Chapter One: The Mechanist

Mamodo have come to the human world. Many have met their partners already, some are meeting them now, while other unlucky demon children are still searching. Who will battle to the top, in order to earn the crown? Will they go it alone with their partner? Fighting fairly? Or will they use any trick in the book in order to guarantee their spot? Only time will tell.

Victorias' eyes gazed upon the plethora of dolls that would keep her company for today, since Victor left the apartment several minutes ago, and she'd known that Victor returns late in the day. After a few minutes of staring, she went to the black goth-esque doll with cute, purple eyes, and upon close inspection, she carried the dolls with both hands; holding it up, so she could have the doll over her head. Victoria spoke, "Ms. Cauliflowflow, you're the doll, and I'm no doll to Victor. I'm something more, and that just makes me happy!" She giddily smiled at the Doll, while also revealing her teeth, but Victoria coughed for a second due to a random reflex from overexcitement. Saliva escaped her mouth, and her fluids flew straight onto the Doll, which then proceeded to melt in Victoria's hands. Tears didn't fall from Victoria's eyes, despite the misfortune, and she remembered Victor's words, "If you break a doll, I'll get you a new one, so don't worry, my Victoria." From recalling Victor's message, she said to the Doll, "I'm sorry Ms. Cauliflowflow, but you're still beautiful to me." And then, Victoria's stomach growled for a second. In that instant, she immediately forgot about the Doll, which she placed into the nearby trash, while entering into the apartment's kitchen.

Victor always hand crafted Victoria's meals, so she easily found a ready-made meal in the fridge. She discovered an apple pie, which she proceeded to take and then heat up in the microwave. Unfortunately, due to Victoria's acidic fluids, she was unable to enjoy food like normal people, but she founds apples a tad bit more appealing, maybe it was the texture in her opinion. She sung, as she watched the apple pie heat up, “Appa appa appa pie, appa appa appa pie, so sweet, dreamy, with a crunchy taste and a soft filling.” Her singing repeated for a while, until the microwave finished warming the dish. A small ding filled her ears, and she responded cutely, “Ding ding ding. Yum times!” However, she forgot to wait a minute before the dish cooled off, so she felt a surge of heat on her fingers, when she attempted to take the dish out. She groaned, “Ow ow ow! Bad! Bad microwave!” The heat caused her to sweat, and when the drops of water hit on the floor, it damaged the tiles, but only slightly. In fact, anyone who would visit the apartment would notice several burnt, or discolored tiles and walls. Luckily, Victor never allowed visitors prior to taking in Victoria. Victoria feasted into the apple pie, and when she finished, she dozed off for a bit, since her stomach was full.

Meanwhile, Victor busied himself by pacing back and forth between the doors of a pop studio. He cursed in a small mutter, “That darn Chik-a-Mik. Why won’t she let me make a doll based off her appearances? It would improve her ratings immensely. After all, McDolls is popular in Japan, and franchises are located in Japan.” He placed his left hand on his chin, after he stopped pacing around. He thought out loud with only a long hmmm. Yet his thoughts were disrupted by a sudden wind, which caused his hair to cover his eyeholes. When Victor regained his vision, he noticed Chik-a-Mik leaving the doors of the studio with a small girl wearing a pink hoodie. Victor let out a small huh, as he was confused, since he’d known that Chik-a-Mik had no relatives, nor bandmates. As a result, Victor decided to follow the two ladies out of his own curiosity. He heard them for a bit, but the words were a bit muffled due to the range difference between the two gals and Victor. The pop singer talked first, “Nya…pink…eliminate? No…some…attack…quite…ugly,” and the girl in a hoodie replied, “Living…option…available…voice…similar…battle…being followed.” Upon hearing “being followed,” Victor jumped to the nearest alleyway, so he could prevent the two from assuming he was present. His white attire filled with grime, as he landed on some soot, and gutter mud in the alley, since it spilled from an opened dumpster. He’d no idea how the small girl noticed him, but then another thought stemmed into his mind, one of paranoia. “What if she reports me to the police, or…” questioned Victor. A surge of brilliance entered his mind, despite the fear he felt, as his strategist mindset wouldn’t let him go down without a fight.

