City of Dying Dandelionsnoun-dandelion-1590388.png

Nature
Weather- Though you'll want to prepare for the weather depending on the season, the temperatures tend to stay cozy here at Dandelion. They're less than common, but will Pan warn us if there's an upcoming storm. It rains at least once a week, so wildflowers are well maintained on their own. If you catch the night when it's not cloudy, you'll be treated to a beautiful, clear view of the constellations.
Wildlife
Flora-
Beautiful blooming flowers have overtaken the rooftops of many leftover buildings, while vines dwell on their walls. Just on one street alone, golden dandelions usually sprout from the cracks of pavement in thousands. Berry bushes are sprinkled about and tend to be a good snack for Vultures.
(Common to least common)
*Goats, pigs, turkeys, ducks, rabbits, cows, pheasants, alpacas, llamas, *sheep, ostriches*, horses*
*Goats are technically an invasive species, but because they give us milk and look cute, they're a welcomed one. The mayor has a pet goat.
*Due to not being able shear themselves, it has become a Vulture's duty to shear any wild sheep they come across so that they can survive. Though these are often taken care of by other wildlife...(Later mentioned)
*Ostriches and horses are mounts, though due to us having grappling hooks, there is little need.
Deer, wild horses, goats, mountain lions, crocodiles bears, panthers, ostriches, tigers, rhinos, elephants
Rabbits, monkeys, raccoons, foxes, snakes, peacocks
Very diverse, but the most notable ones are..
Pigeons, cardinals, crows, woodpeckers, vultures, pheasants, ducks*, turkeys, eagles, macaws, toucans.
*Wild ducks are incredibly common near the dam. They seemed to have adapted to the saltwater conditions.
Heavily diverse. Frogs are always audible during the nights and make for good emergency snacks if one strays too far from home due to how abundant they are. Lizards are easy to find, and when you step into bushes you've got to watch out for snakes.
The biggest nearby body of water is the dam, and it's got a heavy diversity of saltwater ocean animals, some of whom, like octopi have taken a great liking to the old buildings and rubble. Every year, for four days, blooms of jellyfish gather around right next to the dam. There are some rivers near the dam that are freshwater and much more risk-free for taking a swim in.
Wide varieties of butterflies populate the day alongside many fuzzy bees while fireflies take over the night. Mosquitos are not as common and bugs are welcomed.
To make sure the ecosystem is balanced, outside of Dandelion there are robotic spiders made of scrap metal. When there is an invasive species, such as goats, these robotic spiders hunt them down in their webs they make from wool sheared from wild sheep and use their prey as fuel. They're even programmed to make more of themselves with whatever scrap they have. If we scare them, they'll try to restrain us and flee.
Geography- Aside from the piles of rubble, land is flat. A perfect canvas for our homes.

Us
Population- We have precisely 2,500 residents and 2,500 comatose residents who are taken care of by doctors. Nobody has died these past 5 years.
Our bodies- Of all these 2,500 residents, all of us have at least one prosthetic except for our eyes. Our bodies may have scars, burns, but with the Eden
Our prosthetic eyes- Our eyes will censor things we aren't supposed to see by making them shadowy and no matter how much light we shine on the thing, it won't show. This includes anything that could lead them to the conclusion that humanity is ending. Scavengers coming across blobs of shadowed out areas in their searches is very common. Nobody has ever seen a dead human body.
What your characters know/believe- The majority of people in Dandelion think that the previous residents of this city simply moved. Others may realize that isn't the case and know something bad happened here, but come to the conclusion that there's other communities in this world like them. The idea is that almost nobody suspects that this is the last of humanity.

