    Hometown: De Trillas, a large city by the sea where the streets are always filled with people bustling about to get home or to their work. The shopping center that the city is known for is open all hours, though you may not want to stick around at night.


    Personality: Jesse isn’t the kindest of people. He often bickers with his adoptive sisters and rarely obeys his adoptive mother’s orders. However, he does enjoy his current family’s company when they aren’t getting on his every nerve. He’s a playful fellow who will always find time to goof off. Professors call him a problem child, but he begs to differ.

    Background: (There was a long version of this, but ehhhhh.) Jesse lived a normal life until the age of 11. No, he didn't get his letter to Hogwarts at that age. His house burnt down. With it went his happy life. Due to the uncaring attitude of the government, Jesse and his father weren't given nearly as much money as they required to make up for all of their lost possessions. While Jesse's father struggled to hold down a job, Jesse was invited to live with the Tossél family. As the family had been close to Jesse's mother, they didn't want to see her son suffer because of his father's "lazy attitude."

    Hometown: Olenburg, a snowy town in the mountains. It’s known to get tourists for the famous casinos it has, though only in the warmer seasons. The perpetual cold often wards many away.


    Personality: Pretty shy and timid, Noishe still loves to hang around people. He just doesn’t deal with loud sounds or scary things well. However, despite his fear for monsters and the whatnot, he has a great passion for history, and used to run around with a crew of paranormal investigators just to get into secluded historical sites.

    Background: Raised by his grandparents, Noishe used to spend a great amount of his time with a group of self-proclaimed “ghost hunters,” four rather odd people who all seemed to have different goal in mind for their little group. Noishe was often the one in the background who didn’t say much, only really checking if they were ghost hunters or secret investigators that day. He and his group shared many adventures, but upon getting accepted to Brine Academy, he had to say goodbye. (-9374572 creativity)






Abandoning Characters:

Players may abandon their characters. This means the character isn't deleted, but the player no longer controls them. If a player wishes to pass their character to another, they may do so with proof of the exchange. Permission to view a PM or a link to a conversation where the owner of the character gives up their character must be available. If a conversation isn't available, a public notice or PM to @LittleGamerFool from the owner declaring what character they are abandoning and who may take the character is required.​




Inactive Characters:

Characters may be declared inactive if the player using them fails to respond for an extended period of time with no explanation. Inactive characters may be reactivated at any time, but should a player consistently become inactive without reason, they may have a harder time getting their character back in. Characters will remain inactive until they are reactivated or the player using them confirms that they are dropping out of the rp.​

Appearance: Tan skin and very dark brown corkscrew-curly hair. It would be pretty and shiny if he weren’t too lazy to take care of it, so it kind of just looks like a mess. Professors are expected to dress nicely (which he thinks is rather silly) so, to appease the others, he shows up with a simple collared shirt and woollen sweater -- and then retreats to his office where he dons an overly vibrant coloured robe. It changes colour and pattern everyday. In general, people are unsure if he just has a ridiculously large amount of stupid looking robes of the same style, or if he uses magic to change it. He looks rather disreputable, and rarely ever has a serious expression. There is also a rumor that he never leaves the school. Ever.


Magician/Amlet: Amlet (much to the chagrin of his colleagues)


Major: High level skills in illusion magic -- specialty in sight and touch, but can dabble in the other senses. Teaches History.

Hometown: Khitambri -- a suburb of DeTrillas. They are known for their beautiful trees that bloom in every color imaginable, and some of them even have strangely colored leaves. Unique and rare herbal remedies are made by the townsfolk, and the town is well equipped to handle tourists.


Personality: After a very hard life, he likes to stay in the moment and enjoy little things. He purposefully acts in a way that causes people to underestimate his intelligence and abilities. He finds that makes it easier for him to slack off.

Haymich’s family was not rich. They were looked down upon in Khitambri, though they loved the town. They relocated into the urban DeTrillas in the hopes of maintaining a better income. It didn’t really work out. Haymich spent a lot of time homeless, and on his own.