The two gals turned back in order to gain visibility on the suspect who was following them. They entered the alley, and as they attempted to find the stalker, they only found a closed dumpster. The girl in the hoodie shrugged saying, “Guess Nyanya was wronyag, sorry Chik-a-Mik myna friend.” Chik-a-Mik patted the girl’s hood, while saying, “Don’t worry. You’re new to this world, although, it wouldn’t surprise me if that freak Victor was following me. He seemed pushy during our interview, but, oh well. Live and forget is my motto. Now let’s get some ramen!” Footsteps were heard in the alley, since the two left, which let Victor know the coast was clear for him to exit the dumpster. Now, the man was covered from head to toe in trash, grime, and black gunk; a yucky sight. “A long bath’s in order tonight, but that hooded girl…hmm…” thought Victor, as he tried to wipe off some large pieces of discarded crap from his attire. He walked somewhat disoriented, as the smell and events confused both his mentality and physicality. Therefore, he trudged onward at a slow pace to his apartment, fortunately, the building was only several blocks away.

Felix Warrick

"Just let me finish this rai..." Felix looked back up to his parents glaring faces. They weren't kidding this time, as they pulled the modem from it's socket. Either he went out and applied for a job, or something... Or he was on his own.

"Agh! All I needed was twenty minutes!" Felix slapped his hand against his keyboard in an attempt to show half-arsed anger.

"That's what you said twenty minutes ago." His Father sharply responded, looking down on Felix as the boy sat behind the computer screen.

"Fine! I'm going, I'm going, but if I end up mugged or raped, it's on you." Felix half-jested as he stormed out of the room, pushing his hair back with his hand, not understanding the insensitivity some of his words might hold for others. His parents could only watch on as he left the house, hoping that maybe he would come back with a purpose in life. In truth, they didn't understand him, but they couldn't continue to enable his lifestyle.

"Look, can I just skip the pointless parts, we both know no one reads this stuff." Felix responded to the young manager at the local supermarket, whom was holding out an application form, asking for any form of CV. In Felix's mind this dead end job shouldn't require any paperwork, I mean, where do you see yourself in five years? Who was going to respond to that truthfully? Though judging from some of the old cooters here perhaps it was common.

The next place was a little easier, a cover-staff agency, straight to an interview, though there was a page of information to fill out, just names and addresses and what have you. As the man at the counter pointed toward a room, Felix walked in, only to see a young woman waiting for him, holding out her hand. Felix froze up, did she want him to... Kiss her hand? Uh... No, no, shake it, shake her hand. Felix shaked slightly as he reached out to meet her grasp, his wet hands causing her to slightly recoil, although she attempted to stay professional.

"So do you have any skills with machinery? Vehicles? Computers?" She asked, seeing if she could have the young man cover any specialised roles.

Felix stuttered for a second, sitting down, trying his best to avoid eye contact with the business women whom was staring straight at him, she definitely wasn't sore on the eyes.

"I, uh, am... Computers, yeah." He tried to smile for a second, before stiffening his face once more. Just how long was this interview going to go for!?

The young lady looked at him strangely, dotting down some things onto her notepad. "Okay so do you have experience with programming, statistics?

Once again Felix awkwardly responded. "Ye.. Yeah. I can do that." He awkwardly coughed, before placing his hand behind his head.

Finally the young lady got up, placing a tape into the nearby television, a safety video for him to watch. "It's standard for everyone to watch this, it should only take about half an hour, then we can continue the interview." She stated before finally leaving.

The video was just about the most boring thing Felix had ever watched, it was insulting his intelligence with it's constant reminders to do obvious things, what kind of people worked at these places? He thought to himself, dreading the second part of this 'interview'. It was only five minutes in before he finally gave up, and left, the sensation was eerily similar to everything else he did in life.

