense - Soheil prided himself on knowing exactly what he was doing when he worked - but in a more general one. The real world faded away when he was working, time slipping away like water through a sieve until he was completely unaware of its passing. Having been at this for a few hours now Soheil found himself lost in that same way, fingers racing over the keyboard in rapid bursts and then fading into silence as he looked over his work before beginning again.

The resistance's technical facilities probably weren't to die for, but Soheil had made a home among them, enough so that the space was personalized by him and the few others who made up the technical intelligence team of the resistance forces. His particular workstation - a tiny little haven tucked into the back of the room - was cluttered with the remains of what meals he'd remembered to eat (and those that had been foisted upon him by concerned co-workers and the occasional friend - Rynn, primarily, he simply didn't socialize enough to have more than that that in all honesty), empty coffee mugs that he should really get around to cleaning and the current cup, its contents long since gone cold. His hair was thoroughly mussed from having his hands run through it in vexation whenever he came across a particularly difficult block - a motion that was repeated presently in time with a frustrated groan. Soheil pushed himself back, one hand coming up to rub up under his glasses at his eyes, the light of the screen spotting in front of them. As much as he hated to admit it, perhaps he was spending too much time staring at a screen if he was losing his ability to focus.

Meanwhile, in the above ground, Rynnosuke was making his normal morning rounds. Which consisted of wandering the forests and writing in his notebook. It was a pretty and calm day, the birds were chirping and some of the flowers were starting to bloom. Including the Cherry Blossoms, which was a favorite of Rynn's. It was almost as if the city was perfect and they weren't being ruled over an evil overlord. He closed his notebook and put it in his backpack. Shouldering the pack he maneuvered out of the woods. Greeted with the sounds of busy people and cars he groaned in annoyance. He wasn't a fan of too much noise.

His mind went to his best friend, Soheil. Did the brunet eat anything today? He wondered. He decided to bring some food and make sure he ate. If the boy got any skinnier he would turn into a line. He went to a small food stand and ordered two meat buns and he carried the bags out. Making his way to the southwest part of the city. This was when he was on high alert, he didn't know if anyone was watching him or following him for that matter. He went through the door of the Blue Moon Hotel and the door chimed. He dipped his head to the person at the front desk. He never bothered to learn his name, though they seemed friendly enough.

He took the creaky and dusty steps to the basement, he almost sneezed from the dust in the air. Making his way into the catacombs he identified himself to the guards. Now, to find his friend. He moved through the corridors and entered into the quarters of the technical intelligence team. His eyes set on the man at the computer. His desk was littered with dirty coffee cups and a frown placed on his face. Tisking he placed the bag down on the working area and looked at Soheil. "You didn't eat today did you?" he sighed. Rynnosuke pulled a chair up and sat down. He looked at the other expectantly.

Soheil couldn't help but jump at the intrusion, chair making an obnoxiously loud sound as it dragged against the ground, shoulders hunching upward as he turned and- oh. Just Rynn. His rapidly climbing heart rate settles down to a normal pattern as he settles himself, frowning a little as he looks over his desk and the screen, focusing in on the time on the lower left corner of it, trying to count back to his last meal.

"I might have, I do remember to take care of myself sometimes you know]" he started in defense of himself, though his tone was thoroughly unconvincing. After a moment's pause, he conceded with a, "then again, I might also have forgotten. You can't prove that I haven't at least. And really, it depends on what your definition of 'today' is - is it the date, or a twenty-four hour period?" he paused, eyeing the bag Rynn had brought. It smelled promising, and he wasn't sure he wanted to let the offer of free food go just for the sake of defending his ability to perform basic acts of self-care.

"...if the answer to both of those is no will you still give me half of what's in there?"

Rynn chuckled and rolled his eyes "Of course, I bought some for both of us. I might not know if you ate today but I do know you." he said and gave a smile. He pulled out two meat buns, one for each of them. "We're gonna have to eat on the go. Boss man wants us to guard the shipment." he said the last part in a hushed tone.

Soheil couldn't help a groan at that, even as he accepted the bun, hot-potatoing it from one hand to the other for a moment while getting used to the temperature. "Of course he does - that's the one coming in from the Northern District, right?" ages, to walk, and he didn't fancy the idea of tiring his legs out just to guard a truck. "Please tell me we can at least hitch a ride to get there."

