I am thinking I will leave ~3 days of voting, but if the activity picks up, ~7. This would include today.

What do you think?

<p>

I'll see what happens over the next few days.

Pers'nally I just close voting when I'm able to post. I think if you have a lot of activity it's actually better to wait less time because people tend to get restless and find other things if they have to wait too long.

Hello explorers. Welcome to this thread! If you want to participate in this quest, see the other tabs. I hope you do! ( :) )

Do you think 3 days is alright? Or should I see if anyone votes today and if not, just close it and make a new post?

I'd like to have more gender options, Jaye, but the problem is I am the one doing the writing. My gender isn't non-binary, so I'd have trouble writing for a character like this. If this were a roleplay, it would be fine, since I wouldn't be writing the character. But unfortunately, I can't do that here, since I wouldn't really write one well, and I don't even know anyone with a non-binary gender, so that would make it harder. So, while I would otherwise be fine with this, I can't do it here simply because I couldn't write a non-binary character.

«raises nonbinary hand» And yet, you are happy writing a woman character? See this here is a primary reason why I opted out of genders altogether. I don't understand most 'differences' between genders.

You're missing the point. He doesn't know how to do it. What to refer to the character as, how things are, how people act, what it's like being non-binary, and basically anything else. Presumably because he's had little to no experience with people of non-binary gender, and nor have I. Comparatively, writing the other binary gender is straightforward. I respect that you're non-binary and want that represented, but my first paragraph. With respect, please drop this. It's not going to get anywhere, especially since nobody else is going for the third option.

Oh, daaaaaamn! We just got called disappointing by a stranger on the internet! That's... kind of a burn? Maybe? And nothing of value was lost. But seriously, the GM doesn't take everything into account because he'd rather write more or less what he's comfortable with. You make a point of mentioning how you added your own option. He makes a reasonable point about how he'd have trouble knowing how to properly write a non-binary character. You criticize him for this by mentioning that he's fine writing a female, which is not the same as writing a non-binary, because he might not know how being non-binary works. Which is fair enough, I don't either. He also doesn't have personal experience to draw from, more than likely. You also go out of your way to mention - twice - that you're non-binary. I mention that he's not doing it due to inexperience, and that comparatively, the opposing binary gender is rather easy to write for. He'd probably get it wrong.

I also try my hardest to be polite. I ask you politely to not kick up a big fuss about it, since the argument wasn't going to go anywhere, and nobody else was voting for your option anyway so it was moot. At that point the argument was more or less just trying to make Riuma feel bad about it. You take offense from this, call us disappointing, and leave.

We didn't go out of our way to cater to you, because the GM would rather write something in his comfort zone. And even then, you had the liberty of introducing your own option. Just nobody else went for it. Now that's done and dusted...