The streets were somewhat busy, but he had to make it to his next possible job location, a fast-food 'restaurant'... Great...

As he continued on, he noticed a peculiar sight in the crowd, a small girl showing people a book? Her costume was impressive, but why was she wearing it, especially in Houston at this time of year. Regardless, she was between him and his destination, maybe if he just kept his eyes forward this strange girl wouldn't force the tomb into his face like she seemed to be doing to so many others. Although... It was an interesting design. Felix couldn't keep his eyes from it, as hard as he tried, almost seeming to stare at the book as he walked past.

This 'small girl' was actually a young male Mamodo named Chiyami, here in the human world, obviously to fight, beat, and destroy other Mamodos and their books. To the ultimate goal of becoming the King of the Mamodo world. Down this avenue, Chiyami was extremely selfish, wanting to basically use any means necessary to win and achieve Kingdom. However, he wasn't exactly a malicious sort. Not like some of the.. eviler Mamodo children that had been sent in this batch to the human world. He still could be rather... naughty, both in actions, and in his ways of going about winning. Not to mention his magic was a tad dark. Stealing, employing, and requiring actual blood to use his magic.

Not really like any other Mamodo magic. Most of which required some sort of sissy 'heart power', or some such nonsense. Not that Chiyami was one to make fun of 'sissies'. Basically being once himself or herself

His bright red eyes gleaming, darting from person to person. Chiyami currently was giggling, have a grand ole time, passing his bloodred book around. His words confused the small mob, but most were having a blast, as well. Enjoying the strange small girl and her unusual tome and words. Not to mention the odd sword she carried, and her unusual horns that seemed to nearly be real? Nah, couldn't be. With as much emphasis that humans put on gender, it was a wonder if Chiyami was expressly male, if 'she'd' be receiving nearly as much attention.

Right now, some shmuck was inspecting his book. Looking over left, right, frontways, backways, upside down, rightside up, any way you name it. He couldn't read any of the strange text within, expressing this concern to his friend next to him, saying, "Yo, what's up with this weird freakish book, girl?"

Chiyami merely laughed at his expense, causing him to reproachfully glare at her. The Mamodo's red eyes found someone nearby, drawing nearer to the crowd. Something.. something felt different there... He instantly waved, with a wide toothy (fanged) smile.

"Gah, now you've done it, why couldn't you just keep your eyes forward..." Felix thought to himself as the small girl waved to him, her... Fangs? Pointing out as she smiled. Clearly she had come to some extreme methods in order to make this look, but if it was a cosplay, it was of no character he had ever heard of, and he was the type of guy who enjoyed even the most nameless characters.

He continued to stare toward her in thought, almost blanking out, before quickly changing his expression as if realising he had been blankly staring at a child now for the past few seconds. Awkwardly, he placed his hand up in response, making an open hand in a subtle wave in return. He was now quite close, and attempted to avert his gaze, placing his hand to his side once more. He began to walk again, but... He needed to know... "What's that book?" He asked, before quickly changing his curious face to a more surprised expression. Why had he said that? Now he was going to have to talk to her... Agh...

Nevertheless he kept his gaze slightly away from her own, glancing at the book and back out around her, yet never at her. He didn't even noticed how real her ears and horns looked due to not wanting to seem like he was staring, let alone the fact that 'she' wasn't even a she.

Whoever had his book, was done with. "Rayyh!" he growled out, grabbing the bloodred book, and shoving the other person away. "Done!" he spat at the person who responded with a grunted, "hey!" Turning to the male who came up, who seemed to be... Averting his eyes? Weird, but whatever! Not a big deal!

