Title: Former Heiress to House Saud, Vassal of House Damascus

Race: Half human on her father’s side, half elvish from her mother’s side, retains a large amount of magic.

Age: 20, turning 21

Height: 5’6

Personality: Edith is a cunning, analytical woman, always attempting to be one step ahead of her rivals. It’s become a necessity, after living through the ducal feuds that ultimately ended with most of her family being executed and the rest becoming political exiles. She’s attempting to start anew with House Damascus, filling her sketchbooks with ideas, projects, and plans. Ambitious and quick-witted, Edith is well-versed in courtly intrigue, able to navigate her way through the court. Projecting an air of confidence and intelligence, Edith is accomplished when it comes to magic, leading to the Damascus's hiring her as a private tutor for their daughter during her stay. Edith, while described as a snake by various members of the nobility, is a warm, welcoming woman to her friends, dispensing jokes and advice on the fly. She genuinely cares for the well-being of her people, and will go to any lengths to take care of them. Flirtatious and fun to those she trusts, polite and calm to others.

Backstory:
Born to the High Lord and Lady of House Saud, Edith was one of five children. Growing up amongst the scenic backdrop of Ridal, the province their family oversaw, Edith’s childhood was peaceful and happy, filled with laughter, games, and love. However, this all changed when Edith was 12, when her uncle, the former High Lord of the kingdom, passed, throwing the country into political turmoil as noble houses fought to occupy the throne. Edith’s cousin had died a decade prior due to pneumonia, which left no successor to the throne. Edith’s family backed the noble house of Nascut as they sought to establish a new dynasty; however, this proved to be the family’s downfall, as the High Lord was killed in battle, along with most of Edith’s house. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Edith was branded as a political exile, with her fortune and titles all confiscated. Edith quickly escaped the country, escaping across the sea to seek refuge with House Damascus, distant relatives of her mother and who was in debt to her family. She serves as their vassal, as well as a magical tutor to the heir of House Damascus.

A bright but sly woman, Luciana is quick-witted and confident. Her charming manners belie a sharp tongue and an even sharper mind. Few can boast about knowing the real woman beneath the mask of the eloquent, bold and extraverted Lady she appear to be.

Ruthless she has no qualm manipulating and stepping on others to get her way. Quite pushy and cocky with anyone she consider "useful", she also has the reputation to be catty and impatient when she doesn't get what she want.

The rare people in her circle know her as a loyal and protective woman who love to dote on her closed one. And is a fun-loving and adventurous friend with a maternal streak.

h

istory

Her father, Lord Lucius, is a minor demon who made his fortune with sellings monsters parts as well as luxury and exotic goods from the demon realm to the other kingdoms. Now a poweful and wealthy merchants, he entered an arranged marriage with Lady Ophelia Elmonte, an aristocrat on the brink of bankruptcy, to gain a foot into the nobility and extend his business.

As such Luciana, alongside her siblings, were born with the sole purpose to marry, expand the business, and bring prestige to the familly name by mingling with powerful peoples.

Humans being weary of demons and most nobles holding a disdain toward nouveaux riche made the task arduous. Her childhood was one of constant fight and schemes but through sheer force of will and a good dose of court intrigues, she managed to make a place for herself.

Love the character, but a large quantity of magic is not very specific. If she is able to take out a whole army with said magic then it must be toned down for the sake of the rp to run smoothly.

Amarantia Irisse

LancerofRed.jpg

Basic Info
Title: Baroness of Eljundir, 1st daughter of Cael Irisse, Baron of Eljundir
Race: Half demon from her father's side
Age: 19
Height: 172 cm (5' 8")
Affiliations: Lieutenant of the 23rd cavalry division, Knight of the Kingdom of Vesran
Partner to the ball: Her twin brother, Sylpher

Skills: Superhuman strength, sole wielder of Lævetian

Weaknesses: No talent for magic, hot-headed

About Amarantia

Backstory: Amarantia's native land, the kingdom of Vesran, is a small kingdom where demons and humans coexist. The demonic culture predominates the kingdom's traditions, meaning that most noble households only stand where they are after proving their worth through battle. Any shameful defeat or surrender can revoke their status if the king so chooses. Among the Vesranian nobility, house Irisse has maintained itself the longest since they have Lævetian, a spear said to have been forged by the god of war himself.

