  luke was born in a house where everything was a constant fight. his parents' marriage was rocky, with constant arguments that most of the time ended up involving him and his brother, maxwell. luke's parents were never satisfied with anything, and any small mistake caused an explosion of anger. so he and his brother had to learn to walk on eggshells to avoid their outbursts and lock themselves in their rooms for hours to prevent violent fights from breaking out.
  
  luke led a lonely life at home, since he had no close friends with whom he could talk with, and max would spend most of his time outside or studying in his room. his mother worked all day and his father locked himself in his study, so they barely spent time together as a family. despite this, luke clung to the idea that he could achieve something great in his life, if only to show his parents that he could do something right. he immersed himself in his studies and became a brilliant student. though he always had the feeling that he wasn't doing enough. even after achieving top grades in his class and being recognized by his teachers, his parents still seemed unimpressed with his work and always managed to find mistakes where there were none.
  
  meanwhile, the relationship between his parents worsened over time. the tension between them was palpable, and though they tried to hide it, everyone could feel the hostility in the air. luke often wondered if his parents would get a divorce, but he never dared to ask them directly. instead, he strove to stay busy and focused on his studies to escape the situation he found himself in.
  
  as he got older, he began to defy his parents more openly. he wanted to express himself and be his own individual. the standards they set for him were impossible for anyone to meet, and any failure was met with criticism and scolding. luke began to feel trapped in his own home, without any freedom or privacy. and they would yell at him for doing the things most people should have the opportunity to do at that age. going out, enjoying, having free time and focusing on anything other than school.

  Gio has always been on the quite and laid-back side of life. They seem to be rather bored of life with his heads in the clouds and no motivation to do much. However, under that bored expression is someone who's mind is always racing, always thinking, and has an appreciation of many things. Yet above anything else, they are food-motivated with many of their mtoivators and passions falling under the food category in some form. Gio can also be a little michevious, a calm type of chaotic where they have no problem stirring the pot then slowly backing away.   Gio was born into your traditional Italian family, like the ones you might see in movies where they are always moving, always loud, and privacy is rarely a thing. He was the middle child of five and the quietest of the bunch too. He was often talked over and known to be a bit of a crybaby. For a long time, Gio never knew why he cried so much but later learned he was easily overstimulated without proper distraction (such as cooking). The constant shouting and moving around was overwhelming and caused him to cry a lot. This followed throughout elementary school, often making him prone to being bullied, not just by his peers but also by his siblings as well, older and even younger. Gio didn’t fit in, anywhere, except in the world of his own. In early elementary, he was quick to find the use and magic of putting in headphones, drowning out the sounds of crazy and the world with music, allowing him to be alone with himself. He wasn’t outgoing but wasn’t unkind. However dealing with the world caused him to be very tired all of the time, taking naps when he could but also coming off as lazy or unproductive to unperceptive eyes dealing with the world was exhausting as he was always overstimulated and always had a sense of dread no matter where he went. Yet despite his seemingly lazy nature, Gio was very smart. He did well in all of his classes and his schoolwork, it was something he could control, and knew what the outcome was going to be. He was always top of the class, which unsurprisingly didn’t make life any easier. If being the quiet weird Italian kid wasn’t enough, he also gain the title of being nerd, dweeb, geek, and freak. Gio couldn’t escape these names, his siblings going as far as encouraging other kids to call him such. Feeling safe to be himself was never an option and learned to simply cope with it. Yet there was one other place, and maybe 2 people that he felt okay around, the kitchen with his mom and the youngest child, his baby sister Chiara.
  Growing older he became closer to Chiara and the person he could confide in. As he got older, the bullying got worse and Gio started to feel even more out of place. He never really felt an attraction to people, not the same way as other kids, nor did he feel comfortable in his skin physically. Like any good Italian family, according to his parents at least, they were strongly catholic and everyone went to church on Sundays and celebrated feast days, participated in lent, and Gio felt guilt about who he was, or what he thought he was supposed to be, and for some time, thought the bullying was a punishment for how Gio was turning out. It didn’t take until high school before Gio shared this info with Chiara, who was quick to begin talking Gio out of it, as she too was feeling immense pressure from their family and faith as well. Slowly, first starting online, Gio began to explore this unease of his identity, beginning by deciding he must be bisexual, as clearly, feeling no attraction to either gender meant equal attraction to both genders. Then he began to explore genders and found a haven of kind queers online, who were helping him deal with the bullying and emotional trauma he has been through as his family never treated Gio kindly except his mom when she could, and Chiara. Then he began coming out to the few friends he started to make in high school, not that the bullying stopped by finding other “weirdos” who were also being bullied. They were kind and also a group of queers trying to find their way in the world, some in more accepting houses but most of them weren’t.
  