Chiyami shook his head, swishing long bluish-purple locks and he beamed up to the man. "Mah bo~oook?!" he chimed. With a little devilish giggle, he slapped a hand to his chest. "Hiya! I'm Chiyami, this is my book! Book of spells, yep! You are? -HERE!" He rattled off words quickly, his voice continuing to not give his actual gender away. With an overeager outward thrust, coupled with a bright smile and a laugh, he shoved the book right into this new male's arms. "Seeeeee~.. Booksies! You take? Kewlie or badsies? Hm, I wonder!~"

Victoria heard the door open, which caused her eyes to widen, and a smile to form on her face. She'd known that Victor entered the household, as he was the only one with the necessary keys to enter the apartment. As a result, she rushed to Victor's side, where she immediately jumped in Victor's arms; however, Victor was caught by surprised, and while he managed to catch Victoria, he couldn't prevent the slimy sludge and grime from dirtying Victoria's outfit. Victor commented, "Whoa, Victoria! Let me shower first." Victoria blinked a bit, before saying, "Victor. I wanna play with you now! Please! I've been waiting all day!" Thus, Victor looked deep into Victoria's eyes, while he contemplated his current decisions. Fortunately, he dropped any hint of work, or comprehending his current ordeals in favor of playing with his sweet, little Victoria. "Fine, let's play, but only fifteen minutes, my Victoria," finished Victor.

Victoria led Victor to a round table in the apartment. On the table, there were several dolls, and a game recently developed by McDolls called Dolls: The JRPG, for the PSDolls console. Victor sighed, before putting the game disc inside the console, and together the two played over Victor's time limit. An hour passed, before Victor finally stood up, and told Victoria, "It's shower time. You too! I can't allow you to deal with my smell. Now, let's go." He held out his hand, which Victoria promptly grabbed, and the two headed for their daily cleansing. Victor entered one bathroom, while Victoria entered the other one. The two were in sync, and tomorrow would bring forth new challenges should Victor persist with the singer's mysteries.

Felix Warrick

"Felix.." Felix awkwardly responded to the outgoing child, moving his hand toward 'her', before stopping it halfway. Sure, a handshake was a proper introduction... At least that's what he remembered. Disregarding the job interviews, Felix couldn't remember the last time he actually talked to a stranger outside of a virtual setting. Then again, introducing himself to a child probably wasn't a smart move.

"What's with this kid?" Felix questioned himself. The way she called it her book made it sound like it was more than a possession, he couldn't put his finger on it. Wait... What was that about... "Spells!?" The thought rattled in his head, now this was a term he was accustomed to, though clearly it was just this girl's imagination, she was committed to this act, that was for sure.

Slightly worried, Felix scanned the area with his eyes, before taking the book toward his face. Glancing back at Chiyami's bright, laughing face somewhat relaxed him, a contagious half smile showing itself on his face in response, before he took his attention back toward the tome he had been handed.

This thing. Was. Amazing. Felix didn't expect the book to actually be full of writings, there was commitment, and there was obsession, someone had clearly put a massive amount of work into this. At first he thought it must just be scribbles, but there was a pattern to these symbols, perhaps asian writings? Though he had never seen anything even similar to this.

Quickly Felix turned the book over to look at the cover, the markings were like something out of a fantasy game, he half expected to gain +2 to luck just from glancing through it. A small chuckle followed at his own internal joke, as he returned to scrolling through the pages, before finally... One stood out.

The text was in a different colour. That was the first thing he noticed. But one more thing. He could read this part, unlike any other page in the entire tomb. "Nyx-Rondokrev" He thought as he read the line silently. It was like some sort of gibberish to him, like something a mage would yell out in combat.

Glancing back at Chiyami's excited face, he finally piped up, his curiousness taking over, he simply had to know why... "Why is this the only part in Engli...." Felix stopped for a moment, glancing back at the book. This writing wasn't in English. It followed the same pattern as the rest of the book, and yet, he could read it. His face went blank, mouth agape. He couldn't read any other language, let alone something like this. What was this book?

In a way, the Mamodo war was like some sort of fantasy game. In its own way, anyway. The Mamodo children themselves were like fantastical participants in some wide magical battle, trying to earn a cool prize for getting through this magical tournament. It was exciting, wasn't it!

