Interested in joining this but it seems very straight only and one of the two characters that I want to join with, well, isn't. And I was wondering if that'd be okay? I mean, I could always just enter straight characters since I have enough of them (though Alex would like to protest that it's not gay given that ze's gender fluid and identifies as both a boy and a girl depending on the day), but he's closer to the perfect fit for this style of roleplay...

...well, to make it more blunt... Are gay characters acceptable? Since it seems that this is a heavily straight-oriented roleplay I wanted to make sure they were cool to play as as well, since my character Alex (who is gender fluid, but physically male) prefers men. I'd just rather not throw him into a world where it's not allowed, you know? I'd put someone else out here otherwise, yanno?

I try to keep my characters pretty varied so I have... just about every orientation out there that I feel I can write without turning that character into a harmful stereotype. I want to let Alex out who, physically speaking, is gay given that Alex prefers men but he's kinda a confusing character because she's gender fluid so Alex prefers to be seen as both a boy and a girl depending on his current mood? And sometimes refuses to subscribe to either gender at all if she's feeling more both of them at the same time.

...Alex is a butt because she doesn't like using gender neutral pronouns either (though the one he'll use most is 'ze'), because she'd rather be called a "she" when she feels female and a "he" when he feels more male, yanno? Because "I'm not gender neutral, I'm gender fluid and there's actually a really big difference. One feels like they're not either gender and I know that I'm both."

Details/Notes: Alex is a pretty carefree kid, having been extremely shielded from the bullying that normally colours a non-traditional gendered kids life. Alex can be pretty optimistic - to the level of being naive - and occasionally is rather clueless to people's darker intentions. Having had a pretty sheltered life, Alex tends to assume that everyone means the best even when that's not necessarily true (or, in some cases, even remotely close to the truth). Overly trusting, Alex is always eager to make new friends, and has no shame in saying hi to complete strangers, and has no problem accepting them as friends (and being closer than is wise) from very early on. Alex also prefers men, but would rather not be referred to as gay because that implies that she's only male. A friend once came up with the term "hometero", which is what he now jokingly uses to describe her orientation, given that it's only gay when he's feeling male. Belly Jelly.
