The other side of the coin is that Ceil is more reclusive and subdued without his disguise on, keeping to himself as much as possible without ever revealing too much about himself. Having been on the precipice of devouring a human soul, Ceil feels a level of shame around others; knowing that he was on the verge of discarding his humanity so easily whilst under the order of another. He see's himself as an insult and a blight compared to the purity of other students around him; men and women who were not tainted by the cold grasp of darkness that almost snuffed him and because of this Ceil keeps his hair long solely to act as a 'barrier' to hide his face from view. The act of forming relationships and friendship is an alien concept to Ceil, having only ever been taught that his Masters command is absolute. The act of bonding with people around his age was a privilege not given to him and those unfortunate enough to be dragged into Grizwal's 'weapon program'.
Ceil has not fully recovered from the mental conditioning that he received during his training and thus still retains a somewhat subservient demeanor towards his meister. He still awaits and follows commands as he would have done prior to his arrival at the DWMA, however now he knows how to differentiate between right and wrong and will refuse a command if he strongly feels against it. His subservient habits still means that he is fiercely protective of his Meister to the point where he will put his own life on the line for them if the situation arose. He subconsciously always walks behind others and will often times struggle to retain eye contact with someone. In such situations where he feels uncomfortable, his eyes will often dart from side to side and he will fidget on the spot.
Wanting to follow in the footsteps of the DWMA's Meister and Weapons program, Saizo has chosen to enroll himself in the establishment, seeking to find a partner that shares his own goals and sought to find strength through their partnership whilst fighting off those that would choose to de-stabilize the peace. Despite the equal relationship emphasized between weapon and Meister, Saizo still has slight subservient tendencies such as walking behind his Meister and being somewhat overly respectful.
Likes
- Ceil really likes his Etch N Sketch. It makes conversing much easier, especially when he needs to erase something. The old Pen and Paper simply becomes too tedious.. especially since he keeps misplacing the pen...
- He likes the security he feels when wearing the Mask, especially after his past Trauma. It also acts as a deterrent for people that want to engage him in conversation... since prolonged chatting is a bit tedious for him
- He likes the direction and Objective of the DWMA in terms of their weapon and Meister program. He feels it is the ideal way to raise up an effective partnership between the two. Also the way the course treats Demon Weapons as people too is highly appealing, whereas the Grizwal VIllage viewed them as nothing more than tools and merchandise.
Dislikes
- The Grizwal Village and everything they stand for. The way they rip Demon Weapons from their family, condition them and finally auction them off is sickening to him.
- Having to talk a lot. His 'condition' makes it tedious and long conversations often put a strain on his hands. He was never good at penmanship and the caliber of his hand writing is atrocious.
- He dislikes having to bring up his past or answer questions about himself. 'Why can't you talk?' Whats the mask for?. Such questions tend to irritate him.
Ceil is of average height standing at only 5'10 when barefoot. He has a tone and lithe physique with defined muscle outline all along his body sculpted through the rigorous physical training he had to tolerate when growing up. His complexion is fair at best, bordering on the pale side of the spectrum and tends to suit the white hair that he was born with. Along his whole body are several scar marks from injuries sustained long ago; a permanent reminder of 'what not to do' when alone in the wilderness. Whilst its safe to say that 90% of the scars were sustained via injuries during his training; there are also marks along his back that were placed there by his instructors; brutal whipping sessions designed to force obedience upon the various weapons in their training. The scars from the whip only adorn his back, mainly below his shoulder blades up to a few inches above the waist. Light apple green irises and a blemish free face, Ceil retains a rather youthful appearance despite being in his teenage years. He has light blond stubble along his cheeks, barely visible to the naked eye and it never seems to grow beyond a stubble.
In terms of attire, Ceil almost always wears a black face mask that covers the bottom half of his face, mainly covering his mouth. The mask helps to give him a sense of security and comfort especially considering how close he was to consuming a human soul. With the mask in place, he at the very least feels less likely to ever end up in that kind of situation again. On top of that, it helps act as a deterrent when 'conversing' with other people; given his current ailment.