As a teenager wandering the streets, Haymich found a tablet left on the ground from a mugging gone wrong (the twine had snapped, and taken its owner with it). Just for giggles, he fixed it up and tried it on, thus discovering he actually seemed to have a strong talent for magic. Realizing he would have never discovered this without money to burn on classes, Haymich joined an underground organization in De Trillas which created forged tablet licenses, as well as a few tablets to go with them -- for the lower class people who could not afford to pay for the courses required for a license, or a tablet itself.


He met Jira, a Drian who had a lot of governmental influence, through the organization when he was about 18. They became best friends. She worked as a voice for the lower class, but also gave the organization information on forging licences. Haymich was able to create simple tablets, but was often hesitant to create more intricate ones (as he was well aware that the one hanging around his neck could kill him at any moment). He distributed them, making a point to teach the buyer the dangers and rules of using them.


Noah was a Chimera coming from a high-end family that were a very well known bunch of tablet researchers. They treated Human Amlets as lesser, and began infusing the tablets they made with faults, to make Amlets look like fools, as well as kill a few off. When Noah discovered this, he began working with Haymich and Jira’s organization to protect Amlets and Chimeras like himself -- providing them with more materials, as well as high quality and innovative tablets created by himself. Haymich was around 23 at this time.


Jira and Haymich both ended up falling in love with Noah, and lived together for many years. Their first child, Wendy was born when Haymich was 30. -- However, two weeks after their son, Marvin, was born, the Cristalea organization learned of Noah’s betrayal. They sent their people after his family, and all in the span of one hour, Jira was killed, the four year old Wendy attempted to use magic beyond her power to save her family, leaving her comatose, and Noah’s tablet was smashed, leaving him and their newborn son dead. Haymich ran.


Other: The other professors keep him unaware of the experiments they are doing on Amlets, for obvious reasons.


He was found at the center of the wreckage of the Cristalea estate two weeks after, about to break his own tablet after succeeding in his revenge. He was arrested, and due to his unnatural ability even as an Amlet, he was taken in for experimentation. He endured tests as a prisoner for years until he was saved by a hopelessly arrogant magician named Faltera, who wanted to put the power Haymich had in her own hands. She placed Haymich as a professor of history (a non-magical position, he noted) at Brine Academy -- and he now secretly works on escaping Faltera’s clutches, unaware of the fact he has a ten year old daughter alive, though paralyzed back in De Trillas. But mostly he just tries to forget his past.

Appearance: She has blue/grey hair that ends at about chest length, tan skin, and light green eyes. She generally wears her hair to one side, and has to often check to make sure it’s in place. She is not obviously fit, and much prefers wearing big warm sweaters to anything tight fitting or showy. She takes great pains in keeping her hands perfectly manicured, and her makeup pristine. She is somewhat tall, and not at all slight, so some people are intimidated by her strong-willed personality combined with her strong appearance.

Sexual Orientation: Bi? Eh? She’ll figure it out?


Hometown: A small port town called Grysk Landing, which is almost primarily owned by an elegant aristocrat who watches the whole town from her mansion on the hill.


Personality: Ksenia can be perceived as somewhat brash and arrogant. Hesitant to share her background or vulnerabilities with anyone. She checks her appearance often, which may make her seem vain, but she doesn’t let it get in the way of what is going on around her. Her voice is loud, and clear, and she will often use it to make sure things are just so. She likes being surrounded by warmth and high-quality food. Sometimes she will be contrary just for the sake of it.


Relations: Her clan members don’t really have names, but she still recognizes them, and they recognize her. They keep in touch, but Ksenia doesn’t really miss them. Otherwise, Alyona Vikhrov: guardian, tutor, and governor of her town.


Hobbies: Lazer tag, kung fu, napping, cooking, magical experimentation.


Likes: Fish, sweets, cooking shows, messing up people’s plans, luxury, coffee (if it’s made well.)