Rynnosuke had to think for a moment. Taxis usually drove from this part of town to pretty much all parts of the city. He calculated that they had just enough money for a ride to the North side of the city. "We could take a taxi ride to the checkpoint and then hitch a ride from there?" he inquired from his friend. They could be more inconspicuous that way.

"That works - I'm sure we can stay with the shipment itself from the checkpoint," Soheil agreed, slightly more willing to deal with guard duty now that he didn't have to walk half the length of the city to get there. Pushing away from his desk he stood, pulling his phone from his pocket with the hand not currently focused on his food. "I'll check up on timing while we go so we can be sure to hit it at the right point, yeah?"

Rynn nodded "We can." he agreed and sat up from his chair. It was getting highly uncomfortable. It had to be the fabric and materials. "Yeah, we should find a taxi while we are at it as well." he smiled. He didn't admit it but he was excited for his first totally serious assignment as a Resistance member. He took a bite of the bun and savored in the taste.

Soheil nodded, "we can take one of the ones the hotel keeps up for visitors," he agreed, checking that he had what he needed and starting out of the tech lab. Both boys headed out of the catacombs and back into the Blue Moon Hotel, blending in quickly with the general populous of the place. Rynn hailed a cab and gave the driver directions to a spot half a block from the next checkpoint the supply truck should meet, and the two piled in, making the ride in relative ease, working on their buns as they went. The walk from the taxis' stop was fairly uneventful and the two waited around until the shipment stopped to check in at the checkpoint, joining the crew in the truck to ride out the rest of its journey.

Hisako

The slight tightening of the hand that held hers alerted Hisako, but it was the shouting, the outburst, that really startled the young heiress. "Tsuya." She whispered soft. The anger they felt was overflowing. It was burning so strong that it frightened Hisako to a degree. It wasn't just anger that she saw in Tsuya, there was so much going on below the surface. Her hand, which held the pen, rose and rested on Tsuya's arm. A gesture she figured would go unnoticed through the raging emotions that filled her friend, but a gesture she wanted to do none the less.

In a way she agreed with Tsuya, there just was no way this could have happened. Not with all their mothers at full strength. Not when her mother had the power to end it all. Why hadn't she used that? Wouldn't returning to the Galaxy Cauldron be a better fate for all of them?
At the same time she didn't agree with Tsuya. Getting so angry was not going to solve anything. Regardless of whether they were dead or alive, she didn't want a fight to break out between all of them because of it.

"Queen Pluto, please, what happened?" She didn't want her mother to be gone. Not yet. Not until she was old, really old. After Hisako had a time to grow up and become a strong young woman. After she could show how healthy she would be in the future.

Ryoko

Her hand had finally managed to grasp firm on the plateau by her side. Fingers clinging onto curves in the decorations of the stone.
Her ears were ringing. A rushing sound that drowned everything else out. Her heartbeat thumping so loud she could have sworn the others would have heard it too.
Drowning.
She felt like she was drowning in a sea that no one could see. Her lungs filling not with air, but with water. Suffocating her till there was no life left in her. Her vision fading, blurring to the extent that she saw nothing but vague colors. Her body felt numb, breath stalling in her throat, not a single sensation reaching her. Almost none.

There was one thing she felt. The embrace of the one person she trusted most in any world.
Asami.
It was the one thing that brought her back from the brink she was heading for. Every breath Asami took pulled Ryoko further towards the surface. Feeling each gentle heave reminded Ryoko's body to not let go, to regain control, to never give up, never give in.
She was still a far cry from being okay when Ryoko pushed all energy she had gathered to turn her face towards Asami.
The corners of her lips tried to curl up into a smile. Tried to.

They quivered and failed to properly move in the right direction. She couldn't do it. She couldn't smile. Neither could she cry. There was no room in her right now to express any emotion. Just a sole desire to cling to her best friend. To feel human.
Letting go of the stone casket the princess of Mars turned herself to Asami and embraced her friend wholeheartedly. Eyes closed she remained that way till the last Queen was done talking.

NPC Setsuna

The Queen of Pluto was bombarded with questions. Understandable since they had barely gotten any information. All she had said would have left more questions than answers. She let each of them give their initial reaction to her words. Each of them reacted differently. Falling into different stages of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, even seeming to straight up accept it and wanting to work towards a solution. Once all had at least a moment to express themselves she spoke up.

