Josephine had to admit she was a little surprised to hear Ella wanted her on her own team. She sort of just figured that she and father would be on a team while Ella and Peter joined up. She wasn't complaining, though, and gave Ella a nod. Any opportunity to show up Peter was a good opportunity. "Sounds fine to me. As long as father and your boyfriend are prepared to lose to a couple of girls."
Mr. Sinclair just laughed. Josephine's competitive edge was no secret in this house, so he always expected this sort of thing from her. "Very well. Peter, I apologize in advance if my old brain can't keep up." They really probably stood no chance, but that was fine. It was more about the fun of it, and he loved spending time with his girls.
"That's alright, sir," Peter said. "We can just say we let them win," he teased, biting into his pancakes. Rory had really outdone himself with this meal. He wished he could have them all the time. He made a note to remember the chocolate covered strawberries for tonight as well. It wouldn't be a special date without some of Miss Crawford's magic. Peter doubted it would matter much that Ella was already eating strawberries and chocolate right now for breakfast, but if it did, at least there was still wine and candles and his small little gift to her. "Good. Can't wait," he said.
The four of them enjoyed their walk mostly in silence, just enjoying the day. It was nice out. Not too hot, sunny, and there was a gentle breeze. Peter still missed the smells of the ocean, but the scent of flowers from the garden was quickly becoming a close second favorite. When they got back inside, he took his place by Mr. Sinclair while Josephine passed out small pieces of paper for them to write their topics on.