Amarantia is the fourth and last child born of the union between Cael Irisse and Alma Dothar. As the tradition in her family dictates, the heir to their family's title has to be the one who can wield Lævetian. Her twin brother could not even lift the spear and her eldest brother could barely use it like a normal weapon. At the age of ten, she snuck into her family's armoury and took the weapon in her hands. She did not need more than that to instinctively know how to wield it. While that somewhat upset her father since he was arranging her marriage to a foreign duke, he began to train her as a soldier. Given her demonic heritage, she has above-average strength and her natural ability to wield Lævetian made her progress quite quickly through the ranks of the 23rd cavalry division, led by her uncle on her mother's side, the Viscount of Cheshire. Not long after she achieved this position, her father died of pneumonia, making her the Baroness of Eljundir.

Personality: Since she's been mostly surrounded by men all her life, she is a tomboy who can be quite hot-headed in battle at times. Of course, as the daughter of the nobility, she has been taught the proper etiquette for every occasion and understands that, as much as she hates being in dresses, exchanging pleasantries and dancing, there are times when she cannot avoid it...for a while. Her tendency to quietly escape social gatherings is the reason why her twin brother was forced to accompany her to the ball.

Title: Crown Princess
Race: Human
Age: 22

Rosie prefers pastels to vibrant colors, so she has opted for a more peachy color, but still dawning the colors of her kingdom nonetheless.

Affiliation(s):
The Monks of Healers Grove
The Scholars of Shinsey
Partner to ball:
Rosie is accompanied by her interpreter Miss. Molly James and her brother Prince Lyle James Hawthorn.
Skills:
Painting, Horseback Riding, Languages
Strengths:
Diplomacy, Intuition
Weaknesses:
Deaf, Combat

Personality:
Rosaline, or Rosie has her family and close friends call her, is not one for talking much. Mainly because she is deaf, but also because she very shy and likes to keep to herself. If it weren't for her family, she probably would never leave the castle. She is perfectly content staying at home and painting all day. Although it is hard to get her to open up, she has a very kind soul and is very caring towards the people she is close with. You will never find anymore more loyal and trustworthy then Rosaline. Rosaline finds socializing difficult. (And not just because she has to have a translator) She doesn't like big crowds and prefers solitude, thus making it difficult to her to maintain eye contact with others. It is the one thing she was always scolded for as a child. That and her stubbornness. Once Rosaline sets her mind to something, she will never change it. EVER.

Backstory:
(I apologize for the short story ahead. I got a little carried away.)
Rosaline was born into a noble family in Erosan. Roderick and Margot Adler were influential within the Erosan court and it was no secret how in love they were with each other. An incredible match made by the Quenian Matchmaker during one of the Kingdom's annual festivals. It was not long after they married that they began trying for children, wanting to secure an heir for their estate. The couple had many difficulties getting pregnant, but finally they were able to conceive and nine months later they had twin girls! Rosaline and Rebekah. (Rosie and Beka for short) For those first few years. The little family was happy. The girls were growing, their crops were thriving, and Roderick and Margot were trying again for more children. That's when the sickness set in. When the twins were barely three, they both became gravely ill. For months, the Adlers were not seen in court as they desperately tried to heal their children. After a long battle with fevers, coughing fits, and fainting spells, Rosie finally recovered, however she lost her hearing in the process. Unfortunately for Beka, she did not make it. Roderick and Margot were devastated, not only for the loss of their child but for Rosie's sake as well. She had lost her twin sister, her first friend. This once happy home was now grief stricken and broken. Margot feel deep into depression, unable to eat, drink, or sleep for months. Until she herself became sick and perished a year after their daughter did. Roderick was struck again, at the loss of his beloved wife. He was now left alone with their disabled child whom he did not know how to care for. The grief was all too much for him. Roderick took a now 5 year old Rosie to one of the temples. Tears in his eyes he asked the monks to take care of her and then he disappeared. No one knows where he went or if he is even still alive. All we know is that Rosie was the only one left, and she was now an orphan.