Dislikes: Being cold, bad coffee, chipping a nail, snagging her sweater, the concept of tears.


Background: Ksenia did not have a name until she was 9 years old. She was a cat. Literally. Her family is a clan of feral magic cats living around town, lounging on the docks, stealing fish and milk from the stalls, and occasionally making friends with the townsfolk. Ksenia wandered around the town often to find the best sun patches and juiciest tidbits of both gossip and fish. Her clan loved to gossip about the lives of the people, and would sometimes find ways to nudge them in certain directions.


She wandered into the airy mansion of Alyona Vikrov, the governor of their small town. Alyona was a very powerful magician, and Ksenia found herself watching the magical displays of the older woman. Ksenia began sneaking in more frequently, curious about the complicated magic, and the human’s ways. Alyona approached Ksenia after spending days watching this cat appear to be reading magical tomes.


Other: Ksenia has taken a part-time job during her studies, so she doesn’t have to ask Alyona for money.
Alyona began showing off her magic and the rules of her governance to the cat. Ksenia enjoyed the fancy meals she was given, and being able to hear how the town was run by the head honcho herself. Alyona enjoyed the company, and having a friendly ear. Eventually, Alyona pointed out to Ksenia that there was a very difficult and rare spell for turning animals permanently into humans. Ksenia agreed to search for it, and within a few years, she had been transformed. She lives with Alyona, who is her best friend and research partner, and was accepted into Brine at Alyona’s request.

Hometown: A very small coastal town called Redwater. Life is simple there. The town has one main road and is dominated mostly by small local businesses. Redwater has one large school that houses all the education levels.


Personality: Ursa is a generally kind person. Though she can come off as slightly shy when one is first meeting her.


Relations: She was adopted by the Zander family (In below character sheet)


Hobbies: Drawing, reading, hiking, camping, rock climbing. She will try pretty much anything.


Likes: Sweets, the color orange, the cold, cereal, herbal teas

Personality: Barry is generally harder than his adoptive sister. He is kind to people but he comes off as unapproachable sometimes. Some of his responses consist of grunts as he can also be rather lazy and sometimes he doesn't feel the need to actually talk to people.


Relations: Ursa is his adoptive sister


Hobbies: Tinkering with various technologies, playing the guitar both acoustic and electric, thinking up potential inventions.


Likes: The color white, dressing fancy but messy at the same time, hiking, mountain climbing, food in general


Dislikes: People being mean to Ursa, that's it, not much else.


Background: Ursa grew up in Redwater, but her mother died giving birth to her and her father died when she was 4. She was put into an orphanage and was soon after adopted by the Zander family. There she grew up with Barry Zander a boy who was the same age as her. The two did not get along very well at first but eventually they became the best of friends, It took a couple years for them to really get along though. Since then the two have been inseperable both learning magic, though Barry was always more interested in the technology side of it all.


Barry didn't have a very interesting life growing up.

    Appearance: Short with lightly tanned skin and bushy black hair that is inter-cut with patches of fuzzy, dead white strands. He usually has a faded blue scarf made of wool wrapped high enough on his face to cover his mouth. His stomach is slightly pudgy, mixing with his short limbs to give him a rotund appearance. His eyes are normally covered by a weird set of goggles that have a number of movable lenses attached to allow for rapid adjustment of magnification. His clothing is often soft and simple, rarely being in any colour other than brown (excepting for scarves and hats). An old copper watch sits on his right wrist, his left wrist covered by a weird bangle that he refuses to take off.


    Magician/Amlet: Magician


    Major: Druidism is his preferred magic type. He is also an acute student of biology, planning to write on the growing multitude of crossovers he can detect between them.


    Sexual Orientation: Gay


    Hometown: Truth or Conseqeunces, New Mexico is his birth town. It is famous for its spas and baths, ideal places for one to relax after a hard day of work. The only problem are the numerous pageants that run there during the year, taking over annoyingly large parts of the town.


