With dirty-blonde hair and vivid green eyes, Daniel stands out a bit, though the scar in his left eyebrow makes him that much easier to recognize. He stands at 6'1" and has light olive skin. (Younger than in the picture above, and with lighter hair that's a bit shorter. Slightly more handsome too, less rough-looking, more of a kind face.)

Long-sleeve shirt, or occasionally a tunic, over simple pants. A weapons belt over his shirt (as is customary). Well-worn travelling boots, a cloak on certain occasions. And, always, a scarf of some kind, or else a high collar closed tightly against his neck.

Personality:
Kind and caring, Daniel is almost fatherly in some ways. He is protective of people, especially children and innocents, since he knows first-hand what the world would do to people if allowed. Despite having met with gods, he is not particularly religious - in fact, he holds a slight disdain toward most gods. Sharp as a blade, Daniel's witty remarks sometimes seem to be said out of true malice... and sometimes they are. Usually, though, he likes to jest a bit when it's possible. He's quick with a smile or a calming word, and will try to calm down situations when he can, though he ironically his own temper can get the better of him at times.

He has a number of bad habits that he doesn't care to lose. Those include drinking (though he can't really get drunk) and fighting to distract himself. His mental state is also not perfect, as his abilities have taken their toll and continue to.
While generally Daniel is as gentle as a lamb, he can also fight very well. At one time, he'd only fight in the most extreme situations, he now finds himself enjoying a fight. His temper has become easy to spark, and once it starts burning, the longing to fight arises. Sometimes he wants to fight so he can have a distraction, sometimes it's because he can't help it, and other times it's simply because he gets dragged into it. Typically he will feel bad after the fight, once he has calmed down.

Skin colour: Fair, although admittedly it is more pale due to spending a lot of time studying and long nights up for his field research. While he is usually dressed very neatly and never takes his clothes off by choice, if one were to see his body there is a wide range of fairly old scars. Too much to be explained by the occasional occupational hazard, one might say he is unusually lucky to not have any on his hands, neck and face. 


Eye colour: Grey blue, with golden spots depending on the season.


Extras: He always seems to wear a small purple gem pendant around his neck, usually kept under his clothes.

Full description:


Delai is very much enthralled with his research, and very little else. This means he is somewhat of a social outcast, and he doesn't really seem to 'get' people although he has no real malicious intent. On decisions regarding morality he seems to be very calculated and result based; 4 people dead is better than 5, unless those 4 have exceedingly more useful traits. In fact he has no quarrels ridding of someone in the way of his perceived good. Although usually he seems to be too deep into performing his research to consider himself with moral squabbling and ideological indoctrination. His inquiry into demons and dark and black magics seems thus to be more about finding out what exactly it is, and he is not very concerned with social taboos or stigmas around it. If anything he has a neutral stance towards demons and their 'evil', trying to observe rather than mingle. If however a situation would come around where arcane magics would not be adequate, he has also no ill feelings toward dabbling in dark magic himself to prevent the worst possible outcomes.


Obviously he is intelligent, but between his obsession with scholarly subjects and very little exposition to social situations other than those necessary to further his goals. Delai can easily appear arrogant and stuck-up, considering him and his research more important. In truth he really only thinks of his research as more important, and he himself is just as subservient to it as anyone else. The arrogance tends to get even more diminished once one realises it's a self-defence mechanism more than anything. Making sure no one gets too close or involved in him he both gets rid of uncomfortable social interaction and gives himself the freedom to go wherever he wants without any relational hindrances. 

CAPABILITIES

Delai is very skilled in arcane magic, but has no real skills other than that. He is not exceptional in any physical way, not strong nor nimble nor durable. He can't wield armour, and isn't proficient with weapons of any sort other than maybe stabbing with a dagger. He tends to go through life prepared and with due diligence however, proving to be enough to stay alive researching demons. He knows how to cast spells without words, and very minimised motions, making him quite a good stealth caster. The arcane magics he specialises in are then mostly to make him able to get in and out of places safely, but don't underestimate his combat casting. Even if illusion and disguising magic is his most perfected school, he is naturally far more talented in destructive and shadowy kinds of magic.


Aside from practical magic he tends to be obviously good with languages and has knowledge of a lot of regions and customs, being well read and well travelled. Even if he's socially inept, he makes up for that quite often with sheer knowledge.