  Things began to change his senior year. Call it senioritis or a sudden realization but, Gio, with the help of his friends in high school, and those he met online, realized he doesn’t have to let others decide what he should be, what he could be even. Gio's family wasn’t rich, but they were always tight on money and none of the siblings before him went to college and instead either got a job, married, or both within 2-3 years of leaving high school. Gio however knew his passion was in cooking. Throughout all of the chaos, Gio always felt the most confident in the kitchen, learning recipes passed down from generations by his mom, and the one thing his family could agree on: Gio could cook, Gio could bake. So, he set his sights on culinary school, something Chiara suggested even and Gio began researching on his own. Trying to make it through high school, he also had to figure out how to explain anything and everything to, his parents. School was expensive and would need help. Yet he didn’t know what to say but, there was never time for him to explain as, someone ratted him out and by this point, Gio was identifying as Non-binary and Pansexual and word got around school but also back home.
  
  It was almost overnight how it happened. One message there, and it spread like wildfire. When Gio got to school, he was a target, or by now what his close friends were using, they were THE target. Gio did experience panic attacks often but has learned how to cope with them but this time at school was nothing like before. Blurred vision, struggling to breathe, their whole body freezing up as he wanted nothing more but to escape, they were truly afraid of being at school. This also meant, their siblings would learn, who in turn would tell their parents, and if school wasn’t scary enough, returning home would be more terrifying. Barely surviving the day, Gio did, eventually, have to go home.
  
  The walk home was nothing but dread, and they decided to walk alone, and wait as long as he could as well, and when they got home, it was silent. Usually, Gio enjoyed the silence but this experience wasn’t going to be good. And it wasn’t Waiting for them. Around the table were, their parents, and their siblings, waiting like a council. Chiara looked scared for them, and as Gio opened their mouth to speak, they were cut off by their dad. Quiet at first, but his voice got louder and louder. Gio felt a wave come over them, expect to cry but, something blocked him, staring at the person, the people who were supposed to love them. Care for them. Help them figure things out. Hands slammed on the table, and people jumped as their Dad jumped up, but it was all just noise for Gio by now.
  
  “Stop,” Gio said and the angry dad grew furious.
  
  “Did you just talk back? You ungrateful-”
  
  “Brat? Bastard? Son? Child? Freak? Spawn of Satan? Devil? Yeah, I know. I know you never loved me. It’s because I’m not like them right? I’m not like the others, hell, I’m not like anyone in this unforgiving family. So you know what yeah, it’s true. I’m queer, and what are you going to do about it? Not like you can kill me because that's illegal but I wouldn’t put it past you at this point. I’m a disappointment to this family who has given me nothing. I am the family shame, the scarlet A that taints this precious blood and the rest of the world agrees. Tell me something I don’t know now.”
  
  Shock, anger, confusion. No one had heard Gio before, but there was a dead expression on their face, staring their father down, the two were silent, and unblinking for an uncomfortable few moments before Gio’s father pointed at the door.
  
  “Out.” Gio didn’t move. “I said out. You are no son of mine.”
  
  “Honey-wait! You can’t-”
  
  “SHUT UP”
  
  His mom tried to speak up, reaching out to grab her husband's arm only to be shockingly slapped away, everyone’s attention was on Gio now on their dad. They had never seen him so angry and their mom was even more surprised.
  
  “I SAID OUT! YOU ARE NO LONGER A PART OF THIS FAMILY!”
  
  Everyone was frozen, and Gio would take an audible, but shaky deep breath and take a step back. “Fine.” They took another step back. “Oh, also, I’m going to culinary school. If I become well-known don’t come crawling back to me. I never want to see your face again…Guilio.”
  
  That was the end of Giovanni Robello-Cugini. They left with nothing but their school bag, deleting all forms of social media they had that their family could find. They decided to use their mother's maiden name (as typically they were using their father; Robello) and they found a safe place for the time with one of his friends, one with a more accepting family. Even then, Gio was barely around, picking up jobs and began applying for scholarships and saving for school.
  