Rosie spent most of her formative years at the Temple. Here it was that she learned how to read and write and how to read lips. However with her hearing loss it proved difficult for her to speak back. Her words came out slurred and difficult to understand from the untrained ear. The monks of the temple sought out many scholars for ideas on how to help Rosaline speak more clearly. The scholars suggested however, that she learn sign language. The monks had not heard of this language, and thus were not able to teach her properly. So, at the age of 10, they sent Rosie with the scholars so that they may teach her this language. It did not take long for Rosie to pick it up, and she was so happy to finally be able to communicate. She spent about 5 years with the scholars before someone came to their school seeking Rosaline out. They claimed to be from the palace, and they were tasked with bringing Rosaline to the Queen and Monarch. Rosie was horrified of meeting the Queen. How would she be able to communicate with these people if they did not know sign language and she could not speak? The carriage ride from the school to the palace was probably the longest and most nerve wracking ride she has ever been on. Once at the palace, Rosaline was taken to a guest room to freshen up and relax from her ride before she was to meet the Queen. While maids come in and out of her room, Rosie's head swam with worry. What did the Queen want from her? She was just a disabled girl that her family didn't want, what could she possibly offer the Queen of Erosan? Finally, the same person who picked her up at the school came to her rooms to escort her to the throne room. Rosaline's hands shook as she gripped the piece of paper and pencil she had found in her rooms. Hoping that this would suffice as a communication device. Once in the throne room, in front of the Queen and Monarch, Rosie's shakes froze. Out of fear or pure adrenaline, to this day Rosaline does not know. But the shaking stopped and she bowed lowly before her sovereign.

When she finally raised her head she was greeted with a melancholy smile from both monarchs. Much to Rosie's surprise, the Queen began signing. "You look so much like your mother, sweet Rosaline." Rosie's heart leapt in her chest. "You-You sign?" Both the monarchs chuckled, or at least they looked to be chuckling. The monarch then began to sign. "How else would we be able to speak with you child?" Rosie looked down at the paper and pencil she had discarded merely seconds ago to sign her confusion to the Queen. When she brought her head up again, the Queen was descending from her throne, towards Rosie. She stiffened, unsure of what was coming next. But the Queen did not seem angry nor was her stance in that of defense. She simply seemed...happy...to see Rosie. Once the Queen was before Rosaline she tucked a strand of hair behind the young girls ear, before signing again. "I do not know what the monks told you of your family, but your mother and I were very close once." Rosie could not believe what the Queen was saying. She had known her mother? How? So many questions flooded her head but she let the Queen continue. "She and I were cousins. My mother and her father were siblings. And that makes you..." She paused for Rosaline to connect the dots. The young girl's eyes went wide as she signed "...I'm your cousin?..." The Queen smiled that melancholy smile again as she nodded. She waved for the Monarch to come over to them, before she began signing once more. "As you know, the Monarch and I cannot conceive on our own, and we have been trying to find ways to produce an heir." Rosaline nodded, this was common knowledge in Erosan. The Queen and Monarch were the first couple of their kind on the throne and there was no precedent set forth as to who their heir would be. Rosie still had many questions, but she let the Queen continue, "The Monarch and I have thought long and hard on how we could produce an heir on our own. But each idea did not seem plausible or right. Until we remembered you, Rosaline." Rosie froze. Surely the Queen wasn't suggesting what Rosaline thought she was suggesting. Again the Queen continued "We remembered you, and your family, and the tragedy that befell them and we thought, perhaps...perhaps this is the route we should take." The Queen and Monarch then began to explain their plan. To adopt Rosaline, and pronounce her their heir. Of course she would have much training and lessons to do if she was going to be Queen one day, but they were certain that after all Rosie had faced in life, she could handle any situation. The information was all too much at once and her sovereigns could see that. So they gave her time. Told her to retire to her rooms and think on the matter before she made a decision.