He often wears an almost militaristic outfit at nearly all times, consisting of a Navy blue bottoms and Jacket over a simple plain white T-shirt. The Top is aligned with gold trimmings and golden buttons to contrast with the deep blue color of his attire. He wears leather gloves nearly 24/7.
Attached to his waist is a standard issue Katana which he is highly proficient in wielding.
The only other visible marking is a large black branding on the back of his neck, no bigger then a dollar coin. The mark itself permanently placed upon him by the Grizwal elders upon his 'graduation' from the training. The marking itself is completely symmetrical and is branded upon each recruit once they 'pass'. In order to hide this branding from the view of others, Ceil keeps his hair long so that it always covers the back of his neck.
Ceil is a deadly demon weapon that takes on the appearance of large ruby adorned scissors, with blades reaching a length of 60 inches and a width of 20 inches per blade, getting narrower towards the tip of the blade. Runic engravings are etched across the expanse of his handle whilst crimson colored rubies are fixed upon the hilt. Ceil's weapon form takes on two distinct appearances, the first being its 'Sheated' mode where a scabbard is fixed around the bladed portion of his new 'body'.
With the scabbard present, Ceil in his weapon form is incredibly durable, allowing him to deflect projectiles and withstand powerful blows on a much higher level than the standard durability of Demon weapons. Offensively, having no blade Ceil can only be wielded like a blunt spear or hammer in this state.
The second form that Ceil can enter is his 'Released' State, the mode in which the Scabbard is not present any more. In this state, Ceil's blades are exposed and are thus usable in combat. Being double edged, he can be wielded like a large broadsword in combat to devastating effect or be wielded like Giant scissors where his two blades separate and cut through their opponent. At present, Ceil can cut through large tree's and weaker metal alloys.
~Resonation~
Resonation takes Ceil's offensive properties a step further, reducing his overall weight whilst retaining his durability and impact. In addition to this, Ceil's blades morph into serrated edges and act like chainsaws, increasing his cutting capabilities to the next level. With both blades 'closed' the serrated edges will move in conjunction with one another, moving in a clockwise manner, whereas when the blades are 'opened', they will rotate in opposing directions and thus enhance his 'cutting' abilities to a much larger extent.
As a Weapon, Ceil can be wielded like a large Broadsword or like a Lance depending on the preference of his Meister. His blades are double edged and just as sharp on both sides. Being highly durable and having thick Blades, he can be used like a make shift shield, deflecting attacks with his blades. Alternatively, his Meister can use both hands and literally wield him like scissors, cutting away at anything that sands before them
Ceil can freely change either and even both hands into the blades of his Weapon form. He can either morph both hands into a blade each, transforming his Elbow up to his fingers into the length of the blade. (Think Scyther/Kabutops sorta thing) Alternatively, he can focus the transformation into a single hand and effectively transform a single limb into a fully functional scissor. In essence when forced to fight alone, he can either shift each Hand into a blade from his Scissor form, or recreate the 'Scissor' in his right hand by making he gesture for Star Trek's Vulcan Salute.
Ceil is also highly proficient in swordsmanship, carrying with him a standard Issue Katana that he can wield with either hand. Despite his ability to morph into his scissor form, Ceil chooses to keep the sword for both training purposes and because he thinks it suits his attire.
Strengths
- Ceil can fight decently without his Meister. He is trained in Swordsmanship and can thus defend himself with his Katana, though he falls short if fighting against another Demon Weapon in this state.
- He can shift either both of his Hands into a Single blade of his Scissor form, or shift his right hand into both blades to replicate an actual scissor.
- He is battle hardened and unafraid to enact the killing blow against a Witch or Kishin, whereas most 'new' to combat may hesitate
- He is quiet. Not a chatty Mc Chatterson type of guy
Weakness
- Ceil does not talk, therefore effectively communicating what he wants to say is very difficult. Outside of combat, he can get by with his Etch N Sketch or a Pen and Paper, however in combat it takes too long to write and thus he can't really aide his Meister if he were to spot an opening etc.