She turned her gaze to the new Sailor Mercury. "Yes." Was all she stated. Yes to the question she had asked last. The question of whether their parents were dead. Her eyes moved on till they locked onto Tsuya. "I'm sorry." She meant it. For all the pain they were experiencing, for the burden that was placed on them, for not being able to give them a proper way and time to work through this.

"The crash brought the Dark Empire. Sailors Juno, Ceres, Vespa, and Pallas were robbed of their Sailor Crystals almost instantly when the forces of the Dark Emperor arrived. To prevent theirs from being stolen too your mothers gave theirs up, wrapping you in their crystals to protect you." She was being rather matter of fact about it, but it was the only way to tell all of it to them. If they had more time she would have given them more time to be eased into the news of how their parents died. But there was no time.

"They gave their power to you so you could fight in their place, now, 50 years later." She was well aware of how absurd that sounded. If the Sailor Senshi couldn't fight off this evil, how would they be able to do it instead. "I woke you now because there are new powers rising. The Guardians. It took the Earth this long to be able to produce defenders of its own. Guardians with powers similar to your mothers- yours. Together I know you'll be able to defeat this threat."

The sun still shone bright outside, but time was running out.
"I wish I could answer every one of your questions. I wish I could give you all the time in the world to grieve. But there is no time left.[/b]" The red orb in Setsuna's talisman glowed once more. As it did a portal formed. "You must go. There is a group, called the Resistance, led by one of your family members." She looked at Machi. "They can help you further."

The portal would lead them out, straight into the city. There was something brewing today, something that could tip the scales. Whatever it was, it was necesary that they be there.

Ryoko & Hisako

The words that Sailor Pluto had first spoken had left a gaping hole in Hisako. Hitting in like a bomb. But the explanation of what had happened served no positive purpose to her. Nor did it make everything far worse. She felt hurt. In pain. She wanted a hug from her mother. Just as she did so often when Hisako had to go to the hospital. Instead she now huddled closer to Tsuya, still holding on to their arm. Everything felt rushed, pushed, forced. Maybe there indeed was no time left, but she would have appreciated a moment to be able to get her bearings. Maybe later. For now perhaps the group needed to move on. Once again her attention focussed on Tsuya, awaiting what they would do.

After the queen had stopped speaking Ryoko let go of Asami, looking up just in time to see a portal being formed. Rising to her feet Ryoko slowly regained her old composure. Her shoulders back, back straight, chin lifted, eyes forward on Setsuna.
"I'm ready." The daughter of Mars stated as firm as she could. She gave Asami an affirming nod. She was okay now. Okay enough to move forward at least. She had to be. "Machi?" She extended her hand to the moon princess to assist her off the stone. It was her sworn duty as heiress of Mars to protect the decendants of the Moon kingdom. With Machi being the last one left alive, her attention was onto the workaholic princess.

Asami

Asami didn't ask questions, she simply held her friend. Keeping her back to the Queen of Pluto, she let a tear fall for her mother. It had to sink in. She was now Sailor Venus, leader of the Inner Senshi. Now more than ever, she needed to have the silent strength and grace that her mother and Ryoko had in spades. When the queen explained how their families had died it just made the pain hurt worse. Shortly after the explaination was finished Ryoko stood and gave Asami a nod that she was ready to get moving. Asami, however was slower to rise. Her knees were still weak from this news. She knew what she had to do, but the pain was too great. Still she forced herself to breathe. She had to be the pillar of strength for the others, her mother always told her that's what leaders do. After a few moments she finally stood up. "I think it would be wise if Machi didn't go first." her voice soft but clear and gaining strength with each word she spoke, "Let me go first to make sure it is safe." and before anyone could object she took a deep breath and walked through the portal.

On the other side was an alleyway, dirty and dark. Graffiti sprawled across the wall opposite her, The light is eternal. she wondered what that meant. She looked behind her and saw the glowing red portal was still there. Quickly she glanced up and down the alleyway. Nothing not even a breeze moved. It disturbed her greatly. She stuck her head back through to see the others. "It's clear." she said and then stepped back to make way for the others to pass through.