Chiyami simply stood there, while the man poured over his book. It seemed... far more involved than the others. This person had a certain appreciation for the finer things, yes he did! Instantly, this made the 'girl' perk up. "YEYYY!" 'she' giggled, clapping and bouncing in the same spot, people in the crowd glancing around at each other. This was the first time they had seen 'her' act in this manner. "It seems... it seems you may be the 'one'! Yepsies, Felix-chan!" Yes, 'chan' was primarily for girls, but that was just how this particular Mamodo acted in these situations. Leaping forward, Chiyami clasped to the male, and climbed around onto his back, pointing down at the word he could read.

"First spell!" Chiyami piped up, then gave him an over-the-shoulder smile.

Felix Warrick

"H-Hey!" Felix awkwardly half-shouted in response, sticking his arms out as if to show this interaction was none of his doing. It hardly mattered, people on the street still glanced at him, always the type to fear the worse in social interactions, Felix let out a short sigh of air as the girl began to crawl atop him. "What is she calling me?" He questioned. "The one? Chan? Wasn't that for..." Felix didn't have time to finish his thought, as the child almost demanded he read the book.

In retrospect, a child with fangs and horns that looked far too realistic, along with long ears that revealed no sign of plastic. Perhaps he should have thought long and hard about his next action, sure, the book was strange, but surely it couldn't really cast spells? Regardless. In such a crowded area, even if the odds were low, maybe he should have thought twice. But he would be lying if he said he wasn't excited, if he didn't think there was something more to life, something special about him. He had to see what would happen, and disregarded his surroundings as he did so.

Felix stared at the book, Chiyami smiling at him intently in the corner of his eyes, everything went silent, a cold gust of wind blowing past his cheeks. A strange, red, oozing glow simmered as he placed his right hand toward the strange writings. In a subtle voice, he quoted. "Nyx-Rondokrev."

His body began to feel strange, like something was being drained, a small pain following, though it didn't seem major. That's when he realised he may have just made a grave mistake. He looked closer at the demon girl. That was no costume... As he continued to stare, that's when he saw something even more frightening... Or amazing.

Ruby

This red looks nice- What do you mean that's not a "mood"?

Location: Wherever is most convenient

The more Ruby walked around, looking for people he thought could read his book, the less he felt like he would ever find somebody who could. He guessed he had to keep looking, though. He wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to be the Mamodo King, but he certainly did want to find someone who could read his book before another Mamodo with a human who could read their book found him. At that point he would, at the very least, have a chance at succeeding. Disappearing seemed like it would be unpleasant, despite the fact that he knew that he would be just fine after disappearing. Well, as fine as he could be, he supposed.

The street he was on was crowded, and nobody seemed to pay any mind to the fact that there was a six year old boy clutching a large book and walking on his own. Ruby had gotten used to this, less people noticing him meant that there were less opportunities to present his book to humans, though. Maybe he needed some other strategy, there were an awful lot of people on the streets. No, he supposed that it would be fine. If somebody thought his book looked interesting or wondered what such a young child was doing walking out on his own, at that point he would show them his book. Not before, he didn't want to bother the people.

He grunted as an adult man walked straight into his side, knocking him flat on his butt. the Man stopped for a second to look to see exactly what he had run into, a sneer crossing his face when he saw that it was just a little boy. "Watch where yer fuckin' goin', brat," He snapped at the young Mamodo before heading off.

Wave

The Paper Mamodo

Wave walked through the streets of the city, he looked around the stores and other services that were crucial for the humans. He couldn't exactly understand why or how they worked, as in the mamodo world they just had to snap their fingers and all came to them, but the humans worked so hard to get what they want, it was just amazing.

The white haired mamodo then went to a park to see how the humans interacted with each other, it was a wonderful sign. Just peace and freedom to do what they wanted to, it was what he actually wanted for himself. He was proud to be a mamodo but he wasn't exactly fond to fight with others and that war was making him fight and kill his fellow mamodos just to see who's the strongest one and be crowned as king.