Culture
Education/Guidance- There are few options for education here. Usually, you just need to ask someone to mentor you and they'll gladly do so if you have the Eden. If you prefer private education, there is the library, who you'll find the librarian quiet enough for your studies. If you prefer it the fast and easy way, just ask Pan, the robotic doves that constantly soar above looking for those that needs its help. Though they have many bodies, they seem to share the same mind and memories.
Calendar- The concept of months are known, but unused due to the fact we don't know what day it is. There is no real way of keeping track of time except for when the world itself changes. Commonly, instead of years to refer to a past time, we tend to use seasons instead. Examples: "I awoke 3 summers ago." "Last winter, I met my goat!"
Technology- Though our understanding with technology isn't that advanced, Pan will help us through repairing old artifacts we might find, from necessities like medical supplies to entertainment like jukeboxes or old video game consoles. However, when we bring items like televisions or phones, Pan informs us they cannot be used, but does offer us a lesson on how to disassemble them.
Healthcare- There is are a few (NPC) doctors that work at the greenhouse with all the comatose patients, if you need a doctor, the most prominent one is Brandy(Minor NPC), who lives in the repurposed liquor shop. According to her claims, the vodka in there is 'poison' that only she has an immunity to, and her part time job is consuming all this poison so anyone unknowing won't accidentally poison themselves. Everyone is allowed to take the booze, just not her vodka.
Otherwise, Pan will help guide or diagnose you if you have a medical issue. Every week, Pan delivers everyone a box of medications they might need along with the pastry of the week.

Traditions/Festivals-
First Leaf Festival- All residents come together to a designated place to celebrate the year's end and start by bringing all their accomplishments they've made during the warmth. Fireworks, vendors and contests are usually held here.
First Snow Festival- Celebrated with vendors selling warm food and clothes. Warmed cider is very popular. In this festival, the main focus is the art gallery, where everyone is free to show off the creations they've made for fun. Art classes are also a nice highlight.

First Melt Festival- This is the time of the year where dandelions start growing everywhere. This is the time of year where ranchers showcase and spoil their animals and there's plenty of petting zoos for our enjoyment.
Whale Festival- Happens during spring whenever the first of the whales show up. Some believe whales are angels are guardians, so they give gifts to each other in celebration to show the whales how their community gets along. It's the day of nice acts.
First Bloom Festival- The name refers to the groups of jellyfish that come once a year for four days during the summer and it's celebrated on top and below the dam. This festival is known for vendors trying to cash in on selling fish, swimsuits and booze to deal with the summer heat. Residents often take swims in the nearby rivers.
Birthdays- There are no birthdays, but when the season in which the person was born in starts, it's customary to give them a gift during the respective festival.
Language-
English is the primary language, though some may find themselves remembering another or having a thick accent.
Known Groups and Guilds-
(Any of your characters are allowed to be in these! The only exception are the guilds if your characters not already in one, but your character is completely allowed to join one in the story)
~Guilds~
Vultures- Adventurers who roam the forgotten lands.
Magpies- Elusive thieves who keep their identities secret.
Seagulls- Water Ranchers
~Club~
Bowerbirds- Art club
Pigeons- Newspaper club
Ostriches- Horseback and Ostrichback riding club

Cassowaries- Underground wrestling club
Peacocks- Tailoring club
Parrots- Theatre club
Superstitions- Blowing dandelions means you're wishing someone good luck. On the flipside, the gathering of a lot of butterflies are a symbol of bad luck and death due to the fact butterflies like bodies.
Controversial Subjects- That the previous residents of this city didn't move and what the history of this world could be.
Food- There's plenty of fresh produce and meats, but there's also the preserved foods Vultures find on their journeys.
Crime and Police- With the most worries Dandelion has at the moment being theft, there's not much reason to have police. Murder is unheard of and its thought that an action that bad only exists truly in fiction and nobody could be that filled with rage.
Currency- Takes the form of a fruit called Eden. It's got a clear, smooth shell that requires being broken into like a watermelon and on the inside is a glowing, red honey-like liquid that causes the entire fruit to glow at night. It tastes like sangria with seeds that have antidepressant properties. After usage, the shell can be used as fuel and intensifies the aroma of whatever it is tossed in with. It cannot be grown domestically and is grown off of rare, odd locations in the east and north. The fruit always tends to grow surrounded by things our bionic eyes censor.