  By some miracle, Gio did get accepted in a culinary school, a small one at that, and got a decent scholarship and at least free room and board for their first year. Gio began building themselves back up, allowing the college to be a new slate for themself and began to be the person they always felt they were. Gio was still quiet, and still struggled with their anxiety but, finally started to get better. Gio left behind all of their old friends, and their family, cutting off contact with their mom and sister, not before saying goodbye to them before, and began to pay attention to things they enjoy. Just like in school, Gio was excelling in culinary school, their skills noted by a professor who took the alone Gio under his wing, and helped Gio throughout college up until he graduated, and was able to walk across that stage. With a diploma in hand, he was shaking with their free hand with the professor/chef gripped onto Gio’s hand, causing the young graduate to stop for a moment.
  
  “I am proud of you… now show the rest of the world what you can do.”
  
  For a moment, their eyes showed some sign of tears, and a smile on their face as this chef took Gio under his wing, among many other professors and Gio nodded slightly.
  
  “I will, they won’t know what hit them.”

  BackstoryEvelyn’s Backstory: Evelyn was born into a family on the poorer side. They could make ends meet, but never really could do much else besides live. She had an older brother by 4 years and two loving parents who both worked. However, her mother would end up being injured at work, leaving only her father to be the breadwinner. Her brother was a prodigy in school. Straight A’s all the way through and never missed a beat. When the two grew even older, Eve’s older brother went to college to become a doctor. But at age 21 he was hit and killed by a drunk driver.
  
  This left his past 3 years of college debt for the family to deal with. Eve, in mourning, wanted to follow after her brother and in his footsteps. So the next year when she turned 18 and graduated highschool, she attended the same college intent on being a doctor herself while working part time at a maid cafe. However, it wasn’t to be. Eve wasn’t as gifted academically, barely passing the more difficult classes. In the end, she dropped out halfway through getting her certifications.
  
  She hadn’t told her parents this though, and made a decision one day when she was in a particularly dark place. Out of shame she would leave and pay off her own debt. Then she would find a way to pay off her brother’s debt.

Because of the responsibility put on him at such a young age Theodore displays the patience and responsibility of someone twice his age. Since there was nobody else to do the housework, Theo also took over the cooking and cleaning- he's become a regular neat freak in the past couple years.   Theodore was born and raised in Syracuse. He grew up in a poor neighborhood with a lot of crime, but kept his own nose clean as well as his friends. His best friend Paul Bauer has lived just up the street from him since Theo was 13. He’s two years younger than Theodore and three years older than Theo’s sister Abigail.
  
  His middle school English teacher, who would often bring in sweet she baked herself for her class to enjoy, was the one who introduced him to baking. She was a sweet older lady who lived just two blocks away from him, and he would often visit her for baking lessons.
  
  He left home to attend college in New York City when he was 17, but didn’t stay away for long. His parents both passed in a boating accident just a few months into his freshman year and Theodore had to come home to take care of his 12 year old sister Abigail. He continued his education online while working to support himself and his sister.
  
  During his senior year he met Samantha Reyes, a young woman who worked at a custom motorcycle shop in town. They hit it off and after just a couple of months had a baby on the way. It was a shock to them both, but even though they weren’t ready for children they chose to keep the baby. Unfortunately, Samantha passed away during childbirth.
  
  Two months after Claire’s second birthday, Theodore lost his job at a local bakery. The business had been forced to shut down when competition from a big name bakery cut too far into their sales. When sifting through the large stack of overdue bills that had accumulated, he came across a letter saying he had supposedly inherited a bakery.
  
  Neither of his parents talked much about their families or where they came from, so he didn’t know whether or not he had any other family. Desperate to work in a bakery again, and to be able to support his family, he decided to make the trip. The money he would need was included in the envelope, an odd thing to include if it were a scam. His daughter and his sister are staying with his best friend Paul while he figures out what’s going on in Fairlight.

Both parents struggled with drug abuse, leading to the two bouncing around various family members throughout their adolescence. While Megan wa always the "perfect" child, Marcus had...issues. After the loss of his mother and the string of incidents following he sold their farm and became a wanderer, tagging along with a travelling crew of strangers on a journey across states. They were all in it for survival, so it was easy to blend in and get along. But he never found a place to settle down, unlike the others who left the crew one by one. Then it was always new faces. MacGregor was content to stay traveling forever; but back then he only had a small fortune and travel expenses gobbled it quickly. Before long he couldn't afford a house anymore. He needs to fix himself on something---anything before he traveled to his death. Then he got my letter.
A job offer that suited him perfectly, far enough away from home where he can be someone new for the rest of his life. He could be someone too busy to be stuck in this stage of grief. So he traveled here, unbeknownst to how the rabbit hole changes people.' ... I tuck it under my spotted jacket. Let's see how this goes.