Rosie spent the next week thinking about what the Queen and Monarch had told and prepositioned to her. That whole week, she had breakfast, lunch and dinner with the sovereigns. During those meals, Rosaline asked questions. About her family, about them, and their relationship. At the end of the week, during dinner. The Queen was telling Rosie a story about herself and Rosie's mother in their youth. At the end of the story she said, "Your mother was a kind and gentle woman, Rosaline. She would be proud of the young lady you have become." Rosie smiled a melancholy smile before looking at the Queen and signing "It's Rosie...my friends and...family call me Rosie." And for the first time in all her life, Rosie truly felt like she belonged. Truly had hope and excitement for what lied ahead.

The next few years were a whirlwind. Lessons on diplomacy, horseback riding, archery , you name it, Rosie did it. Rosie's favorite lesson though, was her art lessons. Being able to pick up some paint and a brush and be able to create beauty from nothing was Rosaline's favorite part of her day. Her painting tutor had a young daughter that was around the same age as Rosie. The two became fast friends and were often seen together outside of the art studio. This young lady was named Gwendolyn. Gwendolyn was the picture of beauty. Long red hair that complimented her freckled fair skin, a smile that could light up a room and not to mention those eyes. Rosie could get lost in those forest green eyes. Everything about Gwendolyn made Rosie's heart sing. She was in love, and such as young love goes, things completely blew up in her face. One day, while in the studio, Rosaline had given Gwendolyn a painting. It was a beautiful portrait of the maid, and it seemed Gwendolyn was ever so grateful. But when Rosie leaned in to steal a kiss from the girl, Gwendolyn recoiled in fear. The whole time, Gwendolyn had only seen Rosaline as a friend. Gwendolyn soon left the castle and found work elsewhere, and Rosie never saw her again. The heartbreak was terrible. Rosie had never felt so stupid, alone, and absolutely devastated. And it was then that Rosie realized that she was very, very different, and couldn't let anyone know her secret. She still has the painting though, and keeps it tucked away in her studio where no one will ever find it.

The invitation to the ball from the Royal House Scardino was extended to all of Rosaline's family, however the Queen and Monarch are currently busy with strife within the kingdom and are unable to attend. Thus they have sent Rosie and her younger brother Lyle in their stead. Rosaline is less than enthused about attending the ball. She finds these events incredibly dull and wishes to having nothing to do with them. However she knows it is her duty and heir that she must attend such events and represent her kingdom well. She is happier to go with her brother; they became close after his adoption and he is one of few that Rosie will willingly converse with. Unlike her interpreter Molly. Rosaline despises having to use an interpreter and thus has made it her mission to absolutely terrorize each one that has been employed by her parents. Molly has lasted two years, much longer than the previous one month, and the one before that, that didn't even last a week. Rosie has yet to drive Molly away, weather that be a testament to Molly's patience or her stupidity we may never know.

Quick Summary of Erosan:
Agriculture thrives in this kingdom, and one of their main exports is lumber. Erosan is the only known kingdom within to have a matriarchy instead of a patriarchy. The current reigning queen is married to a powerful sorcerer who does not confine themselves to one form. They often use their magic to change their appearance, one day presenting male and the next presenting female. Magic runs through all of the citizens of Erosan. The people here use their magic to their advantage and you will find not only thriving farmlands, but some of the most talented healers in all the land. The current eminency of the Erosan Kingdom is the House of Hawthorn. Because the queen and the monarch are unable to produce offspring of their own, they have adopted orphans into their bloodline, two princes and two princesses. (All of which have some sort of connection to nobility in Erosan) The house crest is that of an ocelot, which are revered animals that are seen as sacred amongst the Erosan people. Their house colors are Emerald, Orange, and Bronze.