Kel

The director smiled, hungry eyes never leave Kel as he spoke to Julian, "Don't worry Jules. You'll still be the lead. I plan on having this beautiful young man be in the movie to get the audience hot and bothered and coming in by the dozens to watch." That was when Kel's manners failed him and his calm surfer exterior melted away in less than a second. "Sir, I may be a model, but I am neither dumb nor blind. I will not be simply in your movie so that you can corner me on your 'casting couch' and use me as a piece of meat. I told you no and that response still stands." His voice and eyes were ice cold. They only minorly warmed as he turned to Julian, "It was very nice to meet you, cuz. Maybe we can chill at a less inconvenient time." and with that he turned and left the party. The sun was beginning to set and it was a stupid move but Kel was so angry and flustered that he began looking to hail a cab. His plan was to surf his anger away, though he knew it was extremely dangerous at night. Actually he didn't feel like going all the way home and get his board and then go out. Maybe he would just go home, maybe he would just go to the water and swim. He took a deep breath and that's when he remembered that he still had that weird ring that the cat had dropped. Not being able to think of anything else, he slipped it on his finger and was surprised to find that it was a perfect fit. His confusion was short lived as he decided to return to hailing a cab.

  • TamikoTamiko sighed heavily as Setsuna's words set in. They were gone. Thier mothers- their parents, their families, all gone. Almost half a century ago. And now Setsuna would leave them too, wouldn't she? Back to being alone at the edge of the Universe. The 8 of them were essentially on their own.

She didn't know what to say. She didn't know what to do. She reached out with a hand for Tsuya, who was a mere few feet away, just barely out of reach. They were orphans now, in that weird sense of them being technically adults, but also suddenly without parents. It was... disturbing, to say the least. She heard Ryoko and Asami talking nearby, addressing the Princess. Yes, they had their priorities in order, taking care of Machi, their princess, before anyone else. Never mind poor Akemi and Emi, who were screaming and obviously distressed, or little Hisako. In this moment, they had each other, and they had their duties to their princess. But Tamiko, Tsuya, and Hisako? Really only had themselves.

Tamiko took a heavy breath. Tsuya was panicking, Hisako was scared, and it was likely to be a fully disaster soon. She just needed, to stay a little calm.

She took another deep breath, wiping away the first stinging tears. She could mourn later, couldn't she? Right now, they needed to keep moving. "Tsu, Hisako?" She didn't call the younger girl 'Pip.' That nickname had always been reserved for Tsuya. "I know, it really flipping sucks, and honestly I just want to cry. But we gotta get a move on, ok? Gotta go join the Resistance and start a grassroots revolution- I always wanted to be an anarchist." she laughed lightly, trying to coax a smile from either of them. She looked at Hisako specifically. "You good to walk, kiddo?"

Ba-bump. Ba-bump.

Her heartbeat pounded. Sora stood among the other princesses, her eyes wide and her mind racing as she thought about this news. The Queen Setsuna, Pluto, had awoken them after... fifty years? FIFTY? Her mind reeled. A thousand questions zipped through her mind.
What happened to the shop? To my father, my brothers? Where are they? Are they dead too? Did whoever did this kill them? What about everybody's else's father? Asami has some brothers too, right? What about them? Where are we going to stay? What will we do? Whats this about a resistance? Are there still squirrels in this time period? Cat videos? IS THERE EVEN ICE CREAM ANYMORE?!

Ba-bump. Ba-bump.

She suddenly snapped out of her thoughts before they got too far off track. She blinked and through the haze of grief and questions, she noticed something- Machi.
Her best friend, princess of the Moon and closest confidant. While all the princesses looked at Machi and saw strength and resilience, she took one look at her friend and knew exactly what was going on in her head. Grief. Sorrow. Confusion. Shock. Ryoko was standing in front of her with her hand out, while Machi seemed lost in thought. She looked at the scene, then strode forward and placed a hand carefully on Ryoko's shoulder, "Sorry to interrupt, Ryoko, but uhhh, I think we just need to give Machi a little time. Lemme talk to her, yeah?"
She sighed and looked at the others around them, then bent down in front of Machi and looked into her face. She blinked and turned her head side to side, then said, "Heeeey, Chichi... How you feeling?" She reached out and took her best friend's hand. "I can just imagine whats going through your head right now. Take your time."