  Life before Reggie absolutely uprooted himself, was pleasant. At least, he’d liked to think it was.
  
  His mother consistently doted on her only son. The carefully crafted handwritten notes and dramatic squiggly little hearts his mother scrawled into paper to stick around the house, were endearing. Even her long hours at the hospital never denoted a lack of care, as she occasionally texted him in between her breaks.
  
  He lived in a small town called Coshocton, Ohio, approximately only seven hours away from North Carolina, and an hour away from anywhere important. A distance that couldn’t be walked, and clearly was never meant for Reggie to travel. Without a car nor money to his name he frequented the college campus nearby. He never could figure out an education but being near Joel seemed practically the same without the added stress of actual work.
  
  When the letter came in the mail, it was April 3rd , and the beginning of change. Something Reginald had been deprived of, practically avoidant of, and an opportunity that seemed almost impossible, was presented effortlessly.

  Appearance

  Jackson's hair color is naturally an auburn color. His hair has always been long and he hates it, thinking that it was too girly. Jackson was never allowed to cut his hair, but somehow convinced his parents to let him dye it, so it became purple. He has golden brown eyes, almost glowing when in direct sunlight. He was always short, another thing he hates about his body, wishing he had more length to him as the other boys do. Jackson is a bit overweight for his height but what can he say? He would always sneak more sweets than permitted. Jackson was luckily born with small breasts (easier to hide) and a flat ass.

  Personality

  Jackson isn't necessarily a 'shy' person, but is rather awkward. He feels uncomfortable in his body and isn't sure how to react around others. Growing up with a big family, he was left little time to socialize with peers and friends. Jackson is rather caring and careful though, especially around kids and babies, as he is the oldest cousin in his family. He hates to be late and would rather be an hour early due to his upbringing of "always be on time," he makes sure to work hard at everything he does. He is rather stubborn and doesn't give up easily. Jackson is rather forgiving and is a people pleaser. Being forced into feminine roles and being raised female gives him a lot of conflictions and anxieties. He is afraid to come out and be his true, natural self.
• Backstory I

  Fatima is a first generation American. Her grandparents and parents were born in India. After her parents were wed, they moved to America, along with her grandparents. Over time, more of her family moved to America, but not quite all. Fatima is a single child, surprisingly, but has many younger cousins. She was taught how to take care of them and would often watch her cousins when she was deemed old enough to do so. Life was pretty normal for her, as her family was middle class, and she got lots of attention from her mother. But something always felt wrong or off. She didn't want her mother's attention, she didn't want to sit still for hours as her hair was braided and eventually makeup was done. Fatima wanted to rough house with her boy cousins but was told she was too fragile, even though she was the oldest. Often, she was told, that she had "nothing to complain about" in her life, so when she tried to protest, she was shut up. There was constant family events, school work, and house chores to be done, so little time was left for socializing. Fatima was jealous of the free time her cousins had and often had to cook and clean with her mother, though she was terrible at cooking. Everything was alright, until puberty hit. She hated it, she hated how her body looked, and worse of all, her parents had a "surprise" for her. She was to be wed! They had found a suitor, right here in America, and a wealthy one at that. This could push their family into the next financial bracket. To refuse to do so would bring dishonor to her and her family. Fatima continued to struggle with her identity, as crushes went, she longed for the same sex, and did not want a man, no matter his riches. Luckily she had until she was 18 to be wed away. Still, every birthday that rolled around, she dreaded it. One day, at the eve of her 17th birthday, she snapped.
  
  Jackson told his parents that he did not want to be a girl anymore nor did he like men, he liked women only. Never again did he utter those words to his parents, for the first time in his life, he was beat red. After that, Jackson was avoidant towards his family, just trying to survive. He often felt depressed, dysphoric, alone, and anxious about his situation. With little social skills, he stayed in the closet, even to his dearest of friends. A week before his 18th birthday, his suitor sent an early wedding gift to his family. His father had a big 'celebration' over it and fell into a drunken stupor. That night, Jackson snuck into his dad's office and stole the money that was sent over. He kept the cash hidden but still wasn't sure how to get out of his situation. All until, a few days later, on his birthday, a letter came in. He was desperate. The night before, he got the worse news of all. His wedding was originally to take place a month after his 18th birthday, but now he had a week. With shaking hands, he knew what he had to do. Without a word, he took the letter, took the money, and got onto the next bus out of town. Several days, buses, and trains later, he arrived in North Carolina, 1,000 of miles away from home.