The mamodo looked at his book, the cover being just like the sky of that day and it had a scription in the mamodo language which was actually his own name and the name of his magic. He then softened his look to close his eyes and give a soft sign, like if he just surrendered to what it was destined to him. Being a mamodo was a blessing and curse they he had to bear now, even though he wasn't exactly complaining about his former life, but the Mamodo World would be much even better without the war.

North/Seven

North stop running off

Location: Ireland

"North! Come back here!" Seven nearly toppled over as he stood up to chase after his younger sister, who had just managed to barge her way out the door of the McDonalds they were in. Why had he chosen today to sit by the door with her? Why was she throwing a temper tantrum? Was there something wrong with her Chicken Nuggets? North had been fine like, five seconds beforehand, playing with the tiny little stuffed toy that had come in her food. Jesus, five year olds were more difficult than he ever anticipated. Without even picking up his phone, he ran out the door after his sister.

North was about twenty foot away from the door when she ran face-first into a white haired boy that seemed to a bit older than her. She fell over onto her butt with an upset squeak. She wasn't really hurt, but she definitely looked unhappy. That was, until she saw that the boy she had run into had a really big book. She pointed up at the boy's book. "Hey, wassat book?" she asked.

Jonathan Maurice Crow

Another simple day, this is what Jonathan's life had become, though his old bones were definitely thanking him for it. Carrying a small bag, the elderly man strode with his cane, seeming to put a large amount of his weight on it, tall compared to the crowd, yet hunched over, skinny and frail in complexion, his face a pattern of wrinkles. As he continued to stroll, he noticed a small child, whom seemed to wear desperation on his face. Of course he was being ignored, people were so busy these days, as if they couldn't take a minute out of their schedules. "If they only took the time, perhaps they would realise how much more there is to life." Jonathan contemplated, before strolling toward the boy. "Impatient oaf..." The elderly man muttered under his breath as the child was knocked to the ground. Sure, he could teach the impatient man a lesson, but in his mind, his focus should be placed elsewhere.

The first thing the small mamodo would see after being knocked to the ground, would be the extended palm of the elderly man, a peaceful smile plastered on his face, his other arm still resting his weight on the cane. "What's a strong young man like yourself doing sitting here alone?" He asked in a kindhearted voice, his fingers stretching out toward the boy in an attempt to help him up.

Wave

The Paper Mamodo

Wave was relaxing without any problem, but then this girl appeared and fell next to him. He looked at her scared as she could get hurt but then she asked about his book with a finger pointed at it and a curious face, he smiled and just looked at his book to look at the girl again, softening his smile.

"It is my special book, do you want to read it? Only a special people could read it, it could be you." He said as he passed the book to as he fixed his hair and took on the hood of his cloak.

He actually didn't wanted that girl to be able to read the book. It would be extremely risky for her and for him, since he had to use a lot of heart power to use his powers and she could be hurt easily, just by looking back at how she fell it may be that she would be a troublesome kid.

"So... You're interested in dolls now? So much for that whole 'king' business." The man stated, but the boy continued to stare at the figure in his hand. "You know, you can just take it, anything that'll get us out of this weird shop." The man followed up, yet the boy continued to ignore him.

"This isn't human in origin." The boy finally responded, glancing toward the man, and back at the doll.

As the emergency response arrived, the flames inside of the shop roared, everything burning to a crisp. The doll lay in the middle of the room, not yet exposed to the heat, yet as the flames finally reached it's exposed 'hand', it seemed to disperse into ash almost instantly.

The strange fire would appear on the Japanese news stations, the cause almost explainable to the fire chief, it was as if the objects had burnt from the inside.

