Carl was found on the doorstep of his parents' home. There was no note, only a basket and a blanket to comfort the child. Normally such a thing would've been reported, but for the Luna's it was a blessing as Kevin and Jesse Luna had been trying to conceive for years. Jesse was found to be unable to have children just that day.
Kevin and Jesse both worked for the government, with Kevin being an attache for the Pacific-Asia area while Jesse was an FBI agent assigned to work many of the crime syndicate issues coming from that same area. With their connections they were able to bring Carl into their lives without any red tape, and with their new child being a blessing.
Carl learned many languages over the years given the frequency in which his family traveled or moved. By age 12 he had already been to well over a dozen schools throughout the Asia-Pacific area as well as a few places in Europe. By age 16 he was already well-versed in several martial arts styles and how to use and take care of multiple firearms. And by age 18 he has finally learned how to work multiple bureaucratic systems and get whatever he needed while also staying under just about anyone's radar.
All in all he was known to be a mostly quiet kid that kept to himself, which few worried about given his family's lifestyle. He was seen as respectful and well-mannered, while showing no interest in being bullied around because of being a new kid or different. He had established himself wherever he went as someone not to be messed with while being a good friend if you were a true friend back.
On his 20th birthday things changed. He had been accepted for FBI training, working to take over his mother's, soon-to-be, old position. While he was wandering around on his own in the night, after his festivities had ended and people had gone home, he noticed the moon seemed so much brighter than normal. He didn't remember how long he had been staring at the moon, surrounded by only darkness everywhere else, a woman's voice spoke to him. She was Demosia, an Atlantean Goddess of the Mood, Darkness, Magic and more. More importantly, she was his real mother and it was time for him to grow up and take on his heritage.
Nobody questioned Carl about coming in so late figuring he had a really good time out on his birthday. And nobody questioned his increased focus on his training for the FBI or even his missions. People figured he just hadn't fallen far from the tree. All the same everyone agreed that Agent Luna was one of the best at what he did and stories about some of his escapades began to spread within the agency and, soon, among several other government agencies.