  Backstory II

  Jackson has been waiting a long time to be his true, authentic self. He isn't sure how he is going to do it yet, but he is hoping to find help here. He wants to fully transition, get surgery, and start on T. Before getting out of his home town, he crushed his cell phone and threw it away. Maybe one day he would go back, when he was a "true" man, maybe then his family would accept him. Skills include sewing, knitting, cleaning, and changing diapers. He also knows how to play piano and is decent at painting and drawing. Jackson was raised by his mother on most days. He wants to learn so many more skills and feels like what he knows isn't enough. Though he was taught how to cook, he never got the hang out it. He is hoping he could at least bring delight to the customers if nothing else in this bakery. Jackson is also a linguistic, he knows English, Hindi, and Spanish.
  
  Jackson loves sweets and even though he knew this inheritance was an impossible move, it felt perfect to him. Drawing and painting was one of his "allowed" free time activities. He wants to learn photography, wood working, and is open to many other forms of art. Jackson also loves animals, even though he was never allowed to have pets, he always longed to cuddle friendly furry creatures. Even though he likes sweets, he isn't a fan of his body. He is interested in learning how to do yoga, go to the gym, or even start jogging. Jackson does not like loud, angry people or noises. He hates the color pink due to his association of it being the 'feminine' color. Jackson was always a foodie but one thing he hates is coconut, the texture and taste being awful to him.
• Reputation

  Jackson does not have much of a reputation since he had a very little social life and few friends. He wouldn't even call them true friends, but more like acquaintances. His chores, school, piano lessons, language lessons, and family life took up 95% of his day to day living. He left his entire life behind to get the help he needed and wanted and left his phone behind as well. The social media he was allowed to have was only Facebook, and even then, that was monitored.

  Personal Info

  Most of my preferences were already put in the discord OOC channel. Check it out. As far as availability goes, I am in EST time. I work part time during the day, so I'm more available with afternoon/evenings and some nights (depending on if I work the next day or not). Activity level depends on how the rest of the roleplay goes. I can guarantee at least once a week, with aiming for 2-3 times a week if it stays active/busy enough!

  This is the Netherland Dwarf Rabbit! Why would Jackson want one of these? Well, that's because it's small (easier to hide/sneak into house) and super fluffy to make up all the lost time he wanted to have a pet but couldn't. Jackson's spirit animal is a deer because a deer is the symbol of gentleness and grace. Also, they are vigilance, sensitive, and intuitive in many aspects of life.

  I love you, honey. But let's not ever mention that again, for your sake and mine. We must keep dad happy.

  As loving and caring as any mother, she taught Jackson everything that she knew. Miriam was kind but stern when it came to Jackson's upbringing. She taught him about knitting/sewing, cooking, cleaning, and even Hindi and Spanish. She supervised his school work and free time, checking on him frequently when even left alone in his room to study. She always stated that "father comes first," and would make sure no one ate dinner until he got home, no matter how late that would be. When it came to what language she spoke, she had a system. English was for every day general conversation, Hindi was used for endearing times and bonding, and Spanish was used when Jackson was in trouble or simple not "trying/paying attention enough." Though she had a sharp tongue, her bark was worse than her bite. If something went wrong in the house, she made sure to cover up the tracks for Jackson or took the brunt of the blame. Miriam made sure that Jackson didn't get in the way of her husband's angry outbursts, all until that fateful day.
  
  When Jackson came out as trans, she was quiet and distant for a few days. Eventually, she became 'normal' to him once more. She never expressed her opinion directly of the matter to it, simply to not bring up the matter again. Even though she does not show emotion often, she is most likely devastated with the news of Jackson running away from home.

Unfortunately, unknown health issues ailed his wife, and she was deemed to never have kids again. With no extra expenses and more income, Ivaan frequently used it for drinking and gambling, but never enough to get into debt, so no one truly saw an issue of it. Until he got too angry and would yell and throw things. The older Jackson got, the more time away he spent from the family, much to Jackson's dismay. Ivaan "worked" a lot but Jackson was too busy to investigate what his father was really doing with all that time in hand. Despite some anger issues, Ivaan never hit his wife or Jackson, not until Jackson came out as trans. Most likely furious that Jackson left and scrambling to search for him.