Ehhh, let's go with frightening. Felix-chan didn't know what he had just done, but he was about to. With all the onlookers, this would definitely need some explaining... Or none, as these things usually had. Just some sort of 'freak accident'. 'Pipes and gas', or stuff along those lines were usually the things that took blame for such unnatural events. Sometimes, someone actually had a video of such a thing. Maybe one of these nearby fools had their cells out? Though, those usually were 'debunked' as hoaxes, or what have you. By skeptics. Who, normally had pretty good reason to be skeptical. If only they knew...

Knew that this was real magic. That Chiyami was a Mamodo, and was using both the male he clung to, and the male's blood and voice to fuel his spells. Spells that would be used to destroy other Mamodo (their books...) and to become the Mamodo King.

Except, right now, it would be used to destroy a streetlight. As he read the first spell, Chiyami felt the surge of magical power, though it was weak, from the weakest first spell, but hey, it was still a surge! An exhilarating one! Laughing, Chiyami raised his hand.

"AHHahahahiihihihi!" the Mamodo cackled. From his raised hand, his palm, more specifically, fired a blackish-red tendril. It pulsed through the air and smashed into the streetlight in a burst of magical power. Instantly, the streetlight sparked shattered and collapsed to the street below, causing a few cars to come to screeching, honking stops. With maybe more than one wreck.

Only a special person could read the book, and that person could have been her? Well, of course North wanted to be the person to be able to read the book. That meant that she would be special, with the book pretty much just being a secondary thing to consider in her eyes. "Yeah, I wanna try and read it! Lemme see, lemme see!" She exclaimed, reaching up to take the book from the white haired boy.

When she opened the book, the only thing the words in it looked like were a bunch of scribbles, as if the boy who had just given her the book had just taken a crayon and scribbled around in it for a while. North wasn't the best at reading, given that she was only in Kindergarten, but she knew her alphabet and this definitely was not what it was supposed to look like. If it had been letters, she definitely would have been able to read what was in it. "This just looks like a bunch of scribbles," She mumbled, disappointed.
    giphy.gif

Seven felt like it had taken forever to find where North had gone, but he could finally see her standing with a little boy. Thank God, she had found another child instead of a perverted old man or woman. Generally, another little kid could be considered safe. Breathless, he jogged over to his younger sister, and put a hand on the top of her head. The five year old blinked and looked up at him while he stood there for a moment, trying to catch his breath.

"He says this book can only be read by someone special," Seven heard North say, making him finally pay attention to the fact that she was holding a rather large bluish white book. Well, now she was holding it up for him to look at, open to the first page. What did she mean it could only be read by someone special? Yeah, the word on the page was strange, but it definitely was in English letters.

"What do you mean, North? The word looks weird, but it's not in a foreign language or anything," Seven sighed, before turning his head to look at the boy that his little sister had been talking to. He definitely couldn't have been older than twelve, at most. Where were his parents? He picked the book up from North's hands, then with his free hand picked up North to balance her on his hip and keep her from running off once again. He held the book out to the little boy, "I'm sorry about North- Are you lost? Do you need help finding your parents?"

Mira ModifeMira wasn't terribly sure how long she'd been in this box- a few days, weeks? Maybe she'd been in there a year, and she was about to win the Battle for Mamodo King sheerly by default because no one had noticed she was here.

Thinking critically, she'd probably been in there for a few hours- 48 at most. She was sure she'd been on a boat for a bit, but she didn't have much room to move. It was just her and her book, curled up harmlessly like a tiny doll. Which is what had gotten her into trouble in the first place.

At what seemed like long last, she was set on a doorstep, and left alone. Very alone. Gosh, was she hungry. She thought for a moment. Mira really, really didn't want to be a toy for some child. Not when her destined book wielder was out there. Oh, gosh, if only she could use her powers on her own, she could get out of this box. Then again, perhaps she might still. She ripped at the box containing her, finding it wasn't much more than cardboard- it was a wonder she hadn't suffocated. She ripped and tore at the box until it came apart in shreds around her.

She was on the doorstep of a house- it looked rather empty. She shouldn't stay. Her stomach growled. She needed food. That house would have food. She tried the door. Locked. She pondered for a moment- should she wait for the people to return and feed her? Or go off in search of her own food.