- May come across as aloof due to his inability to talk. He will walk away from someone who he feels is gonna chat non-stop, just for the sake of sparing himself a headache. Could potentially start a riff between himself and others because of this
- Being a Giant Scissor weapon, his weapon form is a bit unorthodox and potentially difficult to use. Whilst the most common way of wielding him would be like a Broadsword or Lance. Could prove difficult to wield effectively.
In order to meet the 'demand', Every 'odd' number child that a family had was required to attend the Villages training program, Children with and without the 'Weapon Gene' were taken into seperate groups, each group trained in specific arts. The children without the weapon gene were often taught how to utilize different forms of weapons to a high degree so that they could be effective in just about any situation, where as those with the weapon gene were given the same lessons as well as lessons on how to control their innate ability. These 'meister's were nothing more then humans skilled in combat and lacked the proper control over their soul and as such were a poor mans imitation to the students and agents of the DWMA. Sold or Rented to various people, these were the cheapest 'products' that Grizwal had to offer. The Demon weapons on the other hand were far more expensive due to their 'ability'. Some times, pairs were even sold or rented out together; combining the two fee's together. The Grizwal hierarchy favored no one and treated all buyers as equal; having no issue if the situation arose where two or more of their own students had to fight one another. It has been recorded in the past that two or more individuals of the Village have been forced to combat one another under the orders of their respective masters.
In order to 'kill off' any emotions that may cause them to falter in such cases, the Grizwal clan have imposed a strict training regiment for their students. Students in training are often trained in isolation within the deep recesses of the mountain; many of which are forced to find refuge in the dark forest or caves and left to fend on their own. Instructors arrive at varying intervals, each instructed to train the 'recuits' in a variety of combat techniques. The belief was that every Weapon should not only understand their form's but to be able to wield weapons of identical nature on their own accord, so that by understanding how to wield the weapon, they are bettering themselves as well. The weapon is an extension of themselves and thus they are an extension of their meister.
Life in the wilderness was as you could expect; Arduous. Yet the instructors were well aware of this and did little if anything to try and ease this burden. Trainee's sent into mountain exile were left to fend for themselves, even if it meant confronting a fellow recruit over the lack of resources available. It was a kill or be killed; a survival of the fittest scenario and a test meant to weed out the weak and identify the strong, for only the strong would enhance the reputation of their services. The young weapons learned to hunt, to kill, to struggle and to survive. Emotions that were meant to preserve their humanity were often killed off and put to rest during this trial. Of course, even after the ordeal, the weapons were kept on their toes. Various incense were used throughout the duration of the training; scents used to 'drug' the trainees without their consent and trigger hallucinations. Often times the students would see phantasmal creatures attack them, forcing them to fight an entity that didn't really exist. Sometimes they would see illusions of other students; these shadowy impersonations attacking them without reason; only to dissipate in a cloud of smoke once they were defeated. The last and most grueling of these illusions was designed to kill off the last shred of their emotions. A fight within themselves, the devils dance as it was called. Trainee's that had retained their sanity thus far were forced to fight them self; the hallucination giving birth to a replica of themselves. Killing this last illusion was a symbolic act of killing their former self and killing their individuality. Now they were merely puppets for whoever owned the rights to their strings.
Training completed and ready to be sent out; Ceil was auctioned off to the highest bidder. His rather desirable weapon form garnering a lot of attention from various men, women and organizations. Alas, young Ceil was sold off to a large crime syndicate becoming one of many demon weapons in his collection. Like the others before him, Ceil acted as a bodyguard to the head of the crime syndicate; forced to fight on command; often times partially transforming one of his hands into the bladed portion of his weapon form in order to fight.
For the most part, Ceil went along with the crime syndicate; not knowing any other way to live outside of the village of Grizwal. That was until he was issued a command that he had not even imagined being issued. His Master growing weary of him had decided that an 'upgrade' was required, something that would strengthen his 'weapons' as well as make use of the countless people they had murdered. Human Souls were abundant in their line of work and like Kishin egg's, it was rumored that the consumption of enough human souls would grant a demon weapon power, thus believing this to be true his master had gathered several human souls; handing one to Ceil; much to the boys shock.