    Personality: Juvio is a manic obsessive sort when he gets caught up in a hobby. He tends to just pick something and then chase it down until he loses interest in it. He loses track of time in those situations and often wanders out for his morning break sometime after the sun's gone down. He is easily embarrassed by the mess his room often becomes during these periods. He has little time for joking or pranks though, often bearing a blank expression when met with humour.

    Hobbies: Gardening, research, tinkering, horror novels

    Background:
    Juvio is the sole child of the owners of the Lies Spa (pronounced Lee-As and named for a terrible joke) and grew up surrounded by warm waters. The family was well enough off that he was capable of trying out more things than the average child. With firm, loving parents to guide him, he particularly came to enjoy gardening and hoped to make a career of it. A stray word from his grandmother had him focus that talent towards druidic magic, taking a scientific approach to the nature-based skills. He soon started to retreat from his peers though, being known at school for disappearing completely between classes. He maintained friendly relations but this habit soon reduced his number of "close" friends to near nothing.


    Juvio returned home one day to begin his hours at the spa when he saw someone floating below the surface of the water. In a panic, he dived in and pulled the person out but he couldn't find a pulse. He attempted CPR but the effort failed and his hands started to shake. In a panic, he attempted to use healing magic. Having never done so, his frenzied mind soon had him applying animal manipulation to the unbreathing form. Juvio was forced to give up after a moment of this though, sighing to himself as he did so. The human boy was completely unmoving but Reoc's eyes were drawn to the fact that the person was fully clothed. As medics arrived, Juvio saw them pull a tablet from the boy's possession, though he didn't get much from that.


    A day later, someone arrived at the spa to speak to Juvio. They needed to know what magic he'd used on the unconscious form, their faces paling when he couldn't give specific answers. It seems the boy had used his tablet to put himself into some sort of trance (though the purpose was never discovered). When Juvio tried to save him, his power channeled through the tablet and interfered with the trance. That was three years ago and the boy remains unconscious, no one in the outside world having come to claim him. By the end, only Juvio himself would occasionally visit. That experience worsened Juvio's single-minded drive as he now desperately looks for a way to undo his sin. His arrival at Brine Academy has only provided resources for that goal, his plain appearance making him rather easy to miss between classes. He has become aware of a legend of a ghost haunting one of the labs in the dead of night when all have gone home. It infuriates him because he knows it was he himself who was howling in pain after the steel case had fallen on his dainty foot.

Hometown: Skylar Comes from a town called Demarova located near the sea. It is a trading powerhouse and prime location for tourism. Many covet the exotic fish found only on Demarovian shores.


Personality: Sky is an industrious bookworm. She takes her studies very seriously and rarely has free time. On top of school, she also has a part time job at a tablet crafting shop. Some find her bland, but she has a twisted sense of humor once she opens up.

In her human form, Jane has red hair and light chestnut brown eyes. Her large ears are masked, at the cost of her usually advanced sense of hearing. In her fox form, her hair reverts to its natural light brown/tan shade and her eyes get much darker. She has large ears that sit on top of her head that regulate her body heat in harsh temperatures. She is small, less than 5ft tall, making it easy for her to hide in small spaces when need be.


For the uniform, she wears a light blue button-up and gray sweater vest with the BA pin. Her black a-line skirt comes just above her knees and matching black socks come up to her thighs. Usually she wears black sneakers or shoes with quiet rubber soles.

Background: Lived in an advanced underground city. The Fox Chimera civilization is centered around innovation and productivity. Most of them grow their own produce and still go out hunting and fishing for meat. Science and Magic are valued and extensively researched for their potential to make life easier and more fulfilling.


Jane was hired on at a young age because of her magical potential. Using her power came easily to her and she was trained to become the spy for a mad scientist who wanted to test the limits of the tablets used to give Amlets their power. Jane was sent off to Brine Academy, the headquarters for upcoming talented Magicians and Amlets to discover any info that could be used in her master’s research. She is to keep extensive notes and documentation on anything “useful” she finds.
