Are you sure you mixed up your list of mythological creatures somehow?

Ignoring that vampires don't actually exist and can be defined any way any author desires, this could simply be construed as the need to feed on the blood of sentient creatures regularly, which is a valid weakness since it exposes them to the possibility of discovery by humans every time they do it (even if not directly, then by constant disappearances at night).