Something clicked within him, his mind shaken to the core as an electrical surge rushed forth into his body giving him cause to hesitate. The smallest remnant of his former self that had managed to survive within the darkest recesses of his mind had sparked back to life; this flicker of light acting as the conscience he had long since thought gone. Before him in the palm of his hand was a human soul, a blue will o the wisp type flame that sparkled before him. Was he really about to consume this soul without question? Was he willingly going to follow his meisters nefarious goals just because he was a tool? His body shook as he hesitated, cold sweat beading down his forehead as his mind scrambled for whatever fragment of sanity it could find. There was no way he could go through with this, there was no way he could consume this soul as commanded, it simply wasn't humane. Doing so would have solidified his status as a tool and killed off the last speck of humanity that he had unconsciously clung onto.
Ceil couldn't do it.
That very night he ran, escaping from his Master's mansion; the soul hidden within his vest as he fled into the darkness never to be seen again. A killing order was issued, a bounty placed upon Ceil's head from the villages elders. He had damaged their reputation and in doing so had inflicted a huge loss on the villages overall income. With word of his betrayal, many of the villages customers had begun to question the value of their products, some even seeking new avenues to acquire such wares. The only way for the Grizwal village to regain their honor was to eliminate the cause for its current state.
Now, Ceil takes refuge at the DWMA using a shortened form of his codename as his daily alias. During his excursions out of the DWMA, Ceil often wears a disguise in fear of being recognized by the agents of Grizwal. One point of note, The emotional strain that Ceil had gone through did come with a price. While nothing is physically wrong with Ceil, he has lost his ability of speech.
Ceil has become a Mute. Despite Ceil not having anything physically wrong with him, he has lost the ability to talk or even make sound from his mouth. The doctors that have examined him several times in an attempt to find out the cause for his problem and the only conclusion that they can draw is that it is a mental issue that is blocking his ability to speak. With no physical injuries to suggest a possible cause and Ceil's reluctance to 'write out' his past to others, there is not much anyone can do to help at the moment as the 'source' of the problem remains unknown.
To communicate, Ceil will often times pull out a parchment of paper with his words written upon it. Sometimes he will even carry with him a small etch N sketch so that he doesn't need to waste paper whenever he tries to communicate. Ceil's penmanship is also quite shocking, so reading his hand writing is somewhat of a mission for others.
Without his mask, Ceil tends to keep to himself and is very reclusive and wary of others. He will often times bury himself in a book; regardless of whether or not it interest's him. With his mask on, he is more daring and active, unafraid to joke in the midst of combat if given the chance to. He acts more sarcastic and confident when wearing the mask.
How do you feel about the DWMA?
Ceil strongly believes that the DWMA's Meister and Weapon program is the correct path for Weapons to follow. The Organizations attempt to forge a strong working relationship where technician and Weapon are regarded as equals was a strong factor in Ceil wishing to enroll here. Equality aside, the Weapons here are treated as more than just a weapon for combat
Why have you joined the DWMA?
Ceil joined the DWMA for two main reasons. As stated above, he agree's with their program's outline. Secondly and rather selfishly, Ceil has used the DWMA as a place to hide in as he remains on the hit list of his Village. Even the assassin weapons trained at the Village of Grizwal would find it difficult to confront him at the DWMA.
What motivates you?
First and foremost the thing that always motivates Ceil is the need to live and to retain his humanity. The life he had prior to coming here was akin to hell; following the commands of someone who 'purchased' you and almost losing your own sense of self due to their selfish ideals. Ceil strives to cling onto what it means to be a person as well as make ammends for the evil deeds he was forced to carry out.
What are your goals while attending the DWMA?
To become a Weapon of great influence in order to accomplish his desire of destroying the Grizwal Villages tradition.