Dandelion
(Map will eventually come once I figure out how to make one, but for now, here is a summary of all the town landmarks. More may be added.)
Center of City
There's many gardens and greenhouses here.
Main Community Greenhouse- Contains all the comatose patients. The only intact skyscraper in the building and it used to be a hotel. Many residents of Dandelion live inside of a room here.
Doctor's office- Inside of a liquor store. If Pan can't do something, it will refer you to here.
Town Square- A huge park that is slightly overgrown and has a nice lake. Rumors say there's a sea monster in the lake.
Inns, Restaurants and Homes- There's plenty of old wine cellars, cafes, old restaurants and fast food chains here that have been made into residential dwelling or a store. Just don't go to the old Chuck-E-Cheese. It's said to be haunted.

North of the City
Contains many old industrial buildings.
Warehouses/Factories- On the west side on the town, there are an abundance of warehouses with old supplies that also make nice living areas. Some have incredibly deep basements.
Abandoned buses and cars- Another place for residents to dwell.
Farms- Due to this side of the town having the most fields of dirt, maybe people have started their fields here.

West of the City
Filled with old residential buildings.
Library- Located in a old bookstore. There's a nearby laundromat, too.
Church- Said to be haunted. Many people avoid it due to how populated it is with old shadows.
Abandoned houses- While it's heavily populated, there's still plenty more so if anybody woke up from their coma, it'd be up for grabs.

South of the City
Filled with old business buildings. (Most WIP)
Theatre- Where the Parrots go to preform. Some people make a living here by entertaining others, either with comedy, acts, or music. Sometimes has open mics where anybody can have the stage. Bartenders also serve here. The most filled in evenings.
Arc- Where the Vultures dwell. Thanks to Pan's help, the arcade machines actually work. Located inside an abandoned mall, where some Vultures may have decided to live.

East of the City
Filled with commercial buildings. A continuation of the center. Has a lot of parks.
Majority of Ranches- Many of these are located in old commercial buildings, like grocery stores or chain supermarkets. After the floors are removed, the large indoor space is a perfect location for ranchers to put their animals during bad weather. With help of miners removing the parking lots, it's a perfect outdoor space for them as well.

noun-dandelions-480277.png
West
There is a 100 ft. tall dam with saltwater on the other end. There are stairs and grapple hook points for water ranchers to live here with ease, though even with these handicaps, it is an hour away from town. Here the water is clear enough to see all the fish swimming through the long gone remains of a city. Seagulls and ducks populate the top of the dam.

noun-dandelions-480277.png
East
In the east, there is only rubble for miles and mile ahead, with occasional treasures hidden underneath. Miners dig here for material for carpenters and dabblers to use. This location is populated by birds, fireflies and rabbits. Though they are sparse, there are rivers here and there for a quick drink if you have a filter on hand. Turtles and crocodiles populate these areas.

noun-dandelions-480277.png
North
In the north, there are an abundance of intact skyscrapers and regular buildings filled with vines that bear fruit that's also a popular spot for scavenging. Grappling hooks and allergy medicine to those allergic to pollen are essential here. These are the recommendations for any outing:
-Plenty of food
-Grappling hooks
-Backpacks and other bags
-Camping supplies
-Swiss army knife
-Water filter
-Flashlights
-Lighters
-A net gun that melts in an hour to peacefully pacify predators without any possible harm.
And don't forget to inform Pan so it can accompany you in event of emergency.

noun-dandelions-480277.png
South
A broken bridge over a long lake. The other end has buildings that's even more intact than the north, but hasn't yet been explored due to much more areas being censored by our eyes.

noun-dandelions-480277.png
Other

Nobody has explored past these parts yet due to Pan's insistence on avoiding them.