No... no human would feed some odd looking kid with a book. Best to just wait it out.

Matashi Lee, and the mamodo Tal'ash
"So, you're sure this is the place?" Tal'ash spoke up to the man standing beside him, whom seemed to be observing the apartment complex.
"Pretty sure. At least that's what that girl whimpered while you were trashing the lobby. They don't usually lie when they're like that." Matashi responded, before turning his gaze back to the demon child. "I hope this one puts up more of a fight than the last." He continued.
"It doesn't matter." Tal'ash responded, facing forward, strapping a mask to his face. "There will be plenty more after this one." He stated, before readying himself.

Japanese news station, playing from a nearby television: "The lobby of the popular doll company 'McDolls' was recently attacked by a pair of thugs, charred remains of furniture and decorations still remain as fire crews analyse the situation. Two security personnel are being treated for their injuries, the sole witness, a secretary at the company, had this to say." - "I-i-it was a monster, a child, burning everything, shooting fire from his feet! His face wasn't human! Covered in markings and who knows what else! And the man he was with just kept asking me for different peoples addresses!" - "Clearly the trauma had gotten to the poor woman. Police officials are still attempting to discover if there is a link between this attack, and one in a downtown store just a few hours ago. This is Kaneko Aiga, channel ten news."

"Well, if he doesn't have the girl, I'm sure he'll know who does." Matashi stated, pulling the Orange-Red book from his coat, a light emanating from it as he placed his hand upon the open pages. "Let's get his attention... Emeru-Redo!"
Suddenly a thick bout of flame sputtered from Tal'ash's legs, engulfing them in fire. The mamodo began to run into the apartment complex, kicking down doors and causing areas to be engulfed in flame. All-the-while making his way to the room he was looking for. Victor Firsting's apartment.

Felix Warrick
The air around the young man felt almost freezing cold, it was as if time itself had stopped. Some nearby shouted, claiming lightning must have struck, and yet there was no charring present. Many ran in fear, and confusion. A nearby elderly lady, concerned about the interaction between the young child and the man, perhaps too nosy for her own good, fell to the ground, feinting from the sight of the demon child's magical ability, a couple of men nearby assisting her.

Mouth agape, Felix did not move for a short time, a small, almost invisible smirk developed on the corners of his fearful expression. That was amazing, like something his wizard would do, but... It was real... And it was deadly.

Suddenly time seemed to start again, it never actually stopped, Felix simply stood in disbelief, though now he was alert once more. What had he just done? What did he feel when he read the book? Had he just made some weird deal? Maybe his mother's constant threats about the devil weren't just nonsense. He just came out here to try to find some crap job to satisfy her constant nagging, and now he was fearing his actions far more than if he had signed a contract to some pizza place.

Slowly, Felix turned his head. The girl seemed amused by her spell, at least she had only cast it once, who knew what kind of destruction this thing could do. "W... What are you?" Felix slightly quivered, eyes shivering as he looked toward it, but in truth, it wasn't only fear driving this question, the small child had become extremely interesting.

Jonathan Maurice Crow
Jonathan smiled as the boy placed some sort of novel in his hand, allowing him to help the child to his feet. "Your book?" John asked in reply, glancing at the tomb the young boy was offering. It was definitely peculiar, not something you would see a child carrying on a normal day. But who knew how long the poor boy had been here for, perhaps lost in this busy town. His face became one of peculiar interest for a short moment, before returning to friendly expression, in an attempt to reassure the boy, who was likely afraid considering the circumstances. "How about we get you some food first? Perhaps a cup of tea. Then we'll take a look at your book, and find out where you've come from."

Jonathan did a quick 180, spinning toward the opposite direction. "My abode is nearby. These old bones couldn't handle taking the groceries much further." He chuckled, before placing his weight upon his cane once more, waving his hand in a motion for the boy to follow.
